Flower Crowns
Han River, Seoul
“Wheein yah, the Han river looked exactly the same as the last time we’ve been here,” Hyejin giggled, carefully spreading out the picnic mat and wedging it with the drinks she and Wheein bought before coming. Wheein smiled and crawled to where Hyejin was sitting at. It had been a while since they visited the Han River. Was it 6 months ago? Wheein didn’t care. She placed her head on Hyejin’s lap, looking up at her soulmate’s face. As always, Hyejin looked beautiful. Even though they have spent 11 years and counting together, Wheein still falls for Hyejin every time.
“It looks the same,” Wheein replied, emitting a soft puff of happiness as Hyejin started her hair. They sat quietly watching the river, the snow falling slowly over the frozen river. The air was silent, save for a few car engines purring in the distance. Wheein shivered slightly and curled up. Hyejin laughed and pecked her soulmate’s cheeks.
“Why are you so cute?”
Wheein giggled and wrapped her arms around Hyejin’s waist, drawing herself closer. “Because I’m your puppy.”
“My wheepup.”
The two of them lapsed into silence. Wheein enjoyed the silence, just her and Hyejin in their own world. She twisted the soulmate rings she and Hyejin got back in their hometown when they visited, the H initial sparkling in the sunlight.
“Wheeinie yah.”
“Mmm?”
“What happens when I go?”
Wheein sat up.
“What do you mean?”
Hyejin looked seriously at her. “What would you do when I go?”
Wheein bit her lower lip, not replying.
