MMM
It Became Toxic
Jennie smiles and takes a sip of her coffee. She takes a glance at the blonde in front of her, who is now grinning because of whatever she watches on her phone. "What's that?" Jennie finally asks, after a minute or two their surrounding is filled with silence since they are the only people inside the café.
"Uhm, a video?" Lisa says, with an 'isn't-it-obvious' look on her face.
"Yeah, I know.. but what video? Can I watch, too?" you can hear a bit of disappointment from Jennie's voice.
"Oh my god, you really should! Here, it's a video of Rosé playing her guitar. She's sooo good, she sounds so lovely." Lisa hands Jennie her phone and Jennie starts watching.
She knows Rosé but never really had the chance to meet her. Lisa has been talking about her and Jennie thinks she's a nice person, as for what she heard from Lisa's stories. Jennie skips a lot of parts.
She doesn't wanna hear any of it.
But she fakes a smile, "Your friend is good." Jennie says, she finally starts eating her cake that was untouched since it was served a few minutes ago.
"I know, right?! That's why I've been begging her to teach me. But she never does because she always say that she's busy." Jennie is still faking a smile not wanting to disappoint Lisa.
They went silent for a minute again. But something caught Lisa's eyes. "Wait, is that a box?" Lisa says pointing to Jennie's half-opened bag beside her, where she sees a wrapped box tied with a purple ribbon, but she's not sure.
Jennie checks her bag to see what Lisa is pointing and gasps, "Oh! This is a gift for someone, someone I really hate."
"You're going to give a present to a person you hate? I thought you're not that kind of girl, Jen."
"I feel really forced. There's this girl named Jisoo, my Dad introduced her to me. She's the daughter of one of the most succesful businessman in the business industry, and her Dad is unfortunately friends with Daddy. It was the first time we met but she acted like we're really close. She even gave me a hug instead of a handshake! That girl.. she's so.." Jennie stops when she realized she's already loud and the people she didn't notice that came, starts looking at her.
"I bet that girl is like me, then." Lisa laughs but deep inside, she's feeling something, something which is in the first place, she shouldn't feel.
"No! Lisa, she's different. You're still a bit better, I think." Jennie jokes as she chuckles, holding her mug.
"Really, Jennie," Lisa joins Jennie and they are both laughing, not minding what will the people around think of them. It's like they're inside their own little bubble, but they know, that bubble is already long gone and impossible to appear again.
Jennie feels happy, she's smiling.
But there is pain too.
Aside from the enthusiasm she hears from Lisa's voice when she talks about Rosé, there is something Lisa doesn't know that also hurts Jennie.
Jennie can play the guitar, too.
"I love you." Lisa whispers.
They are inside the car.
"And I'm sure you know that I love you, too."
"But it's not enough."
"So we just need to let go, right?"
"Right." Lisa nods.
