F*** It
Forced to Date You“He was nice, okay?” Wendy just laughed at Chanyeol’s overprotectiveness. “If I didn’t know you well I’d say you were jealous!” Wendy teased Chanyeol.
“Maybe I was,” Chanyeol whispered, looking at the ground.
“What?” Wendy asked, not hearing what Chanyeol just said.
Chanyeol looked up to Wendy.
it.
“I said… I was jealous.”
“I’m not sure I heard that correctly—”
“I was jealous, okay? I am jealous,” Chanyeol uttered, rubbing his forehead in frustration. Chanyeol thought that that was the worst possible way he could confess that he loved Wendy, and it was all going downhill from there. “The driver clearly wanted to go out with you – I could tell even if I didn’t understand what he was saying, and I was jealous. There. I’m jealous because I like you. No, scratch that. I am in love with you. I think I have been the past few years. And I don’t know why I’m saying this to you now and why I’m rambling. Baekhyun and the others told me I should tell you now, but it’s obviously a bad idea. I know that with this I’ve probably ruined our friendship forever – God – and it’s the last thing I want to happen, but maybe you could just forget all this happened when we go back to Korea. But I just needed to get that off my chest. I am in love with my ing best friend, and it because I really don’t want to lose you in my life. Like I know I’ll be fine or whatever like what Meejin said at her wedding but it’s just nice to have someone to talk to and understands me and tolerates me and you’re the only one and I can’t stop loving you just like that you know it’s just not possible—”
Chanyeol’s wordvomit was cut off when Wendy suddenly kissed him. It was just a small peck, but he was stunned. He was so busy staring at the ground and panicking during his whole monologue that he didn’t see Wendy’s expression while he was confessing. When Chanyeol admitted that he was jealous, Wendy felt like her heart stopped beating. Is he saying what I think he’s saying?, she thought to herself. When the full-on ramble started, she couldn’t think straight. They were so stupid – both of them were actually in love with each other but were hesitant because they didn’t want to lose the friendship. The Red Velvet and EXO members were right – Wendy and Chanyeol were in love with each other, and everyone could see it, except for the both of them. And here Wendy was worrying that she would lose her best friend, agonizing for weeks because of it. Once she realized what Chanyeol was indeed saying – and he just kept on rambling – she just decided to stand on her tiptoes and kiss him lightly on the lips to shut him up. He’d probably get the message, right?
Wendy pulled herself away from the kiss, and Chanyeol just stared at her, stunned. Before he could think too much about it, Chanyeol put his hands on Wendy’s face and kissed her. It felt like Wendy was shocked, too (even if she did kiss him first), but she reciprocated and kissed Chanyeol back seconds later. The two lost themselves in each other, not caring even if there were people who saw them. . It. They finally knew how they felt about each other, and they were happy. Chanyeol moved his hand from Wendy’s jaw to the nape of her neck, deepening their kiss, and Wendy hold onto the front of Chanyeol’s shirt tighter. He’s kissed a hundred girls in his lifetime (probably), but none felt as good, as satisfying, as kissing someone he truly loved. And it helped that she was a damn good kisser.
While Chanyeol didn’t want the moment to end, his idol senses came back to him, growing worried if fans were nearby (though they were around two blocks away from the hotel – one can never really be sure). He pulled away slightly, and he kept his forehead close to Wendy’s, bowing down slightly to reach her tiny frame. Chanyeol stole another quick kiss before pulling back completely, rubbing his thumbs gently on her cheeks, and brushing the hair away from Wendy’s face.
“This really wasn’t what I expected,” Chanyeol said shyly, smiling while rubbing the back of his head. “But that… was nice.”
“We are so dumb,” Wendy laughed. “I guess our members were right about us. We are dense.”
“You don’t know how relieved I am to find out that you, well uh, I’m… well, I’m assuming, since you know, you kissed me and everything—”
“Shut up,” Wendy cut Chanyeol’s stuttering off. “I just kissed you. Of course I like you. Uh. No. Maybe… love? Yeah, I maybe kinda love you.”
“Maybe? Just maybe? I just confessed my heart out like a few minutes ago—”
Wendy give him a quick kiss to his cheek. “I love you,” she said right after. “That good enough for you?”
Chanyeol smiled so brightly in response that the side of his eyes crinkled. “I love you,” Chanyeol replied. “God, it feels so ing great to say that. I feel like my jaw might hurt later because I can’t stop in’ smiling.”
“That makes two of us, then,” Wendy responded, her cheeks colored a deep red from blushing. “I really owe my members a treat. Especially Seulgi.”
“Suho, Baekhyun, and Sehun for me. But actually, if I think about it, I think I owe all of them a treat. I feel ing awesome right now. Everyone gets a dinner from me. For free.”
“I hate to be a Debbie downer but we’re going back to Seoul tomorrow,” Wendy quipped, pouting slightly. “We need to be more careful, Chanyeol. I mean, even if they know we’re together, still. We don’t want to push our limits.”
“I know,” Chanyeol agreed. “We have to head back to the hotel, but maybe we can still enjoy a little more of tonight?” Chanyeol asked as he offered his hand for Wendy to hold. Wendy grinned from ear to ear and took Chanyeol’s hand in hers.
They strolled the sidewalk in silence, both smiling at each other, feeling giddy from the turn of events that just happened. The pair stopped before the crossing a block away from the hotel.
“I think the fans might be somewhere near,” Chanyeol sighed. “And I’d hate myself if they saw us and they did something to you. I know you can handle yourself, but that doesn’t mean I’m not worried. I’ve always worried about you, you know that.”
“You’re so extra,” Wendy scoffed, but beamed nonetheless. “Even more now that we’re, uh… together. Maybe I shouldn’t have confessed—”
“You take that back!” Chanyeol protested.
“I’m kidding,” Wendy laughed. “Why are you smiling out of the blue? You were just annoyed like seconds ago,” Wendy asked, confused at Chanyeol’s sudden change of demeanor.
“Nothing, I just realized you said that we’re together.”
“Well, we are, aren’t we?”
“Yeah. You’re my real girlfriend now,” Chanyeol said. Wendy couldn’t help but blush at what Chanyeol just said, and she looked at the ground beneath her. She’s his real girlfriend now. Chanyeol’s her boyfriend. “That sounds really nice. My mother would be ing ecstatic.”
“Oh yeah. We have to tell her. And my parents, too. Oh my god,” Wendy suddenly put her other hand – the one Chanyeol wasn’t holding – to cover in worry. “My dad. My dad!”
“ my life. !” Chanyeol muttered.
“My dad actually might go to prison now, now that we’re… real,” Wendy said playfully.
“Shut up,” Chanyeol answered. “You’re not helping! You already know I’m ing terrified of your dad. , , .”
“Relax, it’s going to be fine, and he really isn’t that scary,” Wendy said, pinching Chanyeol’s cheeks. “But we really have to go back now. We can discuss this tomorrow, yeah?”
“Tomorrow,” Chanyeol agreed.
Wendy suddenly let go of Chanyeol’s hand, trying to remove his jacket from her body.
“No, no, keep it,” Chanyeol insisted.
“This is your ual fantasies hoodie,” Wendy answered. “Everyone knows it’s yours!”
“Maybe I don’t give a ,” Chanyeol shrugged. “Just go! Go first. I’ll follow later.”
“Fine,” Wendy relented. “Good night.”
“No good night kiss?” Chanyeol couldn’t help but tease his now-girlfriend.
“Don’t push it,” Wendy warned him.
“Hey, I was kidding, and I totally respect your boundaries and I’m sorry if that made you uncomfortable in any way—” Chanyeol was cut off from his monologue once again when Wendy gave him a quick peck on the lips.
“Good night,” Wendy smiled before walking across the street, going back to their hotel.
Chanyeol just stayed put, not able to move even if he wanted to. He was dumbstruck, in a good way. He couldn’t believe how things panned out – did that really just happen? He was always a spontaneous guy, sure, but he never thought of confessing that way. He was the smooth talker, the one who always knew what to say to the girls, and he really thought that he ruined it when he started full-on confessing to Wendy without pause. He really should’ve trusted s a bit more – that Wendy wouldn’t reject him. He felt stupid now – all those ing weeks, months, or maybe years even, we could’ve been together already, he thought to himself. But at least the confessing part was over.
They were real now.
And Wendy. His best friend. Who just kissed him to shut him up. Who was always so careful before. Ju
