Whenever Hikaru didn’t have a shift at the lounge, he liked to have closing shifts at Safeway instead of opening, whenever he could; he would never miss an opportunity to sleep in. The very next time he had a day off from the lounge he closed at Safeway, working peacefully to change ads and stock shelves for the morning, even though he would be there to stock them again when the store opened. AIASF’s Safeway closed every night at midnight, and opened every morning at seven, and Hikaru was working a turnaround. Instead of leaving campus and returning in the morning, Hinata suggested that he spend the night in his dorm, and Hikaru was entirely too tired to turn him down. He finished with his shift and dragged his body on the ten-minute walk up to the general area of the Houses, continuing until he found the First House. From there he had a more acute memory of where he was going; he traveled up to the third floor of the House, glancing briefly in the doors that were still open until he reached his brother’s. He didn’t bother knocking and opted to simply walk in, pausing briefly to kick off his shoes before continuing onward down the short hallway. “That’s the plan,” Hikaru responded, simultaneously dropping his body onto the bed. “We’ve shared a bed before.”
“That’s true…” His attention turned back to his television and Hikaru closed his eyes, not bothering to set an alarm on his phone; he already knew that Hinata would set one for him. He felt his muscles begin to relax one by one and he exhaled slowly, eager to fall asleep.
“Hina-chan!”
Hikaru’s eyes opened abruptly at the sudden incoming voice, one he already knew very well. So much for sleep.
“Hina-chan, I’m bored.”
“Shh!” Hinata responded sharply; Hikaru could imagine him pointing towards the bedroom silently, and he began to count down in his head. Five…four…three…two…one-
“Hika-chan!” Hikaru set his jaw as Shuya threw his body onto the bed, jostling him. “Hika-chan, I’m bored.”
“Then why don’t you sleep?” Hikaru responded through clenched teeth.
“I can’t sleep,” Shuya responded, rolling over onto his back and placing his hands behind his head. “You only worked one job today; talk to me.”
“Hinata…”
“Leave him alone, Shu; he has to work in the morning,” Hinata called out; Shuya kissed his teeth but relented, ro
