Chapter 11
ForeseeChapter 11,
“What’s going on?” Yeseul interrupts. She glances at Sejong and then to me.
Dohwan turns towards me eyeing me like I had lied to him. In a way I had, but not really I just chose not to tell him.
“What do you mean a dream where you saw how she died?” Dohwan says indirectly asking me since he was staring straight at me.
I mean he had the right to be mad. I hadn’t told him about Sejong’s ability.
“I’m like Taeran, I see how people die.” Sejong’s voice says firmly. “Except I see how people die through my dreams.”
Dohwan raises an eyebrow. “When did you plan on telling me this?”
I swallow lowering my gaze. “Tonight actually.”
He nods and moves to the side. “Go on, it seems urgent.”
I knew he was sad but I couldn’t stay behind and console him. I had to hear what Sejong dreamt about. He came all the way to my house to tell me about the dream, it was really real, I would die soon.
I keep my head lowered and move towards the door.
My mother clears . “Why can’t you stay here and tell everyone all at once?”
Sejong shakes his head towards me letting me know that it was best to be alone. I turn towards my mother. “It wasn't that long ago you were forcing me out of the house, I'm sure you'll be more than fine if I'm gone for one more night.”
She flinches a bit at my comment clearly upset about it. It was for the best, I tell myself. I continue out into the hall following after Sejong until we’re back at the park near my apartment complex. We sit down on the bench just like we had during the school week and on Sunday night.
After a moment of silence I can’t take it anymore. “What did you see?”
I like usual can't bring myself to look at him at first, it usually takes a few moments for me to work up the nerve to. “I think I figured out why you can’t see Dohwan die.”
My eyebrows crease and I whip my head in his direction. “What do you mean?”
He takes a deep breath and lets it out. “When I went to bed last night I was expecting a dream, Monday I was bedridden from the migraine I had. Like I told you on Sunday I saw it coming."
My hands find each other in my lap and squeeze tight. “Sejong cut the big story and just tell me.” I was nervous. I hadn’t even thought about myself dying before Sejong brought it up the other day, I was constantly thinking about other’s deaths.
He bites his lip turning away from me. “The dream opened up as you got a bus, I think it was headed to Myeong-dong. The bus was full but one seat was open, you offered it to the older woman who got on behind you. She thanks you and calls you by your name.” He pauses again swallowing. “The bus takes off catching you off guard so you stumble a bit, right into someone standing next to you. You turned and faced that person and come
