To drop by at her place to check the daily newspaper that she left on her desk.

Whenever he passes by, the newspaper would be the excuse for him to stop by,

and to make a conversation with her...

"Not interested at the topic."

Those were her replies whenever he tried to create a conversation.

Truthfully, she wished to have better reply, to have longer conversation.
