Romance in the Church (Hiatus)Jongup circled around to claim the seat across from Youngjae, after handing him a cool can of water. The been-seated found it funny as he has only ever seen them in foreign; pirate films. Sneakily, he examined the other keenly but his dashing eyes could not fool the mechanic genius Moon Jongup. The other took a sip of his own drink before breaking the ice with a refreshing smile, “I told you it’s really me. Why? Still having trouble believing it’s me?”
Conflicted, Youngjae weighs the pros and cons of Jongup being there with him. Jongup and Junhong have always shared a brotherhood-like relationship though Jongup and Yongguk have been acquaintances for like ever. “No…. It’s just—” Youngjae trailed off as he gestured toward the outdoors. He wasn’t sure where to embark but was suffering in hope that Jongup could read his mind and fill him in without queries.
Their six years together weren’t a loss when Jongup opened up the discussion, “Believe me when I say I was just as shocked as you are now when Rosemary’s members mentioned you to me. They described you perfectly just as I’ve remembered,”
Youngjae shook his head in disbelief, “You’re shocked to learn about me, yet you seem normal seeing me here. In 1930?”
Jongup mustered up the energy to stay positive and smile when he sensed the contrasts of their tones; which did more than reveal how different they feel in the moment, “Hm,” his Adam's apple throbbed down then up again before he proceeded, “it’s not my first time here. But I have a feeling it’s different for you,”
Youngjae snorted, “No, it’s the same. It’s my second time here but only after I was kicked out a few days ago,” he inhaled heavily, “how are we time-traveling Jongup? Things like this only happens in fiction,”
As Youngjae vent, Jongup slurped once more before answering, “I’m not sure. A while ago I found out the reasons are different for everyone,”
“Everyone? Is there someone else here I should know about?” Youngjae had his hopes up. What if Junhong and Daehyun made it? What if they could also come to the past? He was getting butterflies for a moment only to be shot down by a chuckle.
“No, there’s no one like that,” Jongup said, “but I had the pleasure of meeting someone from this time period who has been to our time a few times. Her visits and purpose seems to differ from mine,”
Youngjae frowned, “And where is this person?”
Jongup only smiled as he naturally switched the subject, “Anyway, then since you’ve been back and forth. How is the modern world?” his smile seemed to be clinging onto empty hope until Youngjae wiped it off his face. And he did little to hold it back too.
“Don’t be alarm, but Yongguk set it up to clean us out. The rumor mission. He planned it all. Right as they showed up to where Junhong and I were staying, I was teleported. I can’t say for sure whether Junhong is safe or not, but Daehyun was there. He showed up suddenly and had my back,” before Youngjae could go on, Jongup showed him his palm in order to stop him. Politely.
“You said Yongguk set it up? How?”
The storyteller flattened his eyes, “I heard they refer to their boss as ‘Boss Bang’. I’ve also put a lot of things together and they all pointed to Yongguk. I,” Youngjae swallowed the growing lump in his throat, “I believe he’s also responsible for Himchan’s death,”
“Death? Himchan is...dead?”
Youngjae tossed his can of water as he leaned closer to his only listener, “Authorities there ruled it as suicide rather than homicide. But knowing Himchan, he’s not someone to self-terminate. Something must have gone wrong. The location where his body was found is out of place too. Himchan was sniping, he had no reason to get so close to Wolf Hound’s entrance to the point of getting shot,”
“And you think Yongguk is behind all of this?”
“Believe,” Youngjae corrected him, “Himchan saw Yongguk as an older brother and friend. It makes my blood boil every time I think about it. Bang Yongguk, when I find him I’m going to kill him with my own hands,” Youngjae made two hard fists; his knuckles turned white and his nails dug the flesh of his palms.
Surprisingly he only loosens them when Jongup blurted, “What if I
