Chapter 3
Always on Top
It had been two weeks into the semester and Donghae was curious as to how Hyukjae had kept up with all his assignments as well as dealing with practice for both soccer and dance. Currently, he was sitting with Kyuhyun and Sungmin for lunch, the others were getting lunch for themselves.
“Sungmin, how does Hyukjae do it?”
“Do what?” Sungmin asked
“Everything, I mean, he goes to soccer practice and dance practice and he still turns in all of his assignments on time and everything,”
“Oh, I have no idea, maybe he’s a genius?”
“That’s possible, but Hyuk just has really good time management skills,” Kyuhyun interjected the conversation, “he’s also very stubborn, but he knows what his limits are and won’t cross them,” Kyuhyun reassured
“Wow, I need to learn from him” Donghae pouted, he was a little scatterbrained and managed to always do things last minute. He wasn’t that involved in any clubs or anything but he was always just in his own world.
“Hey guys, what’re you talking about?”
“Nothing much, just wondering how you’re still alive,” Donghae said
“I wonder that too sometimes, but Donghae are you ready for the midterms coming up?”
“No,” Donghae pouted again,
“Yah, if you keep pouting your face will permanently become like that,” Kyuhyun told Donghae, to which Donghae’s mouth dropped open
“Donghae do you want flies to come into your mouth?” Heechul said, sitting down beside Kyuhyun. Donghae shook his head no, “Then close your mouth” Heechul chuckled at Donghae
“Geez, why are you all bullying me,” Donghae said
“Because you make it so easy for us”
“Oh no, not you too Sungmin, I think you’ve been spending too much time with Kyuhyun” Donghae said, glaring at his roommate. It was well established that Kyuhyun and Heechul were quick-witted.
“Oh, it’s Hyukjae,” someone said
“Oh, Hangeng hyung, Kangin hyung, join us,” Hyukjae said, getting up from his seat on the couches. The two decided to sit with their teammate.
Heechul’s eyes widened as he recognized the two figures, he quickly looked at Leeteuk, who seemed to be in the same state of shock, yet not exactly the same as Heechul.
“Oh, I just remembered, I have class”
“Okay, hyung, see ya later,” Donghae said watching Heechul frantically pack his things away and run before the two newcomers had a chance to see him.
“Everyone, this is Hangeng hyung, and this is Kangin hyung. We’re teammates in soccer, and Hangeng hyung recently joined the dance team with me,” Hyukjae introduced
“Good lord, Hyukjae, are you trying to kill the man?” Donghae asked incredulously while looking from Hyukjae to Hangeng
“It’s okay, I’ll manage, nice to meet you guys by the way,” Hangeng smiled.
The others introduced themselves to Hangeng and Kangin, and everyone had a good time talking at the end, on the couches only Leeteuk and Kangin were left.
“I didn’t know you were coming here,” Kangin said, breaking the silence that had engulfed the two of them after the others left for class.
“I didn’t know you were here either,” Leeteuk forced a smile while looking at Kangin, and then returned to face his laptop, which he had placed in front of him.
“Look, I know we have a little bit of a history but don’t you think it’s time to move forward?”
“Kangin-ssi, I wasn’t aware that six years was a little bit of history. Look, I wasn’t the one who caused the fight. I wasn’t the one who end
