Stigmatizing Depression
Beat Depression With Me (And Other Disorders)The biggest issue with our issue is that people look at us like we're insane, like there is something 'wrong' with us. They don't like hearing about it, when you say "I'm depressed" people say things like 'you'll get over it' or other such things that really only hurt us very badly in the end.
The stigmatism sorrounding our issues is the reason I did this group.
It's not bad to talk about your problems, It's bad to let them eat you alive. There are more than enough people out in this world who want to talk to you, and make you smile. Maybe they don't want to know everything that has happened in your life, maybe they don't want to directly give you advice about your situation, but they may want to share things with you to make you smile, kpop music, art, something special that makes them happy.
Don't ever look at yourself as having a problem when you are depressed. Never feel like you are not allowed to talk about it. Just consider the people you talk to. If you prefer, talk to close friends about your issues, if you can't that is alright too. you don't NEED to talk about the issues if you don't want to, but as someone who has had issues my whole life talking to epople, sometimes talking and validating our problems are real and aren't 'in our head' and are valid - sometimes that alone makes it feel much better. To know you're not on your own, you're not struggling alone, makes it change.
