Chapter 40
Damned Angel“So that’s my story”, Daniel said, as tears rolled down my cheeks, onto his shirt. Daniel put his arms around me and placed a kiss on my head. “I’m sorry”, I said, "I don't know how you could go through all of that and still be... you... I can't even imagine what it’s like to experience that kind of loss". "But you lost your parents", he said. "Yeah but that was different; I didn't have to stand there and watch them get killed", I said, "It was bad enough that you had to witness your brothers’ deaths, but three years of solitude for doing absolutely nothing is deplorable. How did you even survive that?", I asked.
"I didn't", Daniel said, "Everyday that I was in there, a part of me died, until there was none of me left. He had started by killing his own Nephilim, but he didn’t stop there. He had convinced his entire coven to kill their Nephilim as well. Back then, there was no Sword of Horiel; so there was no way of knowing if an angel could be trusted or not. Ciel had gone through all the trials to become a guardian angel, with the sole purpose of killing Nephilim. He was intent on wiping the slate clean. He never understood why angels had to give up their lives just to protect the mistakes of the ones who came before them”, Daniel explained.
“So all of this just because one angel had felt that everyone was below him", I said. “Soon, Ciel gathered a huge following behind him, enlisting all the fallen angels who had
