Chapter 5
You're My DeadlineBomi poured herself more wine and took a sip. Next to her, behind her, in front of her, are crowd, luring theirselves in some kind of party music. She sighed heavily, this is not the kind of peace she's been looking for.
Hayoung then emerged from her side, with a glass on hand offering it to her.
Wait, is that an iced tea? What the hell?
"You're not drinking?" Bomi accused immediately.
"Not when you're pretending you're a heavy drinker." Hayoung answered, teasing her. Then offered the iced tea again which Bomi politely declined.
Bomi knew how hard Hayoung is trying to avoid the topic so far. In fact, the younger already beat her own record of not asking for like 15 minutes.
Bomi met her gaze, feeling fierce. " hey, I'm totally fine. Things are well."
"You're hiding." Hayoung accused.
"If I'm hiding, you won't find me." Bomi chuckled while asking the bartender for another drink.
"Hell yeah. You literally went to Italy without me knowing!"
"It's for my job. You idiot." Bomi playfully hit Hayoung's shoulder as she glanced at the bartender for more drink.
"Enough. You're not a heavy drinker." Hayoung stole the glass from the girl and drank it straightly.
"Come on lets go home." She added but Bomi pulled away.
"No. I want to stay here."
Hayoung rolled her eyes. "You want to hide here."
Bomi let out a sarcastic laugh. "Hiding from what?"
"Hiding from your pain!"
Bomi simply rolled her eyes and stood up, "I don't have time for that."
Hayoung immediately responded when she saw Bomi struggling to walk. She casually wrapped her arms around Bomi's waist.
"Get off me." Bomi stated. Embarrassed.
Hayoung led the way out of the dim bar and decided to drive Bomi home. She called her friend for her own car and then stole Bomi's key when the older girl was about to get on the driver's seat.
"Woah woah. I won't fight. Stop getting sulky. You're scarying me." Bomi surrendered and hop into the passenger seat. Hayoung then started the engine and drove away.
The drive brought them to Bomi's healing place. Han river. Although Hayoung is not that kind of friend who's doing all the softest things. She's that kind of friend who kept important things in mind. And Bomi is thankful that Hayoung knew where she needs to go and what to do with her.
They sat together on the hood of Bomi's car, admiring the view of the night sky, the feels of the fresh air surrounding them.
Peaceful. Unlike that crowded place earlier.
Hayoung took the take out foods they ordered on their way there and passed the other bag to Bomi.
"This is not a date." Hayoung stated sarcastically.
"Yeah right, you're not my type." the smell of the take out foods made her hungry. Foods are always good for sad moments. It's an effective cure.
"Of course. You're more into older women and straight girls."
Bomi swallowed hard, examining Hayoung's face, the girl is seriously pissed off. Hayoung knew everything about Chorong, and she's been warned a hundred times to just forget her childhood friend and have fun. Heartbreaks are not ideal to deal with. And comforting a friend is not Hayoung's forte. Bomi's lucky Hayoung is up on doing something like this right now.
There was more silence as Hayoung kept on searching for snacks on the plastic bag but her eyes gave away some concern. Bomi knew exactly what's coming next.
"Just ask. I know you're dying to."
"What exactly happened with your Chorong?" Hayoung passed her a softdrink in can. Enough for alcohol that night.
And Bomi's right. Like Hayoung didn't even had second thoughts asking her and just went straight to the point. Annoying girl.
Bomi thought it's nothing to hear Chorong's name anymore but she had to grip her own knees just to stop the powerful feeling it stirred. "It's just... She's not into me."
"Look. You actually like that childhood friend of yours. You let her go. Then came back and befriended her again. Then you realized you're inlove with her and surprise! She got a boyfriend. But then she teased you. Gave you a little taste despite of being in a relationship and you turned her down if I am right?" Hayoung narrated while Bomi looked at her hard.
"I'm not a relationship ruiner."
"It's a surprise. She's literally on top of you and you two didn't end up in bed?"
"Shut up." If she's in the right mood, she already poured that softdrink in Hayoung because of being s
