[Please Forget Me]

Description

Irene and Wendy kept missing each other after their break up. That is until Wendy was offered to work for Red Velvet's upcoming album that the two lost souls finally met again.

[A/N not really one of my best works but I think it's okay to post this so here it is! :D]

"It's been a while."

It was those four words Irene didn't expect to hear after a while, although she did imagine such a moment to happen before.

Her heart was still the same after the years that passed by.

The lady standing before her wasn't quite the same but is still greatly familiar to the quiet drumming of her heart. Her hair was longer now, curling almost like a princess's and brown, unlike the usual blonde hair the latter had. The lady just got so beautiful but was still as simple as ever while wearing a simple pair of a white blouse and a knee-length black skirt. Strange but familiar, Irene felt like combusting at the spot after seeing her long lost ex-lover.

"Yeah… It's truly been a while, huh…" She supplied. Her knees start to feel like jelly and any moment now, she could bet how she'll melt into a puddle. Her heart was leaping out of her chest already.

Their handshake wasn't necessary but Irene couldn't let a moment pass. It was the only time she could have an excuse to touch Wendy's hand again, feel her skin next to hers as if they never broke up as if it didn't take two years before the two finally met again… as if their fight never happened.

Because even with the two years that had passed by, it was still Wendy that held her heart… no matter how much she'd try to deny it.

"Uh—excuse me, coming through—OWW!!"

Irene couldn't help but groan as she felt a huge weight impacted her body, causing her to fall in such speed towards the ground. It would've greatly hurt but there was an arm who turned their bodies around. It was so fast that Irene had her eyes closed the whole time. It was only when her eyes opened up that she realized what position she was in. Below her was a girl, probably a little shorter than her. The latter had her eyes closed as well as if she was expecting the fall to hurt a lot judging from her scrunched eyebrows. Then it finally struck Irene. The girl tried to cushion Irene's fall, even when it meant hurting herself in the process.

The silence and awkwardness were there, but the polite arm around her waist and the moment the unknown girl fluttered her eyes opened surely made Irene's heart skip a beat.

It was the first time Irene considered love, at first sight, could be real.

She didn't love the latter, but every time their eyes meet, her heart would blaze like a freaking firecracker, never-ending and sparkling in a new light every single time.

That was how it started, with an apologetic "sorry" and a shy "hello".

"I didn't expect to see you here…" Irene tried to start, awkwardly staring at the woman who was almost like a stranger, sitting right in front of her. Their drinks were left in the table, barely touched. On Irene's part, it was almost impossible to drink with her fingers fumbling on the helm of her shirt (due to nervousness). Wendy, on the other hand, seemed too confident though.

"Yeah well, I didn't expect to be back here in South Korea as well…" Wendy answered, scratching her nape sheepishly. "…but Seulgi did demand for me to come here before her birthday, and you know how weak I am on her tantrums."

That drew an awkward laugh from Irene, with her fingers pushing back her fringe behind her ear as she remembered her member's nearing birthday. "Y-yeah right… She was your ultimate girl crush, after all."

"No, she's not." Wendy laughed. "Did you forget?"

Did you forget? Irene almost cracked up at that question… Seulgi wasn't Wendy's ultimate crush, but then again, the latter had a long list of crushes that Irene tried hard to fight with to just get the lady's attention. Rosé, Jung Eunji, Kim Sejeong… the latter's girl crush list was infinite. And that was even just half to the latter's boy crush list.

But Wendy's ultimate girl crush would be the South Korean solo singer IU, and Irene did remember quite well how whipped the lady would be for the singer.

That was something that sparked too much of Irene's jealousy, a jealousy that never really died down even before and after they started dating.

"IU-sunbaenim is just--- so beautiful!" Wendy exhaled as the whole dance team along with the Red Velvet members rested in between their practice. There was that huge monitor in the practice room and IU was on screen, singing her heart out.

"Y-you seem to love her a lot, huh?" Irene couldn't help but ask as she sat next to the mesmerized girl who was staring at the TV. "Why?"

"Because she's so nice, and her voice was so good a-and—" Wendy paused, trying to find the right words to say. "—I met her once and when she sings the sincerity of her heart, she just gets me, you know? Like she just stole my heart and was teasing me on returning it."

Irene was envious then. She never saw Wendy looking at someone with such dreamy eyes. For a moment she wished that the girl was her fan instead. She seemed to be wholehearted once she's so into a group or a person. Irene did have fans like that but she was yet to find someone who held as much sincerity as Wendy does.

Irene did dare to ask one thing though.

"H-how about me?" Irene's voice was apprehensive, afraid that she asked the wrong question. "Did I ever make you feel like that?"

Irene was ready to be disappointed. Wendy, ever since the first day they met, made it clear that she was IU's fan instead. When she first met Red Velvet in the meeting room, after that whole bumping into Irene fiasco, Wendy didn't seem starstruck to meet the sensational girl group. Instead, she greeted them with a smile that was so pure.

Wendy treated her like a normal being ever since the first day, as if she was just another girl who happened to sing in front of thousands of audience.

Irene was ready to be let down that when she felt a hand wrapping hers, her mind almost malfunctioned.

That was the first time Wendy looked at her with those dreamy eyes. Wendy's eyes were just filled with truth and sincerity and when their eyes made contact, it felt like Irene was all she sees.

"You… You always take my breath away. Your beauty was far from all those people I see on TV." Wendy told her sincerely. "You sit down and smile like a kid and I would just coo at how adorable it looks and I-I just find myself setting a trap for myself."

Irene remembered how much her cheeks burned at the compliment. And when Wendy smiled at her, she almost lost it.

"You are always beautiful... that I hoped you would've seen me as I see you. Maybe you would realize how you totally got me wrapped around your finger, Joohyun unnie…"

Irene was speechless. No words could come out of her lips and instead, her cheeks blushed into the color of crimson. Even more so as Wendy laid her head on the singer's shoulder, wrapping her arms around the girl and tugging her closer.

Wendy was known to be someone reserved, always at arm's length but with spaces still between them. However, there were those random times that she'll get clingy to her friends. She was like that, randomly, on everyone.

But when Irene felt the latter pulling her closer to her body, her chin on Irene's shoulder and her nose almost touch her skin; the singer just feels so lost. It was like every part of her body was on fire.

"I'm going to help with the production of your next album," Wendy says after finally gathering up her thoughts, looking up at the singer who was lost in thought. "Your CEO personally asked me the favor. He heard some of the songs I composed and wished to put it in your next album. It was actually weird seeing him after such a long time."

Irene nodded her head, although she found it strange as well as ironic. He was the same man who pulled the two of them away from each other. Well, he didn't but he did pull the strings of their break up. A big part of Irene was still mad over him, but more of that anger was directed at herself.

"It's nice to hear that you're writing songs again… Does that mean you will pursue your dream now?" Irene asked, staring as the other lady took a sip of her milkshake without touching the cup, as she always does before.

"I'm not actually sure. Writing and composing was something I just do when feelings are about to burst my heart. On the rest of my time, I'm just a simple engineer." Wendy mumbled, smiling widely. "I graduated a year and a half ago and I immediately passed the licensure exam. I'm working under an electronics company now."

Irene wasn't surprised. Wendy was always a smart girl, always hardworking. She remembered well how the latter doesn't seem to have enough time with herself as she tried to juggle her studies, her part-time jobs, and even her practice with Red Velvet's Dance team especially when their tours and concerts are near.

And now, seeing the younger woman finally succeeding in her life, she realized that letting the girl go wasn't that bad.

"What are you reading?" Irene asked Wendy as they took a break from practice. The latter was drowned with a thick book, memorizing a lot of lines.

"I'm studying… I have exams in Circuit Analysis next week soooo…" Wendy let the words trail off, smiling lightly at Irene. "I have to do well in it."

Irene, being affectionate as always, tapped the girl's shoulders as a way to cheer her up. No more words left their mouth but Irene did try to hold Wendy's free hand, playing with it from time to time and sometimes just entwining their hands together. She was at bliss, even by just doing that, that she didn't even notice the light smile on Wendy's lips who was almost distracted with Irene's actions.

It was peaceful and sweet, even in the eyes of the observers. Everyone in the practice room can already see the blossoming feelings between the two girls, except the two girls themselves.

"Okay! Let's start practicing again!" The choreographer shouted and clapped his hands. Wendy set her book down and Irene quickly stood up to stretch out her hand for Wendy to take. Helping the younger girl up, Irene sneakily planted a gentle kiss on Wendy's cheek.

"What was that for?" Wendy asked.

Irene just laughed. "For good luck! On your exams!"

It was a new day. The cherry blossoms were blooming, finally, to signal the start of spring.

Irene sat there in the recording room, with her heart bursting in nervousness. Her hands were shaking as she tried to read the music sheets. She was prepared to sing the song but after finding out who co-wrote the song they were recording for that day, all her preparations were thrown out of the window.

She had practiced a lot, but she wasn't prepared to be in the same four walls, with the woman she used to love with her all.

"Will you be okay?" Joy asked her, especially after finding out what happened the day before.

"I-I will be." Irene tried to say. However, it felt like a lie after saying it.

Yeri gave her a hug as a comfort. "Don't worry. I'm pretty sure this day will turn out better, unnie. Are you planning on telling her the truth though?"

"I-I—I don't think I can," Irene admitted. "I did tell her to go out of my life. She'll be mad at me."

"But she also deserves to know?" Seulgi asked, obviously worried for her friend.

"I-I don't want to hurt her more than I did…"

Soon enough, the door opened revealing Wendy who greeted them with a polite smile.

And it terribly reminded Irene of their past memories in the same recording room, the very same place they spilled the truth of their hearts almost three years ago.

"You're practicing your heart out again."

Irene was surprised as someone suddenly entered the recording room, looking at her through the glass with a smile on her lips. The lady had the same gaze that always made her melt into a puddle.

"I-I—w-why are you here? Everyone was out already, right?"

"O-oh, I fell asleep in the recording room next to this one. I went to check if no one was here but…" Wendy paused, smiling a bit, "…you are."

"Oh…"

There was an awkward silence as Irene got out of the recording booth, and then she sat down on the couch next to the girl who was just looking at her.

"W-why are you looking at me like that…?"

"Nothing… you just look so pretty every time you sing. It makes my heart beat fast every single time."

Wendy was always sincere with her words. And maybe that's why she was affecting Irene's feelings more, every single time.

"Thank you…" Irene shyly mumbled, covering her face with her hands in an attempt to hide her blushi
