“Hi there, pretty.” Bomi greeted as I joined her and Eunji at the table. She’s still having her usual banana yogurt drink. Cute. And of course Eunji, this girl can only show me her mocking face that I will soon have to rip off her.

“Hello, Bomi.” 

“Okay when did that ‘pretty’ thing started?” Eunji asked Bomi while we’re having lunch and all I could wish for right now is to vanish, to die in the sunlight.

“Well Chorong and I got to talk last night after my shift.” Bomi shared, she definitely didn’t change. Still sharing everything to her best friend.

“I see. I see.” 

“What is it you see?” Now Naeun is here too. Perfect, the alpha of all vampires are gonna get bullied tonight. I can feel it already.

“Meung! You’re friends with the gorgeous school nurse too?!” Bomi sure is surprised on how Eunji is so popular with everyone. May it be now that she’s a vampire or before when she’s a normal person, Eunji is still the same social butterfly. Classes started yesterday but I’m positive when I say that everyone in our section knows Meung.

“Hi, I’m Naeun! And I believe you’re Bomi.” Naeun introduced herself to Bomi with this smile that you seldom see from her, she miss the human that much?

“Yes. Wow you all look so pretty, wow.” Bomi. She will notice how the three of us looks different, looks perfect compare to other humans. Way paler than the rest, we should get tanned. But how? Our eyes are hazel, it doesn’t matter whether you have a blue or green eyes on your human days. Once you die, once you became one of us, your eyes turns hazel.

“So Naeun, our new friend Bomi here just called Chorong pretty.” Eunji said rubbing salt to my wound.

“But didn't she call us pretty too just now?” Oh right she called us three pretty. That actually . Wow am I actually jealous? This feeling isn't new, I've felt like this once before where my non-beating heart clenches.

“Don’t be jealous unnie. We’re just messing with you, you have Bomi all to yourself.” Right. Naeun can read me. I keep forgetting that there isn't just one pureblood in here, there's two.

“Chorong is the prettiest.” Bomi said to me smiling like a sunshine, the only sunshine I could look straight at on broad daylight. She says it like I’m a kid afraid to lose that favourite playmate title. “So hold on, how did you three met? It’s really amazing how with this small town, I have never got to meet any of you before this school year.”

This will cause trouble if no one would think fast.

“Oh we’ve been here long before just not really going all out of our places.” Naeun started and Eunji continued, “But since Chorong is here now we decided to get in to the biggest and only school in town.” 

“Okay so are you and Naeun a thing?” That’s my girl. Go baby! Ask them the question they’ve been dodging along for years now.

First year of Eunji as a vampire.

When I changed Eunji, the first one I went to is Naeun. Not my mom, or my dad but Naeun. Because I know I can trust her with anything and I know she won’t panic or hurt Eunji.

“Oh my god, Chorong what happened?!”

“I- she and Bomi- they-” I can’t find the right words to say, I can’t keep my mind off the image of Bomi covered with blood, lifeless out there in the road.

“Okay you need to relax.” Naeun said as she held Eunji away from me and cleaned the poor girl. “Unnie. You- oh god.”

“I did Naeun-ah. I did. I had no choice. She asked me to.”

“Chorong this is gonna be a mess and you know it.” Naeun reminds me of how it is like when you first become a vampire. And even before we notice it, Eunji woke up.

“Eunji, do you recognise us?” Naeun asked and Eunji just jumped on me. She was fast, faster than I expected. But I’m no normal vampire, I managed to get a hold of her, stop her from whatever destruction she’s planning to.

“Eunji you have to calm down.” I told her still with her fangs out strong and ready to bite, to kill. Like how all the newborn vampires are. 

“Here let me.” Naeun said as she pulled Eunji away from me. The newborn was about to attack Naeun the same way she did to me but when I’m ready to back her up, Eunji instead stood still.

What is it in Naeun that made Eunji weak? She became a lost puppy that have found her owner, she snuggle in Naeun’s arms. Shivers at the new level of cold that her body is transforming into. Stories like this only exists on fiction written by the other vampire and is not even in any history books.

“I can’t feel anything Naeun-ah. I can’t feel anything. Cold. Too cold.” Eunji mumbled and Naeun gave me a look and that’s when I remember what my parents did the moment I opened my eyes, fresh blood.

That night, we gave Eunji blood, we trained her at our utmost ability without any help from the older generations and so far Eunji’s doing a really good job. When we thought we got out of the most crucial part of making a vampire, well we haven’t.
