Chapter 25
Memories engraved in the season'sJongIn was in the middle of reading a report when his friend Minseok pops up in his office.
“Hey Minseok, what brings you here?” JongIn smiles, encircling his desk to give his friend a short hug.
“Just stopping by. Am I interrupting something?” Minseok raises a brow, gesturing toward an employee standing by JongIn’s table
“Oh no, it's fine.” JongIn taps on his shoulder and walks back to his desk, giving the report back to the employee.
“Mr. Yoon. The report itself seemed fine but there are some spelling mistakes here and there. One in the fifth line, seventh word. Another in the eleventh line, second word. I didn’t finish reading it because I am sure there are more spelling errors in there. Mr. Yoon, you have been with us for almost 3 years now, it isn’t like you to make such a rookie mistake. I can excuse you for now, but I hope you will not repeat such a thing in the future. Please make sure you check it properly and resubmit it to my secretary. Do you understand?”
Minseok lowly chuckles, Man, JongIn does have the talent to be a leader. He had always been extra talented. If it wasn’t for his reckless and playboy tactics, he would have been this competent all this time. Maybe there are a few things that you have to lose, or maybe, there are a few that you need, to bring out the best of you.
Once Mr. Yoon was out, JongIn guides Minseok over to his couch, Baekhyun joining them with three cups of coffee.
“Look like you remodeled your office?” Minseok glances at the long conference table sitting in the middle of the now-extended office.
JongIn was reluctant to extend his office, but after what Kyungsoo told him, he decided to go with it. He removed the divider between the two rooms and placed his bookshelf at the far end, along with a massage chair by its side. In the center of the room stood a massive 10-seated conference table, paired with black office chairs and glass flower vases filled with red roses, a gigantic golden modern chandelier hanging right above it.
It was really hard for him to even think about clearing out Chanyeol’s office. It had been there, abandoned but JongIn didn’t mind. It was like a reminder to him, that his best friend who once occupied that room is no more, so he has to work hard to live up to his lost friends' faith in him, prove to Chanyeol that is worthy to lead Elyxion on his own, prove it to him that he is worthy to Kyungsoo, prove it to him, that he is worthy of their friendship. But some things are meant to be changed. Maybe the room isn’t here anymore, but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t remember Chanyeol every second of his life. He will pick up and move on, keeping his best friend in his heart forever.
“Yeah, we thought we need a mini-conference room on this floor for minor team meetings, I got the old secretary's room renovated into a mini bedroom, for times when I have to stay overnight. Anyways, what brings you here? Aren’t you always busy on weak days, unless it is for Jongdae?”
“Well, that’s true and I am here because of work.” Minseok utters seriously, pulling out an envelope and tossing it on the coffee table.
“It was delivered to your office this morning. Baekhyun was the first one to open it and he immediately contacted me. It's better if you take a look.” JongIn glances down at the envelope, taking it into his hands and looking up at his secretary.
“What is this about?”
“Just open it JongIn. It isn’t that big of a deal but it was necessary for Minseok to get involved, so I contacted him.”
“Exactly. I am not just the legal adviser of Elyxion but also your lawyer, so I am right here to explain everything and discuss the issue with you.”
JongIn sighs, carefully opening the envelope and pulling out its contents. Inside were pictures of Kyungsoo, chatting, laughing, and smiling at a man and after a closer look, JongIn realizes it is the same alpha they bumped into at Lotte world, Kyungsoo’s childhood friend, Jung Hoseok.
“Do you know him?” Minseok questions “Because we don’t. Kyungsoo doesn’t really have any other friends so..” Baekhyun follows, guarded, both worried and dubious about it.
JongIn sighs once again, nodding his head. “Don’t worry. I know him. He is Kyungsoo’s childhood friend from the orphanage. We bumped into him at Lotte world. I remember his name being Jung Hoseok. He said he is a trauma surgeon at SNU Hospital. Kyungsoo did tell me that he would be meeting him some time ago. But these photos are absolute bull. Kyungsoo, he has all the right in this world to meet whoever he wants to.” Of course, of course he knows Kyungsoo has all the right in this world to meet an old friend but he couldn’t help but feel his heart heavy.
“Who is the one? Who is the one who dared to stalk him and click their pictures?!” the pain subsides, Rage clouding his head. Ever since his grand introduction of Kyungsoo at his brother’s wedding anniversary, the world got to know about his marital status. Despite it being a private party, the press got wind of this new information and started digging into his personal life. Thankfully, Kyungsoo’s pictures weren’t out, even if they did, Elyxion took them down immediately so no one knew who the Business Mughal Kim JongIn’s spouse look like. JongIn had offered Kyungsoo to have a couple of bodyguards with him all the time but the omega declines. If no
