Chapter 20: In Your Arms

In Love With You

Jungkook glances at Jimin as they walk through the mall, towards Aldo’s Shoe store. Jungkook glances at him, wondering why Jimin wanted to go shopping all sudden? Was it random? Or did he not want to end the date as well? No matter the reason, Jungkook was overjoyed, he got to spend more time with him. As they walk into the store, the cashier calls to Jimin, Jungkook looks at Jimin who walks towards the cashier and Jungkook follows him,

“Hi,” says the boy cashier, he had blonde hair and brown eyes, he seems to be around the same age as them,

“Hey,” says Jimin, “A little quiet today.”

“Yeah,” replies the boy, “What’re you doing here?”

“What would I be doing in a mall?” asks Jimin, sarcastically, the boy shakes his head, glancing at Jungkook,

“Friend?” he asks looking at Jungkook, Jimin smiles at Jungkook,

“I’m here to buy a birthday present for my dad,” says Jimin, “You think I can get a discount?” The boy smirks, his eyes gazing at Jimin, Jungkook sighs, watching Jimin with this other guy, feeling uncomfortable, recognizing that look, the boy was flirting with him,

“Anything for you,” replies the boy, Jungkook guffs, moving to look around the store but glancing back at Jimin, laughing.

“What kinds of shoes do you think I should buy him?” ask Jimin, standing beside him, Jungkook turns to look at him, shrugging his shoulders,

“I don’t know your father,” he replies, dimly, “Get him whatever you want.” Jimin stares at him,

“Okay, I just wanted your opinion,” says Jimin, touching the shoes, “Hmm.” Jungkook stares at him, following him as he looks for what type of shoe to buy. He picks up a pair of black leather loafers,

“Oh, these are nice,” he says looking Jungkook, who smiles at him,

“Yeah, looks suitable for a businessman,” replies Jungkook, “You should buy them.” Jimin smiles, taking the box and walking up to the cashier. After chitchatting with the cashier, he takes the shoes and they head out.

As they head towards the car, Jungkook could not shake off the feeling of jealousy, watching Jimin flirting with that boy, instead, he walks silently, eyes on the ground. Jimin opens the car and Jungkook gets in, watching him as he starts the car. Jimin glances at him as he pulls out of the parking,

“Penny for your thoughts,” he says, looking over at Jungkook, Jungkook turns to look at him,

“Huh?”

“You’ve been weird since we went to the mall,” says Jimin, “What’s up?” Jungkook sighs, not wanting to start anything, he shakes his head, replying nothing. It gets quiet for a minute, as Jimin turns back to the front when the lights turn green,

“He’s just a friend,” says Jimin,

Jungkook looks at him baffled, “What’re you talking about?”

“Justin, he’s just a friend,” repeats Jimin, “You’ve no reason to be jealous of him.” Jungkook’s mouth opens to protest but nothing comes out, he sighs, biting his lips, Jimin is right, he is jealous. He does not understand why Jimin must flirt with everyone, whether is a boy or a girl. “I’m not jealous,” he mutters, glancing at Jimin, who seems to be serious,

“I’m sorry,” he says, “It’s a bad habit, we always talk like that with each other, I was insensitive.” Jungkook sighs, feeling bad for being jealous but he could not help it, even though he knows how flirtatious Jimin is but that is not what he was angry about. He is jealous because he cannot confirm their relationship to other people so more then Jealous, he is angry that he cannot even stop other people from flirting with him. He turns around, looking out the window, time went by fast, it was almost seven o’clock, staring out the window, he wonders how long Jimin wanted their relationship to be discreet.

Jimin pulls over at his house, Jungkook unbuckles his seat belt, he did not want to be angry at Jimin, he turns to him,

“Want to stay for dinner?” he asks, Jimin smiles,

“Can’t, dad’s birthday,” he replies, “My stepmom begged me to be there for dinner.” Jungkook nods his head, Jimin places his hand on his cheek, caressing it, his hands warm and soft, he moves closer, staring directly into Jungkook’s eyes. He sits frozen with excitement and wonder. He leans in, they close their eyes, breath shaking,

Thank you,” whispers Jimin, “Today was the best day I’ve ever had,” his voice wavering, before Jungkook could respond, Jimin gently pulls him and kisses him, taking Jungkook’s breath. It was slow and soft, comforting in ways words would never be, easing Jungkook’s troubled mind. They pull apart, gazing into each other’s eyes, Jungkook scans his eyes, trying to read his mind, but no thought stuck, his mind and body on fire, his heart was all over the place. Not understanding what was about Jimin that drives him crazy and makes him unable to control himself. Jimin backs away, smiling, running his fingers through his hair, feeling shy. Jungkook clears his throat,

“I had fun too,” he replies, “I’ll see you at school. Wish your dad happy birthday for me.” Jimin smiles, nodding his head, Jungkook chuckles as he gets out of the car. He closes the door, Jimin waves at him as he drives away, Jungkook waves at him back, watching him. His heart and stomach fluttering, is this what love is? Is this what if feels like to be in love?

Sunday Morning, still busking of the excitement of his first date with Jimin. He opens his eyes, staring at the clock, it was still early, eight o’clock am, he sighs, getting up. He ruffles his hair, grinning, he looks at the calendar, and his smiles disappear. He could not believe it was already March, he stares at the calendar at the circled date, March fifth, on Monday, was the day they lost their mom, his heart sinks at the thought of it. He sighs and goes to take shower. After showering, he puts on black basketball shorts and white t-shirt and heads outside, he can see the lights in his sister’s room, he sighs heading downstairs. He opens the fridge, grabbing a bottle of water, he gulps it down,

“Good morning,” a voice comes from behind him, he turns around staring at his sister, her hair was messy and still wet, she looks like she just got out of the shower, still in her pajamas. Jungkook stares at her wondering if he should mention the anniversary. His family never really talk about his mom’s death, it was like she went on a vacation and never came back. The only time he feels like she is gone is on her anniversary, his sister and dad are never the same on that day.

“Good morning,” he says, staring at her, he takes a sip of water,

“How was your date with Jimin?” she asks, taking out a pan and placing it on the stove. Jungkook stares at her, dumbfounded, wondering how she knew he was on a date with Jimin yesterday,

“Well,” she says, eyeing him, he clears his throat,

“It was fine,” he says, “We had fun.” She nods her head, smiling but her eyes seem so distant.

“Do you want an omelet? She asks, Jungkook nods his head and heads to his room. His sister, as usual, seems distant and indifference, she always does on their mom’s death anniversary, Jungkook does not blame her, it was painful for him as well to think about how Monday was the day their mom left the world.

Jungkook decides to work on his clay project after breakfast. The window slightly open with the cold wind blowing in the room with his phone connected to his speaker, listening to slow instrumental music, which he likes listening to when doing homework. Not able to focus, he stares at the clay, he sighs and goes to check on his sister. As he walks downstairs he hears noises coming from the living room, he sees his sister moving the couches,

“Um…what’re you doing?” ask Jungkook, confused, his sister turns around startled,

“, you scared me,” she says, “I don’t know, I thought the house needed redecorating, we had like this for years now, it feels weird.”

“Okay…” says Jungkook, “Do you need help?” His eyes scan the room and all the family pictures that used to hang on the wall were down on top of the table. Figuring she needed a distraction, Jungkook did not want to pester her with questions about her sudden need to redecorate the house.

After they were done rearranging the house, moving the pictures to the different wall and hanging more pictures of the three of them and two pictures with their mom. Jungkook clears his throat, glancing at his sister, she smiles at him and smiles back at her,

“Thanks,” she says, she clears , “Jungkook, I know we don’t normally do anything special for mom’s anniversary, but I was thinking…” her voice trails, Jungkook listens to her attentively, anticipating what his sister is going to say. She sighs, staring at the picture of their mom, holding Jungkook when he was a baby, “I know you don’t remember much about mom, because you were just a kid, but I was thinking maybe, we can have like a celebrating meal tomorrow, just us, outside, together. You know, just to show mom that we’re fine.” Jungkook stares at his sister, not knowing how to respond, they usually do their own things on her anniversary, but his sister is right, maybe spending time together on this specific day will make things hurt less when he thinks about his mom. He understands where she is coming from, she was nineteen years old when their mom died, and he was eleven, he might not remember as much as her, but he still remembers her, might just be what he needs to close the void in his heart whenever his mom is mentioned. He sighs,

“Okay,” he says, “I’m okay with it but make sure to tell dad ahead of time.”

“Do you think he’ll agree?” she asks, looking concerned, it would be amazing if he does, he usually buries himself in work, eleven years since their mom died but somehow their father never seems to want to talk about it.

“I don’t see no reason why,” says Jungkook, “It’s not like it’s the first one.”

The alarm blurs, waking up Jungkook but he felt like he did not get any sleep. His mind was clouded with thoughts of his mom but nothing specific, just random things, like her being the first person up in the house, coming from her exercises, cooking, such small things. He stares at the clock, vibrating on top the drawer, loud, he sighs and sits up, running his fingers through his messy hair, he turns off the alarm. He picks up his phone, and sees a message, he opens it, it was a message from Yugyeom and Crystal, we’re picking you up reads the message. He clicks on Jimin’s name, Good morning,” he types and clicks send. He decides to go take a shower. After showering he comes out of the bathroom, hair dripping water and towel wrapped around his waist, he picks up the phone, a message from Jimin, the message reads, Morning, Jungkook-ah. He smiles, he loves it when Jimin calls him Jungkook-ah, feeling shy. He wants to see him in the morning, but his friends are already on their way to pick him up, something they do on his mom’s anniversary, they did the same thing last year. Jungkook decides to let Jimin know that he is going to school with his friends, but he would love to meet up with Jimin. Jimin replied to him, asking him to meet him at the school roof, Jungkook gladly agreed, nothing can make his day better than being with Jimin.

As his friends pull over, Jungkook walks up to the car, “Hey lover boy,” greets Yugyeom, as Jungkook gets in the car, in the backseat with Crystal driving and Yugyeom in the passenger seat. He rolls his eyes ignoring his taunting,

“So how did the date go?” ask Crystal, Jungkook stares at her, eyes wide, he glances at Yugyeom, who shrugs his shoulder, “Was it supposed to be a secret?” Jungkook smiles at Crystal,

“Not from you, but I would like it if it does not go beyond you guys, Jimin wants to be discreet.”

“Hmm,” says Yugyeom, “I don’t run my mouth, well of course unless its Crystal, you know how annoying she can get.” Crystal punches him in the shoulder, causing Yugyeom to scream,

“ you,” she says, “I only forced him to tell me because you never got back to me about the party?”

“What party?” asks Jungkook,

“Never mind what party, you never got back to me,” says Crystal, glaring at him through the rearview mirror, “Now that you’re dating him, you going to neglect us.” Jungkook guffs, shaking his head,

“Aren’t you being a bit dramatic?” he replies not in the mood for an argument, Crystal sighs, looking forward.

“Anyway,” says Yugyeom, “You guys want to hang out tonight?”

“Can’t,” replies Jungkook, “My sister wants a family dinner for my mom’s anniversary.” Crystal and Yugyeom both turn around, surprised,

“Hmm?” says Crystal, “That’s nice.”

“I guess,” says Jungkook.

They arrive at school and head towards their lockers, remembering that Jimin asked him to meet up with him on top of the school roof, Jungkook decides to tell his friends, he would see them at lunch. As much as he loved being with his friends, he couldn’t stand them looking at him with pettiness, feeling sorry for him because his mom is dead. Without giving them much room to protest he walks away towards the school roof. Glancing back to see if any teacher was in sight but the math building hallway is usually empty, so he was not as worried. He heads up the stairs and opens the door, Jimin was not there yet. He sighs and walks to the edge, he takes out his phone to see if Jimin messaged him, there are still twenty minutes left until the first bell. No message, Jungkook sighs putting his phone back in his pocket, he leans over. A slight cold wind brushes against his cheeks, he closes his eyes, breathing in the fresh morning air with a hint of dirt, cement, and grass to it. His mind drifting into far-off memories.

An arm on his back, slightly startles him, causing him to turn around quickly,

“Why so jumpy?” asks Jimin, staring at him, Jungkook chuckles,

“Hey,” he says, “You’re late.”

“Sorry, woke up late,” replies Jimin, “I rushed over here though.” Jungkook smiles, turning around, wondering if he should tell Jimin that it’s mom’s anniversary but then decides against it, he does not want Jimin to feel sorry for him like his friends, he would rather have him smile, seeing him happy makes him happy too.

“How was your dad’s birthday?” he asks, Jimin moves beside him, his shoulder brushing against Jungkook, he sighs,

“Well, as perfect as it can go,” he replies, “We had to pretend we like each other so that’s that.” Jungkook glances at him,

“Can I ask you something?” asks Jungkook, Jimin smiles, staring at him curiously,

“Yeah.”

“Why…don’t you like try to get along with your stepmom and sister?” he asks, dimly, Jimin stares out into the distance, thinking of how to answer, he smiles and glances at Jungkook,

“Honestly? I don’t even know,” he says, “I just can’t stand them.”

“Yeah, but if you wanted to you can get along with them, so why not at least try?” insist Jungkook, Jimin guffs,

“Because…she is the reason my parents could never get together,” he says, angry. Jungkook stares at him baffled, not believing what he is hearing. He knew Jimin is sometimes childish, but he did not realize how immature and selfish he can sometimes be also, but not wanting to anger him, Jungkook places his hand on his head, taking him by surprise.

“You’re really cute, you know,” he says, gently patting him on the head. Jimin glares at him but his blushing cheeks betrays his act of anger, he sighs,

“I know I sound selfish,” he says, “But would you like if you dad remarries and completely forces you to forget your mom?” The question takes Jungkook by surprise, taking his hand off his head, he never thought of his dad remarrying because his father himself never says anything, he doesn’t even know if he still dates, it’s been eleven years since their mom died and his father never spoke about another woman. Jungkook smiles, staring at Jimin,

“I would want my father to be happy,” he says, his voice breaking, “My mom is dead, there is no point of making him suffer and be lonely.” Jimin stares at him, deep into his eyes as if reading his thoughts, silent for a second,

“You look sad today, is everything alright?” Jungkook chuckles, turning away, cursing at himself, he thought he hid it well,

“Today is the day my mom left us,” he says, quietly, avoiding eye contact with Jimin,

“Oh,” says Jimin, caressing his back, “I’m sorry, today’s your mom’s anniversary and I’m to busy complaining about my issues.” Jungkook glances at him, he smiles but he can tell Jimin does not buy it, he can see his sadness but stares at him,

“You know you can talk to me, right? “says Jimin,

“I know, but I'm not in the mood,” says Jungkook, clearing his throat, “Let’s head to class, the bell is going to ring soon.”

“Okay,” says Jimin.

Even as they work on their clay project that was due on Wednesday, Jungkook was unable to utter more than a few sentences, nodding whenever someone asks him something. His eyes kept catching Jimin’s gaze, who smiles at him every now and then. Rachel and Sasha asked him if he was feeling alright since he was being quieter than usual, as he much as he tried to bury his mind into his project he could not concentrate on it, he did not realize thinking about his mom would make, an ache in his heart that comes and goes. Class went by fast but for Jungkook he felt like it was never going to come to end, distracted he was not able to get much done on his project.

During lunch, sitting with Jimin and his friends and Yugyeom and Crystal things seemed normal, listening to people on the table, chitchatting and laughing, he realizes how close everyone has gotten, it was intriguing to see, still a bit awkward but no tension in the air. Seeing his friends getting along with Jimin’s friends mad him happy. Jimin slightly nudges his shoulder, Jungkook turns to look at him, not realizing he was in a daze.

“Why’re you spacing out?” asks Jimin, staring at him, Jungkook smiles, shaking his head,

“I’m not,” he replies, Jimin smiles at him, Liam clears his throat, everyone turns to look at him,

“Say, not be nosy but are you two dating?” Jungkook’s eyes widen, he glances at Jimin, the whole table gets quiet, so his friends don’t know? Wonders Jungkook, Jimin rolls his eyes, unlike Jungkook, whose heart was on his sleeve, Jimin remained calm, just a little annoyed.

“And If we are?” replies Jimin, glaring at Liam. Liam raises his hands in defense,

“Hey, I was just curious, I knew there was a reason why hanged around Jimin,” he says, looking at Jungkook, “You totally had a crush on him.”

“Maybe you should mind your own business,” says Rachel, eyeing her boyfriend, Liam shrugs his shoulders, taking a bite of his sandwich.

“That’s cute,” says Sasha, “They totally make cute couples.”

“I would appreciate if it doesn’t make it on the news,” says Jimin sarcastically, his friends quietly stare at him, realizing he was irritated.

“Oh, I would like to see how long this one last,” says Liam, laughing, Jungkook stares at him, puzzled, what the hell is that supposed to mean? Jimin sighs loudly, the whole table gets quiet, Yugyeom exchanges looks with Jungkook but Jungkook just shrugs his shoulder.

“Maybe you shouldn’t run your mouth so much,” he replies, aggressively, his eyes narrow and cold, staring hard at Liam. Jungkook dumbfounded, remained quiet as everyone else, the air around them got cold, Jungkook has never seen Jimin angry, he’s seen mad or irritated but never angry as he is glaring at Liam.

“Sorry,” says Liam, clearing his throat, “I was just joking.”

“Yeah, well jokes are supposed to be funny,” replies Jimin, shaking his head. Liam guffs,

“Why’re you making a big deal? I said sorry.” Jimin was going to say something but Jungkook takes his hand underneath the table, gently squeezing it to calm him down, the last thing he wants is for him to fight with his friends. Jimin turns to Jungkook, who smiles him, he sighs, Jungkook lets go of his hand.

“Liam, would you shut up?” says Rachel, glaring at her boyfriend, who slightly opens his mouth to protest but decides it was best not to say anything.

“Sorry Jungkook,” says Rachel, “He can be an idiot sometimes, I hope he didn’t offend you.” Jungkook smiles, he didn’t feel offended, he was surprised Liam would say such thing as a joke, but he realizes he says things before thinking. Jungkook had an idea to what Liam was referring to, Jimin is his friend and he has been in a lot of relationship with people that did not last long, it was an idiotic thing to say but he decides it’s best to not dwell on it.

“Anyway,” says Yugyeom clearing his throat, everyone turns to look at him, “Um, Crystal has a game tomorrow, you guys want to go watch it?”

“Game?” says Sasha,

“Yeah, she is on the volleyball team, Jungkook and I are going, maybe you guys want to join us.” Yugyeom stares at Jungkook, who just smiled at his attempt to change the subject but the tension at the table was still high. Everyone quietly mutters something, incoherent and went back to eating their lunch.

The rest of the day went by smoothly, Jungkook was able to get a ride from his friends, and Crystal gave them details about the game, against The Hills.  It was an away game and she threatened them that they better be there or else she would never speak to them again, realizing that she is not joking Yugyeom and Jungkook had no choice but to agree.

Jungkook was in his room working on his project, he decided to sculpt something easy such as a flower, as much as he loves art, he was not in the mood to go all out, even though he chose to sculpt a rose, he realizes it is not as easy as it seems in the pictures. Getting annoyed, he stares out the window, the sun already starting to set and the street lights illuminating the roads, it would be cool if it rained. He sighs, turning back at the half-finished rose, he must finish it today, they are painting it tomorrow and then it’s due on Wednesday.

“Ahh!” he exclaims ruffling his hair, the door opens,

“Hey, busy?” asks his sister, he turns around in his chair, crossing his arms,

“What to do you want?” he asks,

“Help me set up the barbecue grill,” she says. Jungkook stares at her puzzled,

“Why?”

“Cause’ I decided it would be more fun to have a barbecue, it’s been awhile, besides we have family dinners all the time.” Jungkook exhales, not understanding why his sister is putting so much effort into this anniversary.

“Can’t you make something simple, you really think dad would want to be outside for a barbecue?” complains Jungkook, setting up the grill, they have not used in years was going to be a pain, he stares at her hoping to change her mind, but instead she glares at him, arms crossed. Jungkook sighs,

“Okay,” he says, “I’ll set it up.”

“Thanks,” she says, “Dad, promised he would make it for dinner.” closing the door, Jungkook stares at his clay flower, he wets a towel and gently wraps the clay and places it inside a plastic bag to keep it from hardening and ruining the work he had already done.

Everything in the backyard was set up nicely, there was and drinks on the table. Sitting across from each other, they exchange looks and burst out laughing,

“Maybe we overdid it a bit,” says Jeongyeon, “Who is going to eat all this food?” Jungkook chuckles, staring at the grill that still had burgers cooking on it,

“Well, looks like you don’t have to cook for at least a week,” he says, teasing her. Jeongyeon checks her watch,

“It’s almost nine,” she says, “Where is he? He promised he would be here at eight.” Jungkook shrugs his shoulder, getting up to check on the burgers that are still grilling,

“Maybe he is finishing up,” he says, flipping a burger.

“Maybe,” says Jeongyeon, getting up, “I’m going to call him and ask.”

“Okay,” says Jungkook, staring at his sister, hoping his dad really was just finishing up work, his sister would be disappointed if he does not show up. Looking forward to having a barbecue dinner with his dad and sister while remembering their mom, made him happy, as much as he protested when his sister told him to help, he realizes how much he has missed having a family barbecue, it’s been years since his family had one. His sister comes back, he could tell by her face, it was not good news, hand down and hunched form said everything before she spoke,

“He had to cancel, to much work,” she says quietly, clenching her fist and gritting her teeth, she looks at Jungkook, “You can just turn it off, I’m not in the mood to eat.”

“We can just eat by ourselves,” says Jungkook, hoping to convince his sister but her eyes cold and face red with suppressed rage, she sighs and storms back into the house. Jungkook sighs disappointed and sad, it was not the first time their dad canceled out on them, but he really hoped he would make it for dinner. Jungkook no longer has any appetite, turns off the grill and starts packing the food to put in the refrigerator, it would be a waste to throw it all. As he slowly puts the food in the refrigerator, he sees his sister walking past the kitchen.

“Where you are going?” he asks, following her,

“Out,” she says, walking out and slamming the door behind her before Jungkook could say something else. Jungkook clenches his fist, his chest tightens into a knot, fierce.

“Argh!” he exclaims, wanting to cuss out his father but just decides to clean up instead.

By the time he was finished, it was already ten o’clock, feeling the coldness in the house, he decides to go to bed early. He takes a shower, the hot water calming him down. After showering, he puts on a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt. He climbs on his bed, decides to check his phone for missed calls, there was nothing, not even a message from Jimin, he figures they probably think he is having dinner with his family. Staring at the phone, with so many thoughts in his mind, he feels restless. He sighs, he clicks Jimin’s name, hey, sleeping? he types and clicks send, waiting for a reply, he decides to play a game on his phone, the phone quickly beeps, no, just coming off work, what’s up? Reads the message, Jungkook sighs, wondering if it would be weird to ask Jimin to come over? He stares at the screen, can’t sleep, home alone, wanna come over? he quickly types and clicks send. Anticipating his answers, he puts the phone down, after a few minutes a message pops up, he picks up the phone, sure, I can pass by there, it’ take me twenty minutes, see ya, reads the message, Jungkook immediately grins, his heart racing.

Waiting for Jimin, Jungkook paces back and forth in the living room, the television on but unable to focus on what was going on. With his sister and dad not home, he was glad Jimin was coming over to keep him company, but he feels bad since he just got off work. Staring at the door, he sighs, a knock comes at the door and he rushes to it. Jimin stands in front of him in a black shirt and jeans with a green leather jacket and a black snapback with his backpack over his shoulder. Jungkook moves aside to let him in, Jimin smiles walking past him,

“Your dad and sister at work?” he asks, staring at Jungkook, Jungkook clears his throat, still in disbelief, he could not stop gazing at him, so handsome. Jimin takes off his snapback, running his fingers through his hair.

“Hello,” says Jimin, “I’m talking to you.” Jungkook chuckles,

“Sorry,” he says, “Um, yeah, my dad is still at work and my sister steps out.” Jimin nods his head,

“Can I take a shower? I told my dad I was sleeping at a friend,” says Jimin. Jungkook in a daze stares at Jimin,

“Sleepover?”

“Yeah, it’s almost eleven o’clock,” says Jimin, “I’m not driving back home, it’s not a problem is it?” Jungkook shakes his head no,

“Your parents don’t mind?”

“No,” says Jimin, “So can I take a shower?”

“Yeah, in my room,” replies Jungkook, following him.

Jimin comes out of the shower shirtless in his black jeans, Jungkook sitting on the bed, could not help but stare at him, the thought of Jimin sleeping over starting to soak in his brain. It was not the first time he saw him shirtless, but standing in front of him now, he realizes how handsome Jimin is, as beautiful as his face is, his body is a different story. Jungkook hands him his shirt, Jimin takes it, sitting on the bed, beside him,

“Your dad won’t mind me sleeping over?” asks Jimin, ruffling his hair with his fingers,

“Not really,” says Jungkook, “He comes from work late and leaves early, we barely see him.” Jimin nods his head, he turns to look at Jungkook, his gaze taking him by surprise,

“So, the dinner didn’t happen?” he asks softly, Jungkook sighs, he was hoping that topic does not come up, just the thought of it made his blood boil, still in disbelieve that his dad stood them up like that after promising.

“He got caught up with work,” replies Jungkook, “My sister was so pissed, she went out.” Jimin nods his head, he gets up from the bed and walks to his backpack, he takes out his cell phone and charger. Jungkook follows him with his eyes as he plugs in his phone, placing it in the drawer. He stretches out his arms over his hand, yawning. Unable to control himself, Jungkook gets up and wraps his arms around Jimin, squeezing him against his chest, taking him by surprise but Jimin stands still. Leaning, he gently rests his chin against Jimin’s back.

“I’m really happy, you’re here,” mutters Jungkook,

“Are you okay?” asks Jimin, turning his head, Jungkook keeps hugging him tightly,

“I just want to stay like this for a minute,” he replies, “Just for a minute.” They stand quietly, with Jungkook squeezing Jimin, an ache in his heart coming and going.

“I miss her,” says Jungkook quietly, “Today was supposed to be about her but my dad ruined everything, he always ruins everything.” Jungkook can feel Jimin’s chest move up and down as he exhales, not saying anything, “I miss her.” Continues Jungkook, “I miss my mom, I wish she was still here with us.” Tears forming in his eyes, he quietly sobs onto his back, stifled at first as he attempts to hide his grief. Jimin holds on to his arms that are wrapped around him, caressing them gently, telling him it was okay to let it out without saying a single word, Jungkook closes his eyes unable to control his sadness, his tears roll down his cheek one by one, drenching Jimin’s shirt, mumbling unintelligible words, as Jimin held his arm in silence, it’s been a long time since Jungkook cried over his mom. He hated it, cursing his sister for making it a big deal, wondering why she would not just let it go as they used to do, each doing their thing. Doing nothing had to be better than the piercing pain in his heart.

Jungkook takes a deep breath, unwrapping his arms, he turns around, feeling embarrassed. He wipes his tears with his sleeve, unable to look at Jimin, he chuckles, gritting his teeth, trying to hold back his tears.

“Sorry,” he says, his voice cracking, “Today was supposed to be a good day, sorry.” He glances at Jimin, who was gazing at him, staring into his eyes, Jimin did not petty him or feel sorry for him, his eyes had sadness in them, it was as if he was looking at a reflection in the mirror. His soft brown eyes gazing at Jungkook comfort, his eyes are the reason he fell in love with him since that day he saw him at the on that field as he stopped the ball Jungkook was running after. Gazing at him, Jungkook could not help but smile, he really hates crying, he would always get a headache in the morning, but somehow, he feels like a heavy stone was lifted from his chest, he feels like is able to breathe.

“Sorry, I wet your shirt,” he says, laughing, Jimin stands in front of him, but Jungkook averts his eyes, feeling embarrassed for sobbing like a child and unguarded. Without saying anything, Jimin leans forward and kisses him on the lips, his soft lips pressing hard against Jungkook’s, taking by surprise. It was a quick kiss, Jimin stares at him, smiling, Jungkook searches his eyes, enticing yet comforting and before he could say anything, he pulls him closer, eyes closing taking his lips, his hands cupping Jimin’s face, pulling him closer against his body. The world vanishes instantly eradicating any sadness and pain in his heart, something about this feeling makes Jungkook feel like everything will be okay.

In arms, Jungkook finds himself surrendering, completely defenseless and vulnerable, something he has not felt with anyone, Jimin’s embrace somehow warmed up his body and heart, so warm yet so different than any embrace he has ever been given, so warm his mind was at ease, wishing they remain like this forever.

The sequel right now is on draft, I was excited to start it but then another plot starting bugging me so I decided to write that one first and then the sequel. Sometimes I get excited and rush through things and I hate doing that with my writings. So wait for a while, I will be finishing the sequel after Love Maze, I don't like doing two stories at the same time lol. Thank you for liking my stories.
