I never thought we would get in touch again after many years.

The greeting disturbed me.

Luhan just got home from work and was about to take a shower when he heard his phone ring. He picked it up and saw that it was an unknown number from Korea. Thinking that it might be Lay, since they still keep in touch with each other, he answered it.

"Hey Lay, what's up?" Luhan asked

"It's not Lay." a familiar voice said. That was voice was from someone whom he haven't spoken with for a very long time.

"Minseok?" Luhan asked surprised.

"Hey Luhan, how have you been?" Minseok said rather calmly. Luhan felt uneasy with the question.

"I've been ok" Luhan said, nervousness seeping through his voice.

"That's good." Minseok said then there was an awkward silence.

Luhan didn't know what to say to Minseok. They haven't spoken for so long and both changed so much after being separated.

"I missed you." Minseok said breaking the silence between them.

"I missed you too Minseok" Luhan said sincerely.

The feeling of longingness filled both of their hearts with that simple declaration but for different reasons.

Out of the blue Luhan heard sobbing from the other side of the line.

"I'm sorry Luhan, I'm so sorry" Minseok said, he couldn't contain it anymore.

"Sorry for what?" Luhan asked, confused as to why Minseok was acting like this.

Minseok was inconsolable at this moment. He just kept crying and apologizing to Luhan.

After a few minutes he could hear Minseok slowly calming down, his previous sobs turning into small sniffles.

"Sorry about that Luhan. I don't know what came over me." Minseok said

Knowing Minseok for years he thought he had an idea why he was like that.

"Are you drunk?" Luhan asked gently, he knew that Minseok was sensitive when he was drunk.

"Yes." Minseok said honestly.

"Is that why you called me in the middle of the night?" Luhan asked

"No, I just wanted to hear your voice. I really missed you Luhan. Even though we haven't talked for so long." Minseok said

"Minseok you know that you could always call me whenever you need me. You're my best friend and I really missed talking to you as well. You know I've waited for you to call to be honest." Luhan said sincerely.

A yawn escaped from Luhan which made Minseok giggle.

"Maybe you should sleep now. I know that you're busy and it’s time for you to rest." Minseok said

"No, it's ok. This is the first time we've ever talked again so I don't want it to end yet." Luhan said

They continued talking about everything that had happened for the past years and it was a nice feeling that both of them were doing fine.

Luhan asked about the other members and Minseok was happy to answer all of his questions about them because he knew how much he missed his dongsaengs.

The atmosphere was great until one question made it serious.

"So Luhan, you're dating Guan Xiaotong huh." Minseok said

Luhan suddenly felt nervous, he had tried to avoid that subject knowing that it would ruin the mood.

"Yeah, I am." Luhan said, his voice a little bit shaky.

"Well congratulations Luhan, I heard from Lay that she's a wonderful girl." Minseok said cheerfully but Luhan knew better.

"Minseok you don't have to pretend. It's me Luhan, you can tell me anything. I would understand." Luhan said

"It's not that easy Luhan." Minseok said

"Why Minseok? We've been friends for years and you still don't trust me?" Luhan said starting to feel agitated

"It's not that Luhan." Minseok tried to reason with him.

"Then what?!" Luhan exclaimed reaching his peak.

Minseok finally let out the words that he had been keeping all these years.

"I love you Luhan and it hurts me to see you in the arms of another. It hurts hearing about how happy you are with her because I know deep down you will never look at me like how you look at her. I will always be just your best friend." Minseok said pouring his heart out to Luhan.

Tears continued streaming down Minseok's face and he had no intentions of wiping them away. He needed to let everything out or else it's going to kill him from the inside.

"Minseok..... I" Luhan was speechless. He didn't know how to react to Minseok's confession.

"You don't have to say anything Luhan. I understand and I accept that you don't feel the same way but I just couldn't keep it in anymore. I needed to tell you how I feel in order to let you go." Minseok said

"What do you mean Minseok?" Luhan asked

"I'm letting you go because that's the right thing to do. I realized that I'm not the person that is destined to be by your side Luhan and I need to accept it." Minseok said

Luhan was stunned by what was happening.

"Minseok why didn't you tell me this sooner?" Luhan asked

"I didn't want to ruin our friendship Luhan and I was scared that I'd lose you." Minseok said

"You would never lose me Minseok, you were and still are my best friend and nothing would ever change that." Luhan said

Minseok felt like a huge weight was lifted from his shoulders and it was as if he was freed from chains that were once holding him. He was happy that he finally had the closure that he needed to move on.

"I'm so happy to hear that Luhan." Minseok said

"Now that's the Minseok I know." Luhan said chuckling.

"Well I better get going now Luhan, I think you should get some rest now. It was really nice talking to you again. I just hope that this won't be the last." Minseok said

"Don't worry Minseok, it won't. Call me any time of the day if you need to talk to someone. I'm always on call." Luhan said

"Okay, bye Luhan" Minseok said softly

"Bye Minseok" Luhan replied

The call ended and Luhan was once again greeted with silence. Luhan took a deep breath and took out his old phone. He stared at his wallpaper as tears started falling from his eyes.

"This is for the best Minseok." Luhan whispered
