“Jongin says he wants to attend college,” Junmyeon suddenly announced during dinner making Kai nearly drop his chopsticks.

Both he and his father look up from their food towards him. Both equally shocked.

“Really?” His father was the first one to recover. He turned towards him now making Kai silently curse. “And what do you plan to take up?”

“Uh…” He frantically look over to his brother for help. He seriously knew nothing about this.

“Apparently he is still very puzzled with what to take right now,” Junmyeon butts in again saving him. Kai lets out a small sigh of relief.

“Well what is your goal?” His father turns towards him again. “I do hope it is not something silly like suddenly wanting to become a singer. Your brother went through that phase once.”

“Dad!” Junmyeon suddenly whines in embarrassment, his hands covering his face.

Kai gaped at his brother, eyes wide at what he just heard. That thing actually happened? He couldn’t help but smile at the revelation. Even their father was laughing.

This was the warmest meal they had ever had, aside from those far away times, almost some lifetimes away dinners with their mother. His smiles slowly dissolve thinking how happy his mother might be if she were here and that they were mending their relationship slowly.

His father clears his throat, as though he also noticed how the situation suddenly was.

Then he smiled sadly and Kai couldn’t believe his father also

Chapter 66: I finished this in one go. And I'm thinking what to comment, actually reading this makes me think hard. About Ari, about Kai and all life stuff. lol. anyway, this hurts knowing if only Kai reached out to her, by then this won't end like this. But then again, its in human nature so I understand Kai. He is selfish to only think of his own problems but he is already drowning in his own demons to see that others are suffering as well. But I'm happy everything turns out well for him in the end. And I also salute Ari, she fight long enough though she decided to give up and rest in the end. She is brave enough to at least help and be there for Kai even if she is also drowning in her own demons.

Thank you for this one and I hope you are okay now. If in any case you need someone just to listen to you and has no one else, you can PM me. Cheers for more great work Ms. Author 💙

Chapter 66: This hurts

But I'm grateful for your final message. Life is precious, no matter how difficult at the time. I didn't end up as Ari but I did have a time like her. It's hard not to drown in our own pain and miss that of others. I feel reminded to see beyond myself.

I hope you (and fellow readers) always take care <3
