The moment 25-year old Kwon Eunbi died

She’d been running.

That much she was sure of.

From the dull ache in her legs, to the sharp burn of her lungs, she knew she had been running.

‘Wake up.’

Faces blurred past one by one.

Where did she come from? Where was she heading?

‘I’m sorry.’

A deafening sound.

An explosion of white.

‘Please come back to me.’

It didn’t occur to her then. She never grasped just what exactly it was the she was seeing. Only much, much later would she realize what it was that kept on playing over and over in her mind:

It was that moment when 25-year old Kwon Eunbi died.

“Wh-who are you?”

"Well, everything else looks to be in order.”

Kwon Eunbi closed her eyes, trying to blink away the residual burn from the offending light. Standing in front of her, a graying man in his sixties tucked the penlight on his pocket and gave a satisfied nodded. Dr. Kim Han Soo, the name on his white coat read.

“We just need to run a couple more tests and observe you for the next few day, just to be sure. After that, I don’t see any more reason to keep you in here longer than you’ve already been."

She let her head fall back on the pillow, her jet-black hair spilling listlessly on the stark-white sheets. She pressed a gentle thumb against her left eye. The edges of bandage wrapped tightly around her head felt rough and foreign against her palm.
