EIGHTEEN: Always have, Always will
PurebloodGetting back to my senses, I am welcomed by Bomi’s presence as I move my hands across the sheets. “Right.. she’s here.” I snuggled closer to her and Bomi returns the favor as she slides her arm under serving me as my pillow. “You stayed.” I muttered.
“Did you really expect me to just run off as you sleep?” Wait, what? Did I just-
“Was I sleeping?!” I asked as I opened my eyes because as far as I recall, vampires do not sleep. I don’t think we do. Wait, do we?
“Kind of. You were actually listening to my head, remember?”
The sun is about to rise as the curtains brighten while Bomi and I rest and cuddle up together under this white blanket. “Was I that good before?” she asked and I can’t help but laugh. Who even asks about these things?
“Can’t tell.” I teased. But if I’m being honest.. last night probably was the best, the hottest.
“Oh, Rongie. You were screaming my name.”
After all that we’ve been through, Bomi and I are here.. together. I still can’t believe that I am here taking comfort from her soft touch, her hands playing with my hair, her undeniably sweet smell, everything of her. “Bbom-ah.”
“.” Bomi’s mind suddenly becomes a mess, loud, and back with her incoherent words. She’s still the same Yoon Bomi that I know of indeed.
“Why?”
“Hmm? ‘Why’ what?” Bomi asked still playing dumb that after hearing the nickname I have of her, she’s thrown into confusion.
“Nothing.”
“I know, I shouldn’t be like this,” Bomi said as she looks at me with those dangerous pouty lips. She shouldn’t be doing that, for real. “And you’re making it hard for me.”
“What are you talking about? I’m just saying that you’re head is a mess.” I said as I gave in to the temptation of tasting her lips once again. One sweet peck should relieve my thirst.
“Don’t you ever wonder why you guys can’t hear what the council leaders are thinking?” Bomi asked. So that’s what she’s been worrying about, me hearing her thoughts. “We’re trained to conceal them, to try and not think of anything around other vampires. I thought I mastered it but you.. Rong, you break my cover so easily.”
“It’s nice.. to have that effect on you.” I said as we continue playing with each other’s hand. “You trained for just 50 years. Don’t be so hard on yourself, Bbom-ah.”
“Someone’s keeping tracks on her chosen one~ I’m honored.”
“At least I do. Unlike someone I know who’s been free for years but didn’t show up until the angel of death was ready to fetch me.” As much as I don’t want to ruin this serenity between us, one way or another.. this conversation is bound to come. “And you’re not my chosen one.”
“Is this about the President?” Bomi asked as she tightens our hug and gave me one soft kiss on the crown of my head. “Hear me out. My heart goes to you, Rong. Always have, always will.”
“Always have, always will.” I think this is the only assurance I need, I should really stop questioning what we have, stop doubting her love. Like what my father said, it’s something real. This is real, Bomi and I. “Hmm. I’ll hold on to that.”
“You better. Now go to sleep.”
“Please tell me you’re joking.”
“I am not, here try this.” Bomi said holding me even closer to her letting no air pass through between us. “Listen and take a good rest before another sun-free afternoon comes.”
And just like that, I followed. I listen one more time to her thoughts and it started fading into an empty void, nothing but tranquility.
“But how?” I asked still astounded by this whole sleeping thing.
“Simple, you listen to me while I recall how I sleep during my human years.” Bomi could only smile at the idea that I just experience what humans can that we vampires can’t “I guess it worked. Do you feel refreshed, baby?” what again?
“B-baby?”
Bomi then showed me her conversation with Eunji, no wonder why I dreamt about her! The sleep was quiet and peaceful until images of Eunji appears.
From: Eunji
You two good or what? If everything goes wrong, call her baby and she’ll cave in.
“That girl.. did you know that she calls Naeun ‘love’?! Pfft ‘baby’ is so much better!” I contest.
“I think both are just as lovely. Time to get up, baby.” Bomi said with such teasing tone and I’m not having it. This is not how I wanted that wonderful nickname go. Not as a joke.
“Stop it, Bomi.” I said getting off the bed as I pick up her clothes from last night and throw it to her, “Get dressed, we have so many things to do.”
“Can I ask what’s on the to-do list?”
“I’m gonna go get another house. This place is a wreck.”
“But I love this place. Can’t we just stay here?”
“Fine. But we still have to go get the electricity and water running, also new furniture.” I said, looks like we have to renovate the whole thing with the way our crazy friends left this, and the way I basically abandoned the place.
Bomi and I soon traveled to the city and did all the paper works for the house, argue over the simplest thing with the furniture like its color. We’re basically newlyweds at this point. We’ve also been socializing with humans for hours now and Bomi’s control and discipline are on another level for someone who is.. new.
“You’re surprisingly good at holding on to the bloodthirst.” I said as we walk aimlessly in this park near the shopping mall. It’ll take maybe a month before my place gets fixed. And I’m buying time as I contemplate where we would stay for the next days.
“Are you underestimating me, Rong?” Bomi seems to have taken my words differently as I’m pretty sure those eyes turned from calm to bein
