The Kindness and The Evil

Excuse Me?

The class was over. Jungkook was waiting for Taehyung who had cleaning duty by watching the soccer club practice. Today they were going to had an extra tutoring session with Chaeyoung to prepare for their quiz tomorrow. He actually didn’t want to join but Taehyung kept pestering him so he gave in and agreed to tag along.

A beep sound was heard and Jungkook took a glimpse at his phone which he put next to him. He flipped his phone down after he read the name on the pop-up window chat. That action made Mingyu who quietly stood behind him scoffed. Jungkook heard it and he turned his head looking at Mingyu with an annoyed face. Mingyu laughed while took a seat next to him.

“Hey buddy, want to get some advice?” Mingyu offered his help to Jungkook.

Jungkook looked at Mingyu suspiciously but decided to take his offer because he knew Mingyu was more experienced than him in the field of dealing with a girl. Jungkook told Mingyu who the girl and what his problem was. So, there was a girl named Bona in his cram school. On his first day of class, she sat next to him and asked for his number to invite him on the class group chat. At first, she was sending him a message regarding the information of additional class or something related to the lesson. Later, the girl gradually broadening the topic and increased the intensity of their chat. It made Jungkook uncomfortable as he got a feeling this girl might have a crush on him although he wasn’t that sure.

“It’s easy. You just need to be seen together with a girl who can make the other girls had no guts to compete against her. You don’t have to lie by being her boyfriend, just to be seen together can make them think your standard is really high,” Mingyu thought it was the best solution for him. He knew Jungkook promised Nayeon he won’t be rude and harsh when rejecting girls’ feelings anymore. Nayeon also asked Mingyu personally to help Jungkook overcome that bad habit.

“Hahaha… It’s impossible. Where the hell I can find a girl like that? I am not you who have lots of female friends,” Jungkook thought that idea was ridiculous.

“Yeah, I know you only have three female friends. Nayeon, Chaeyoung, and Chaeyoung. Nayeon is out of option, Son Chaeyoung also out since she is not around. So, there is only one left. Park Chaeyoung. She goes to the cram school near yours, she is pretty, smart, outstanding, and insanely popular these days too. She is the perfect candidate for it. Just set an appointment with her once, then your problem will be solved,” Mingyu gave his thumb up, moved his eyebrows up and down, and showed a sales smile.

“Park Chaeyoung? No, thanks. I don’t want to get involved with her relationship. Dealing with her boyfriend will be a headache,” Jungkook strongly refused that idea.

Mingyu laughed at Jungkook’s ridiculous reason. As far as he knew, she didn’t have a boyfriend. He then asked how Jungkook could get the idea. Jungkook told him it’s because he heard she talked to someone she saved on her contact as “My Love” on the phone. The way she talked was so fondly to him that’s why he was sure it was her boyfriend.

“I don’t know how close your relationship with her, but I’m sure she also had a secret she hides from you. Just like Kyeomi and Yeoni who secretly dating, who knows she also already had a boyfriend and didn’t tell us. Maybe her boyfriend is an idol, actor or perhaps she is dating one of us, who knows, right? That’s why she hides it from us,” said Jungkook while shrugging.

What Jungkook said was make sense. But still, Mingyu didn’t easily fall for that. He still believed Jungkook might be wrong. Chaeyoung was a lovely girl and likes to save her contacts with nicknames. That “My Love” might be one of her closest friends.

Right after their conversation ends, Taehyung showed up and called for Jungkook. He told him to hurry because Chaeyoung might be waiting. Jungkook stood up and dusted his pants, he then said goodbye to Mingyu, but before he left, Mingyu called him.

“About my advice, you can just tell her in advance. She is so caring and understanding. So, if what you said about her boyfriend is true, I’m sure he will understand it too,” Mingyu gave him another option.

“Right. I will consider it. Thanks, bro. I am heading first,” said Jungkook and quickly run over to catch Taehyung who already left first.

“Perfect!” Chaeyoung was complimenting Taehyung while handing the practice sheet. Taehyung received it with his brightest smile.

“So, I can get the perfect score again, can’t I?” Taehyun excitedly asking Chaeyoung. She couldn’t help but smile whenever she saw Taehyung being cute and adorable with those sparkling big eyes and heart-shaped smile.

“I can’t guarantee it. But you have a 95% chance to get the perfect score,” said Chaeyoung. She knew compliment could boost Taehyung’s confidence. That’s why she loved showering him with it.

“As expected, our Chaengie is the best teacher. Thank you very much. I am being the luckiest man to get a tutor like you,” Taehyung cupped his face with both his hands, blink his eyes fast, and made a cute expression while looking straight at Chaeyoung. Taehyung’s cute acts never failed to make Chaeyoung laugh but this time she held it because she could feel a murderer aura emitted from Jungkook. That’s why she only responded with an awkward smile.

As a reward for finally get all the questions right, Taehyung could get home first. Moreover, Chaeyoung was out of the practice sheet for him. It would be better for Taehyung to take enough rest and review it at home. Chaeyoung looked at the clock and it was 30 minutes faster than their original plan.

Taehyung humming happily while started to packed his belonging and the other side, Jungkook finally finished answering the question and handed it to Chaeyoung. Chaeyoung quickly took a look at it while Jungkook was following Taehyung to packed his belonging.

A lot of red marks were written on Jungkook’s answer sheet when Chaeyoung returned it. Taehyung who saw it suddenly felt anxious and took a glimpse of Chaeyoung’s face. Unlike Taehyung, those red marks didn’t bother Jungkook at all. He folded the paper then put it in his jacket’s pocket.

“Aren’t you going home too?” Taehyung carefully asked Chaeyoung when tried to read the situation. Usually, even when Jungkook still hasn’t got the question right, they will end their session as long as Taehyung already finished. But this time, he doubted she will kindly let him pass.

“Jungkook still got so many questions wrong. I promise you earlier that I would make Jungkook at least get the minimum score. It could be achieved only if he got at least 80% of the answer right on this practice test,” Chaeyoung said it boldly that made Taehyung and Jungkook was looking at each other and slowly put their bag down. Taehyung silently opened his bag’s zipper and took out his book again.

“Why you take your book out again? Hahaha… It’s okay. You can go home,” said Chaeyoung while laughing at Taehyung.

“Well, but is it okay if you go home with him? I mean… Isn’t it better if…,” Taehyung was gulping when she cut his sentence off.

“No, it’s okay. Don’t worry about me and Jungkook,” she was ensuring him while smiling.

It’s weird. That smile of her made Taehyung shivering in fear. She said it with such a bright tone but somehow it sounds intimidating. Taehyung had no choice. He looked at Jungkook with an apologetic expression. With an anxious and uneasy feeling, Taehyung said goodbye and walked outside the café.

After Taehyung left, Jungkook didn’t continue to work on the practice sheet instead, he was busy playing with his phone. He could sense Chaeyoung was staring at him that made him put his phone down and looked at Chaeyoung with a challenging expression.

“Let’s wait for another ten minutes and conclude it,” said Jungkook shortly then continued playing with his phone.

“Well, why not trying to solve that questions in that 10 minutes? You can get at least 2 questions,” Chaeyoung tried to negotiate.

“Why should I? It’s your promise with Taehyung, not with me. Don’t worry, If I failed the test, I won’t blame you. I will tell Taehyung you tried to teach me well but it’s me who don’t do my best,” Jungkook clearly stated he didn’t want to play this tutoring game anymore. He purposely said it to show he only come because of Taehyung.

Hearing that made Chaeyoung took a deep long sigh. Jungkook looked at her out of annoyance because he could feel that deep sigh was made to mock him.

The patience level that he was holding since earlier finally reached its limit. Had to sit at the same table with those two for one and half hours really test his patience. Not only because he felt like a third wheel, but because he was angry at her. She already had a boyfriend but the way she acted around Taehyung was way too flirty. Sharing foods, drink each other beverage using the same straw, excessive compliment on every little thing he does, smiling at him, sitting too close with him, not to mention that cheesy nickname they give each other. Jungkook worried, if it’s continued, Taehyung would have a feeling for her. He knew it’s Taehyung's right to falling in love but he didn’t want his best friend to get hurt. It’s okay as long as she was still single, but it’s a different story if she has already taken. He didn’t want her to play with Taehyung’s heart.

“Tell me honestly, why you promise Taehyung about such a thing? Why you should go this far?” asked Jungkook to confront her.

“Because I like him,” said Chaeyoung without any doubt.

Her answer made Jungkook speechless.

“Taehyungie, Mingyu, Dokyeomie, and also Jaehyunie. I like them all. I might know them for a short period, but I can’t help but fall in love with them.

“Mingyu risk his friendship with me when he tried to recruit me. He already knew about what happened between us and know very well it can hurt me if I meet you, yet he still asked me to tutor you. Taehyungie who prefer to studying alone in his room because it’s hard for him to concentrate in the public place asked me to give extra tutoring lesson so that he can studying with you and get a good grade together. Dokyeomie who sacrificed his precious weekend to study instead of dating, and Jaehyunie who help me with giving out the material that might be useful.

“I know it’s rude for me to make such a promise without your consent. I just can’t help but do it. Seeing how hard they work to make this study group successful make me wanted to do my best too. I am so excited that made me say that promise. Sorry,” Chaeyoung ended her long speech with an apology.

Hearing that behind the story was a bit shocking for Jungkook. When this group was planned, he already thought it was a bit strange since his friends did quite well academically. Never in his mind, he thought the real reason it was established was him. To help him get a better grade. All this time, he thought they just wanted to increase their grade.

Now as he finally knew about the truth, he felt ashamed because she, who only know them for less than two months know his so-called best friends better than him. Not only that, but he also felt so guilty. They sacrificed so much for his sake, yet he never did his best and just wasting their effort. Just because he had a personal problem with Chaeyoung, he put on blind eye on his friends’ hard work. He thought he did his best by tagging along with them on this study group that he hates, but actually, it was the opposite!

“Jungkook, I am sorry for leaving first. I am truly sorry. Please forgive me TT TT” a message from Taehyung come at the right time. It made Jungkook even more guilty.

Shyly Jungkook took out the practice sheet from his pocket, unfolded it, and started to work on it. Chaeyoung who saw it didn’t say anything and didn’t show any reaction. She knew it would hurt his pride if she did something. It’s better that way. Pretending not to know and just keep it going.

Thirty minutes had passed but Jungkook was still stuck on one question. He didn’t know how to solve it but was too embarrassed to ask her for help. That’s why he took out his book and started to read the material, hoping he would understand the step and can answer that question.

“Jungkookie?” asked a male voice and it made Jungkook moved his eyes away from the book.

Jungkook was a bit surprised when he saw Donghyuk, the captain of Jungkook's football team rival. They then had a short chit-chat. Donghyuk said he had an appointment with his friends but he arrived early. Jungkook then asked him to join his table until his friends come.

“Well, I’d love it but, I'm not interrupting, right?” quickly read the situation, Donghyuk apologized as he realized Chaeyoung presence and felt bad because it seems like he disrupted their date.

Chaeyoung quickly denied it and welcomed him to join. Donghyuk smiled, politely excuse himself then sat next to Jungkook. Chaeyoung called the waitress and asked Donghyuk what he wanted to order. She even recommended him some dessert. While waiting for his order, he introduced himself, and unexpectedly Chaeyoung said she knew him. She saw their match last year and also told him Haechan was her friend.

“Anyway, do you perhaps cut your hair?” asked Donghyuk after the introduction session.

His question made both Jungkook and Chaeyoung a bit surprised. Realized his question was surprising, Donghyuk immediately explained that his friend was talking about a girl called Chaeyoung that went to the same cram school but a different program. He said he saw her once but at that time she had long hair. So, he asked her to clarify whether she was the same Chaeyoung.

“Ah, so you are that Chaeyoung. Well, you look good in your new hair,” there was a disappointment in his voice after Chaeyoung confirmed she indeed cut her hair.

Their conversation then continued with Donghyuk talked about his rank on the mock test and how scary the student these days. He said yesterday two girls caused a ruckus in his cram school just because of a notebook. She accused her friend of stealing her book. Donghyuk was curious why a single notebook can make them arguing like that, but after he took a look at the book it's understandable because it was so neat and informative. He said if he had it, his rank might increase. Sadly, it was so expensive.

“Do you want to copy my book? It's might not as good as that book but, it can help you,” she offered.

“Are you serious?” Donghyuk couldn’t believe what he just heard. Most people didn’t want to lend it. It's understandable because they invested their time in making it. Chaeyoung was incredible for lending it for free. He was curious and asked her why she did that. It can cause other people to get a good grade too and it can make the competition fiercer.

Chaeyoung said she used to get upset and annoyed when people copying her book too. But there was an accident that changes her mind. One day when she got mad and upset because her book was being copied freely by a whole class, she went window shopping to distract her mind. Instead of getting better, her mood got even worse as she was welcomed by the famous Albert Einstein picture where he sticks his tongue out hanged on the wall of the first shop she entered. It feels like the whole world was working together to mock her.

“I got so mad so I stood in front of that picture and staring at him for few minutes. Strangely, the longer I stared at him, the better my feeling was. As I stood there I realized, that great people like Einstein didn’t mind sharing their discoveries with the world. If he was being stingy, the world won’t get like what it was now. Since that day, I realized knowledge was supposed to be shared.

“It’s so random and embarrassing but it’s truly happened. Since that day, whenever I see someone learn from my book, I get so happy because I can share my little knowledge with them. And somehow, when they get a good grade, I feel so happy too. It feels like I am part of their successful history. Ah, and about rivals, I think it’s good to have lots of them. It can lift your spirit and trigger you to do better and work harder,”

Jungkook and Donghyuk looked at each other in disbelief. This girl was really unique. They didn't know whether she just trying to make herself look good or she was really sincere. But the fact she voluntarily lending her notebook proofed that she was truly kind and sincere.

The bell on the door was ringing and a bunch of high school boys entered the café. Donghyuk smiled and waved at them. Seeing his friends have arrived, he excused himself to join his friends.

Now, it’s only Chaeyoung and Jungkook again on that table. Jungkook looked at the clock, then to his textbook. No matter how many times he read the book, he still couldn’t understand. It’s already 7 PM and the night was getting darker and chiller. Damn with the pride, finishing this session was five hundred times more important.

“Have you finished?” Chaeyoung asked.

Jungkook shook his head.

“I don’t understand this part,” said Jungkook while pointing at the question.

Chaeyoung looked at the part, thought for a second, then asked him whether she could sit next to him. Jungkook had no idea why she suddenly asked that question but then realized it must be because it’s easier for her to teach him if she moved her seat. Jungkook nodded and she quickly took her pen and paper then sat next to Jungkook.

“Geez, they said I am not interrupting. Look at them now, as soon as I am gone, they stick together like a KitKat,” Donghyuk was giggling when he saw how lovey-dovey Jungkook and Chaeyoung were.

“Isn’t that Jungkook? The MVP? Well, he got pretty girlfriend,” said Donghyuk’s friend who sat next to him.

“Wait, that girl, isn’t that Chaeyoung? Your crush?” the other friend recognized Chaeyoung’s face and poked another friend with his elbow, signaling him to looked at the girl.

That friend turned his head and suddenly looked so sad when he confirmed that the girl was indeed his crush. Looking at their friend, each one of them was patting his shoulder, tried to cheer him up.

“I am sorry but I already had a plan,” Jungkook straightforwardly refuse the invitation from Bona to eat dinner together.

“Ah, It’s a pity. But, it’s okay, let’s go another time!” she looked sad but she tried so hard to not showing it.

Glad for both of them, the teacher came and they returned to their own seat. Jungkook stared at his chat window with “Jimin’s sister” displayed on the top of it waiting for the delivered sign changed to read. The teacher began the class but it still hasn’t changed. Jungkook took a deep sigh then closed it then put his phone in his pocket.

The two hours lesson had finished. Jungkook checked on the chat window again, but the sign hasn’t changed yet. Now, he had to make a choice, come to Chaeyoung’s cram school building, or eat his dinner alone. The latter choice was risky as he could bump into Bona and she could think he was lying to her. Jungkook tapped his fingers on the table while thinking about what should he choose. The decision was quickly made as he saw Bona was about to get close to him. Before another “hard to escape” situation came, he quickly stood up and rushed out of the class.

There was no answer. It’s the fifth call he made but Chaeyoung hasn’t picked it up yet. It’s been fifteen minutes since he waited in front of her cram school building and it made him anxious. He kept checking on his message but the sign still the same.

“Jungkook! What are you doing here?” Jungkook turned his head as he recognized that girl voice who asked him.

“Oh, I’m waiting for someone,” he answered shortly.

“Me too. I am waiting for my friend. What’s your friend’s name?” asked Bona curiously.

“Chaeyoungie,” Jungkook replied shortly and silently praying so that Chaeyoung could come out quickly or at least read his text.

“Woooo a girl? Who? Your girlfriend?” she kept asking a question and it started to make Jungkook felt uncomfortable. Not only because he felt bad for rejecting her offer, but also because he was afraid, she would create a rumor.

Jungkook suddenly remembered what Mingyu said to him, if he wanted to avoid Bona, he only needed to be seen together with another girl. He didn’t want to follow that advice at first, but in the end, he was forced by the situation to do it. After he rejected Bona’s invitation, he quickly texted Chaeyoung to meet up. He said he wanted to return the money he borrowed to buy a bus ticket days ago.

“Sorry to keep you waiting, I need to write lots of notes, so, shall we go?” just like an oasis in the desert, Jungkook felt really happy when he saw Chaeyoung suddenly appeared before he answered Bona’s question.

Jungkook apologized to Bona for leaving first. Bona nodded and waved at him with a disappointed face.

“Where will we going?” asked Jungkook once they were walking quite far from the cram school.

Chaeyoung stopped walking and confusedly stared at Jungkook. It’s surprising to hear Jungkook invited her out for dinner.

“Let’s go somewhere quiet. It’s a bit uncomfortable to return your money here,” said Jungkook without realizing Chaeyoung was still in confusion.

“Money?” she reflectively asked him out loud since she was really clueless.

Jungkook looked at her with a wondering face.

“Ah, that money, yeah, sure, sure. Hmm… Well, I think we should go to the bakery. The break time almost over so it will be better to eat ready to eat food,” she still clueless but pretending to know. She remembered her phone was dead so she hasn’t checked anything.

Jungkook once again looked at her with a suspicious glare. She sounded strange. He then saw the window chat and saw she hasn’t read his message. But, why on earth she acted as if she already knew he was waiting for him?

“Sorry, my phone is dead so I haven’t read your text,” Chaeyoung finally decided to admit her sin. She felt bad as she realized Jungkook might be waiting for her for too long.

“But, how could you know I was waiting for you?” Jungkook was curious.

“Ah, it’s just… I thought she made you felt uncomfortable so I just said it. I am sorry. It’s just… I am so used to help Seokjin Oppa and some of my male friends to run away from that situation, so… Let’s say I did it instinctively. Sorry if I crossed the boundary again,” Chaeyoung apologized again.

“I see…,” Jungkook gave a short response. He was too cocky to thank her. Actually, what she just did really helped him a lot. But he didn’t want to admit it.

***

It's ten minutes before the class was over. Jungkook's felt his brain was already reached the saturated point which means he couldn't absorb any more information. Through the back door, he sneaked out of the class and went to the bathroom. The bathroom was located on the opposite wings so that he had to walk past through the lobby. When he arrived at the lobby, his eyes caught the sofa and he remembered about the book he “intentionally” kicked so it went down deeper under the sofa. Somehow, he felt guilty about the girl who lost the book. That time he got mad because of her rude comment. But now, as he already knew the original owner didn’t mind her book being copied, he wanted to return the book back to that girl.

He walked closer to the vending machine near the sofa, bought a coffee can, then intentionally dropped the can so it was rolling and went under the sofa. He lay down, trying to take his coffee can but at the same time took the book which unexpectedly still in there.

“Hey, isn't that mine?” asked the girl who just come out from the corridor where the toilet was located. She might just return from the toilet and unexpectedly saw Jungkook who was standing in the lobby and holding her book.

Jungkook looked behind him but no one was there so it means the girl was pointing at him. A few seconds later he realized that girl must be the owner of the book. He walked towards her and handed her the book. The girl took it harshly from his hand that made his hand was scratched by the edge of the book’s cover.

The girl quickly checked the book whether it was really hers or not. While she checked it, Jungkook left her to went back to his class while looking at his bleeding palm.

“HEY! WAIT!” the girl called him again before Jungkook went too far.

“Are you just walking by like that? Won't you at least apologize after you got caught right-handedly stealing my notebook?” the girl was so angry when she found out it was really her notebook that she lost.

“What? Stealing? Excuse me I think you misunderstand something. I found that book under the sofa and about to hand it to the receptionist. But, before I did it, you saw it first,” Jungkook tried so hard to suppress his anger as he realized there was still a class in session.

“I thought it was ridiculous when I heard about a notebook stealing accident but turns out it is true. I am sorry, but I really can’t let this thing pass,” the girl took out her phone and without warning, she took Jungkook's picture and started to record video too.

“What are you doing?” seeing his face suddenly taken like that made Jungkook raised his voice. He then tried to snatched the phone from that girl’s hand. Sadly, he failed and the phone was thrown onto the ground. Their eyes were fixated on the phone and once it stopped sliding, they hurriedly walked towards it racing to get it first. Sadly, none of them winning that race as someone else picked it first.

Their eyes now focused on the one who picked it. Jungkook’s eyes got widened as he saw Chaeyoung was standing in front of him holding the phone. He wondered, what was she doing here, and whether she witnessed that incident. Chaeyoung held it for a while before handed it back to the girl and said to be careful with her belonging. The girl thanked her then showed a smirk to Jungkook as if she declared her win.

“Hey! Why did you erase it???!!!” the girl glared at Chaeyoung with such angry eyes after she checked the picture and video of Jungkook’s face was missing.

Chaeyoung smiled at her and said she tried to protect her. Spreading false rumors was a crime. She can be sued for defamation. It’s not good if it’s written on her report card. It could hinder her to enter the university.

“Why I am the one who will get sued? He is the one who steals my book!” the girl felt she was just being wronged.

“Because he doesn’t steal it. He said he found it under the sofa, you can check whether there was still a speck of dust on your book,” Chaeyoung pointed at the book and it made the girl quietly rub the top of the book with her finger. The girl was surprised as she could felt dust on her finger. It made her felt ashamed but still refuse to admit it.

“Moreover, he would never do that,” this time, Chaeyoung walked closer to Jungkook and handed him her notebook.

The girl looked at the book Chaeyoung gave to Jungkook and it made her shaking in fear. The cover was the same. In the first look, everyone could tell it was the original one. This means she was the one who made that book.

Seeing how the girl got cornered, made Jungkook felt a bit guilty. He could understand her feeling. She had the right to get angry although it’s wrong to accuse someone. Well, he somehow deserved it as he was also at fault for making her couldn’t find it.

“Now, that’s clear. I don’t steal it, and the pictures were already erased. So, we are done. Okay?” said Jungkook trying to end this problem as soon as possible. The class almost over and he didn’t want to cause a scene and become a show for the other student.

The girl didn’t give any response, she was too embarrassed to admit it so she tried to run away. But, before she left, Chaeyoung stopped her by grabbing her arm.

“If you need my notebook, rather than buying it at an unreasonable charge, you can just ask me to lend it to you. It’s free,” said Chaeyoung and it made the girl’s face got so red out of shame.

Chaeyoung was loosening her grip and it made the girl about to walk away but she tightening it again. The girl stopped and looked at her again. This time she looked a bit scared as she could felt a threat through her grip.

“It’s free but, there are two conditions. First, apologize to him for accusing him and hurt his hand. Second, thank him for finding your book,” after she said it, she released her grip off of her arm for real.

The bell rang and the girl took this chance to quickly run away. Just like that girl, Jungkook also needs to go back to his class.

“Why are you here?” Jungkook asked her.

“I want to inform you that you don’t have to walk me home today. I want to eat dinner before going home,” she answered.

“You, wait here. I'll go get my bag real quick,” said Jungkook and quickly left to his classroom.

***

“One set A please,” said Chaeyoung to the waitress while handing the menu book back to her.

“I’m ordering the same set,” said Jungkook and followed what Chaeyoung was doing.

The waitress repeating their order to confirm it once again, and after they nodded, she left them and heading to the kitchen counter, told the chef what they should cook for the customer.

Just like Chaeyoung, Jungkook’s stomach also started to growling because he hasn’t eaten proper dinner. Chaeyoung suggested going to this newly opened Japanese restaurant. She said she had a coupon that they give away during their opening day. Jungkook didn’t mind and agreed with her choice.

This restaurant was quiet. There weren’t so many customers in this restaurant because the peak dinner time had passed. Just like another Japanese restaurant, there was a wood partition between the table that seems like to give more privacy to the customer. However, they still chose the table on the corner, near the kitchen counter. Somehow, it’s already become their habit to “hide” from people although it won’t cause them any harm if they were seen.

The restaurant door was opened and the waitress automatically greeted them. Jungkook who just got back from washing his hands saw a group of boys wearing the same uniform as Donghyuk was entered and sat on the two tables in front of them. Once he was back, their order was already served. Chaeyoung already ate first and Jungkook also stuffed the ramen he ordered in his mouth as soon as he sat down.

Just like usual, there wasn’t any conversation when they were together. They just sat there and enjoyed their food. It might be weird for people who watch them, but this silence was comfortable for both of them. Since they weren’t talking about anything and the restaurant was quiet, the conversation from the table of the boys could be heard. And just like usual, Jungkook who recently adjusting to eating alone couldn’t help but overhear their conversation as part of his new hobby.

“So, the girl you like is having a boyfriend?”

“Well, it’s not surprising. She is hella gorgeous. There is no way she doesn’t have a boyfriend. I bet her boyfriend might be someone you can’t beat,”

“Yeah, you are right. There is no way someone like me has a chance to have a girlfriend like her,”

“Hey, what’s wrong with you? You are good-looking too! Moreover, you got a y brain. I saw her boyfriend’s grade and it’s nothing compared to you!”

“Anyway, who is her boyfriend? Do I know him? Someone from our school?”

“It’s Jeon Jungkook. You know, the captain of our soccer team rival. The MVP of AFC U-19,”

“What? Hahaha… no wonder. If I was her, I will choose him! Sorry friend, but I think you really had no chance. He is handsome, hella cool too. My friend also said his body was crazy. If I can say, she got great taste. Popular, handsome, and have a bright future. He can be the next superstar in soccer! Who the hell care about grade if he can be rich with his talent!!”

“Hey, but I heard some gossip he doesn’t want to continue his career as an athlete,”

“What??!! Seriously?? Why?? It’s such a waste of his talent. So, if he doesn’t want to become an athlete, he just wants to become a regular student like us??,”

“The gossip said so. I don’t understand his way of thinking. He is blessed with talent but why he choose a difficult path?”

“I agree. His grade isn’t that good either. He was also involved in some kind of cases in school. There is no way he can catch up with the lesson when he wasn’t attending school for almost one semester. He indeed chose the wrong choice,”

“Brak!” a sound of glass slamming onto the table brings back Jungkook’s mind who was at that boys’ table.

“Excuse me, can we get more water, please?” Chaeyoung raised her hand and asked for a refill for their table’s tumbler. Jungkook instinctively saw the tumbler and it was empty. He was sure when they sat there, it was full. He then saw her face which gotten so red. Did she order spicy ramen? How can she drink all of that water? But, he was glad. At least his mind was distracted for a bit thanks to Chaeyoung’s sudden request.

To be frank, hearing all of those comments boiled Jungkook’s blood. He wanted to stand up and showed his face to those boys but he held it. The reason? It’s because what they were saying was all true. That’s why he didn’t have a right to get mad. It’s all fact. The rumor surrounding him. Although it’s true, he still felt hurt when he heard it.

After the waitress gave them a new tumbler, Chaeyoung immediately pour it on her glass and drank it as if she drank a soju. She drank it in one shot and aggressively put the glass down on the table. Jungkook was a bit surprised at the way she drinks it. Her tongue must be in a fire that causing her to drink like that. Quietly he took a look at her ramen bowl, but the soup was as white as milk, and it made him remembered they ordered the same menu and his ramen wasn’t spicy at all.

“Gosh, I feel bad for your crush. Handsome face and nice body, what’s the use of it if he can’t get into a reputable university. Even if he was once an outstanding athlete it’s no use unless he applied to a major related to sport,”

“Right! Just wait until you graduate high school and get accepted to Yonsei. If you still like her, you still have a chance, dude!”

“But, what if that girl still choosing him over you? I heard girls tend to choose face over the brain at this age. Truthfully speaking, in the physical appearance aspect, Jungkook is a lot more handsome than you!”

“Hey, what’s side are you on, huh? Geez… Listen, dude, if it really happens then, just find another girl. Don’t waste your time on a foolish girl like her. I heard she is pretty smart but if she still chooses him, then she is just the same as those girls who only chasing after the handsome guy. Like some kind my female friends who waste their money for those kpop idols,”

Jungkook couldn’t hold his anger anymore. It’s okay as long as they were talking bad about him, but he couldn’t accept it if they dragged another person into it. Moreover, the person whom they badmouthing was hearing all of those comments directly. Jungkook took a glance at Chaeyoung, curious about her reaction. Surprisingly, she didn’t look bothered and just eating her ramen peacefully. Looking at her unbothered reaction made him trying so hard to hold his anger and canceled his plan to confronting those boys. He was afraid if he did it, it will just worsen his reputation and indirectly affecting her image too.

It seems like God was on his side tonight. Those boys finally stopped gossiping about him and began a new topic that he didn’t interested in. Now, he only focused on eating his ramen as quickly as possible so that he can leave this place.

The plate and glass were already empty. But, Chaeyoung still sat down and playing with her phone. He didn’t know what she was waiting for but too afraid to talk. He was afraid once he speaks, those boys could recognize his voice. Moreover, he couldn’t leave first because he was the one who walks her home. So that, he should wait for her.

The sounds of the clerk saying thank you were heard. The boys finally left because from what he heard, they should go home quickly to prepare for the next day's quiz. Once they left, Chaeyoung stood up and it made Jungkook glad that they were finally going home.

They ride the bus home and as usual, they didn’t change a word. But, this time, Jungkook felt uncomfortable with her silence. Sometimes, Jungkook stole a glance at her through the reflection on the bus window or directly looking at her, there was nothing strange. Her expression was the same, only her face and ears which become so red. He wondered whether it was because of the cold air or because of what she heard in the restaurant before.

The bus already stopped at their destination. As usual, he only dropped her off at the bus stop as she requested. After that, she usually thanked him politely then walked her way home after putting on her earphone. But, today she was acting differently. After they dropped off, she just walked away without even thanking him. That act was ensuring Jungkook that she indeed angry and it made him felt bad. No matter what, it’s his fault to create this misunderstanding.

Jungkook was staring at Chaeyoung’s back and started to feel a dilemma. In the other direction, his bus was coming and it made him even more anxious. The bus stopped and the driver opened the door. Jungkook entered the bus and about to tap in but then he gets out. This restlessness was killing him. He was running towards the convenience store and turned left on the junction. He stopped suddenly as he didn’t saw her. No matter how fast she walks, she would still be around. Jungkook turned around and realized, there was one possible place, the convenience store.

Bingo! Before he took his first step, he saw Chaeyoung exited the store holding a water bottle. She stood in front of the door, opened the tube of the bottle, and drank whole water in one shot. That was quite a scene that made Jungkook gasp in awe. She then squeezed the bottle and throw it in the trash bin. With that action alone, he could tell she was transferring her anger to that bottle.

When she turned her back after throwing the bottle, she saw Jungkook who was standing not far from her. She walked closer to him and took off her left earphone. Jungkook just stands still and waited until she was standing in his talking range.

“I am sorry,” said Jungkook while looked away as he couldn't stand her eyes out of embarrassment once Chaeyoung was standing in front of him.

“What? Why?” she asked him again while took of the right earphone. She was afraid she heard him wrong.

“Sorry for what those boys said earlier at the restaurant,” he apologized when trying to be brave and staring at her eyes.

“Why are you the one who apologizes? You did nothing wrong,” Chaeyoung became more confused because he was apologizing on their behalf.

“I know but still it could piss you off,” said Jungkook with an apologetic face.

Chaeyoung was silent for a while as she was thinking. Why would Jungkook apologize when he was the one who got badmouthed? But then, she made a conclusion. Jungkook might felt bad because she heard an unpleasant thing about himself. His friends might hear something like this before and it made them mad.

“At first, I don’t understand why your friend so eager to help you get a higher grade. But now, I think I know their reason. When I heard it, I can’t help but get pissed off. They know nothing about you but bad-mouthing you. Only if they know you got a perfect score on the math exam, they won’t recklessly say something like that,” she told him honestly how she felt.

Jungkook was staring blankly at her as he heard the reason why she got mad. So, it’s not because of those boys badmouthing her. But, most importantly she seems to not have an idea the girl in that conversation was her! Which made him happy because he didn’t need to apologize. He wanted to smile but need to keep his cool so he tried his best to put on a straight face.

“People will always talk no matter what the truth is. Well, I’m used to hearing that kind of comment so it’s not affecting me that much,” Jungkook was too relieved so that he neglects what those boys said about him.

“There is no such a thing as the wrong choice in life, as long as it’s not against the law nor the norm. Unlike an exam where we should choose one right choice from five choices, in life, the same person with the same specification may have different results even though they choose the same choice. The result is always different for each people. That’s what life is. Unpredictable.

“So, don’t let people judge your choice. You can take them into consideration but don’t let them affect you. In the end, it’s you who determined the result of your choice. No matter what choice you chose, if you don’t try your best to live up to it, then it’s not going to work. But, there is some point when you know, it won’t work no matter how hard you try, then, it’s the time when you should choose another one,” she tried her best to share positivity with Jungkook. Although he said he used to it, she knew it still affects him. That’s why she wanted to cheer him up.

Jungkook once again stared blankly at her. He didn’t even react when she excused herself to leave first as she got a message from Jin asking her whereabouts. What she said slapped him hard. All this time, he kept blaming himself for shamelessly declaring to everyone who attends his Dad’s company family gathering event that he won’t be an athlete and wanted to attend university.

The family gathering event always became a nightmare for him. He didn’t want to attend because he always heard his Dad’s friends bragging about their children’s academic performance. He felt bad for his Dad as he didn’t have anything to be proud of. Until this year's event when he suddenly so eager to come. Now, he could stand tall because the event was held at the right moment when he became an MVP in AFC U-19. He was so proud as now he could become the son his dad could brag off.

The happiness didn’t last long. The sudden fame made Jungkook felt tired. He then hiding somewhere in the garden. From the place he was hiding, he saw a father come over to his son who sat not far from Jungkook. The father was looking for his son because he wanted to introduce him to his boss. The son refused because he felt embarrassed especially because Jungkook going to be there too. He got nothing to be proud of so he had no confidence. Jungkook chuckled as he could relate to the son. He was also in the same situation as him for the last few years.

“Son, you don't have to be jealous of him. We all have our strong points. I heard Jungkook isn't doing well at school. That's why he chooses to become an athlete. It's a wise choice as he knew his weakness. He is destined to use his body meanwhile you, destined to use your brain. Moreover, working in the field that requires your brain is ier and most importantly, it will long last,” said the Dad tried to cheer his son up.

The voice of the MC who called everyone to gathered cut that conversation. That father and son quickly left while Jungkook was still hiding until his mother called him. The main event was started with the speech of the branch manager then continued to the representative of the family. Usually, the one who was honored to give their speech was the family member who achieved something big that year. Jungkook who sat quietly suddenly shocked as his name got called. He awkwardly walked towards the stage.

The MC kept showering him with compliments then as the final question, he asked which team he wanted to join after graduated. He held the microphone and he stared at the faces of the audience. His eyes then fixed to the father and son who bad-mouthing him. Out of anger, he boldly declared to everyone he won't become an athlete. The audience who was quiet started to chattering. At that time, he said it without further thinking. He was just so pissed off and wanted to declare to anyone that he also can achieve the same thing as the other children. He didn’t want to take his talent at soccer for granted.

The news somehow spread quickly. The entire school suddenly knew about it and it made him a hot topic at school. Just like those boys, he often heard the students talking about his wrong choice. He didn’t care about it at first, but as he kept hearing it over and over again, his confidence started to waver. Besides, he just realized he was away for too long that he didn’t understand a single thing that his teachers said.

Regret comes later. That’s what he felt lately. But now, the cause of his regret was different. It’s no longer about he chose the wrong choice, now it’s about what he had done to make it right. He basically not doing anything but regretting and blame himself. Even his friends were working so hard for his sake, yet he wasted it all. What she said was right, it’s him who can determine the result.

Jungkook turned around and in no time he was running towards her. He called her out but she didn’t listen as she was wearing an earphone. Jungkook grabbed her arm and it made her startled.

“You promised me before, right? That you will help me with my study. Can you keep your promise?” said Jungkook while still panting and managed his breath.

Chaeyoung stared at Jungkook in disbelief but then a smile slowly bloomed on her lips.

“Of course! I am a girl with the word. I remember I said it on that slide on rainy days,” she pointed at the slide on the playground. She couldn’t stop smiling as she realized what she heard was real. She didn’t expect the time when Jungkook finally grow his willingness to go into this studying war had come.

Jungkook was smiling when he heard it. It’s such a relief because she didn’t ask him anything about why he changed his mind. He hates to admit it, but he loved that part of her. She always respects his decision and never questioned it.

“But… I have two conditions,” she said with an apologetic face.

“What’s that?” he nervously asked.

“First, don’t run away. Once you decided you will do it, you should do it until the end. Can you promise me that?” she revealed the first condition.

Jungkook nodded then asked her about the second one.

“You should get permission from your girlfriend. It might sound childish, but I don’t want to create a misunderstanding with her,”

Hearing it made Jungkook almost burst into a laugh.

“It’s okay I don’t have any,” Jungkook remembered he originally wanted to apologize about this matter but somehow it turned out like this.

“But, those boys said…,” Chaeyoung tried to confirm the information she just heard.

“Ah, it’s you,” said Jungkook as natural as possible. It seems like he couldn’t avoid this matter and had to tell her in the end.

“Me?” she scrunched her forehead as she didn’t get it.

“Eung… That girlfriend… It’s you,” said Jungkook shyly then explained everything to her. He also didn’t forget to apologize to her.

“So, that’s means, today is our first day, right?” asked Chaeyoung and it made Jungkook’s face turned all red.

***

The bell was ringing as a sign the school time was over. Dokyeom packed his bag then quickly come over to Jaehyun’s table.

“Have you seen Jungkook?” Dokyeom asked.

“No. Why?” Jaehyun responded looking so worried.

“No, it’s just… I am worried about him. You know, right? He is having intensive tutoring with Chaeyoungie,” Dokyeom was telling his concern.

Jaehyun just remembered that fact and started to felt so worried. They both then decided to come and see Jungkook. They were walking so quickly because it’s forbidden to run in the corridor. When they passed Mingyu’s class, they sneak peaked inside and called him. Just like Jaehyun, Mingyu also clueless at first but as soon as they said they mentioned Jungkook and Chaeyoung, Mingyu quickly cleaned his table and joined them.

“OH, TAEHYUNGA!!” called Jaehyun when he saw Taehyung was getting out of the class.

From Taehyung, they knew where was Jungkook whereabout. They all then head to the field. There was a lonely back sitting on the audience’s tribune. Without making any sound, they put down their bottom on the sturdy bench made of concrete next to that lonely back.

“Pffft…,” just like a choir, they were holding their laugh as soon as they saw Jungkook’s face. His face looks pitiful but also funny. There were two dark circles under his eyes, and he grew a third eyelid. His expression was also so gloomy. They could tell he must be so exhausted that made him looked like a zombie.

Jungkook turned his head and looking at his friends who were dying in laughter with a blank stare while sipping on his banana milk.

“Yeah, really. It’s still so hard for me to believe our great Captain is studying as hard as if he will join the international math competition,” Taehyung .

“Woah, look at those dark circles! That’s the proof of hard work! I am so proud of you, bro!” Dokyeom who sat next to Jungkook patted his back.

“If it’s continued, I guess our Kookie can beat Kim Doyoung and steal that first rank in this exam,” Jaehyun didn’t want to lose this teasing party.

“You got my respect, bro. You are truly the bravest man I ever met. Asking Chaeyoung to personally give you intensive training is… The bravest act I ever know,” Mingyu was giggling and it made his friends were also burst into laughter.

“Guys, I think we should commemorate this rare moment. Let’s take a picture!” Dokyeom took out his phone and started to take a selfie with his friends.

After they satisfied teasing his friends, they changed into serious mode. They know it was a difficult time for Jungkook. As soon as they were informed of Jungkook’s decision to take an intensive study session with Chaeyoung, they were so worried and asked him to reconsider his decision. But, Jungkook said he already made his decision, and it couldn’t be undone.

“So, what did she do to you to make you so obedient?” Dokyeom was so curious although he can imagine what happened to him.

Jungkook didn’t answer. He was busy sipping his banana milk until the last drop before replying to the question. It made their friends were looking at each other and started to get curious. Could sense it will become a long conversation, Jaehyun taking his phone out and called Chaeyoung to inform her Jungkook will be a bit late today because he had something to do at school. After the phone call ended, Jaehyun joined his friends again, staring at Jungkook and waiting for his story.

“I told you guys before the reason why I started this,” Jungkook replied to Dokyeom’s question. That night, as soon as he asked Chaeyoung for help, he told everything to them through a phone call.

“Yes, we knew. But we want to know how’s the intensive training was going. We are just curious… How can you turn into a zombie?” Taehyung still tried to make Jungkook spill the tea.

Jungkook didn’t answer right away. He shook the milk carton to ensure if it's already empty then sipped the air inside the box that made the carton box was shrinking. After the last drop of the milk, he opened the edge of the milk carton and put it into his jacket pocket. He will throw it later once he passed the trash bin.

“What?” Jungkook looked at his friends who intensely glare at him.

“Cut the dumbfounded play. Tell us what’s going on,” Dokyeom getting impatient with Jungkook’s act.

“It’s okay, I called Chaeyoung and said you will be late. Now, tell us!” as one of Chaeyoung’s pupils, Jaehyun also wanted to hear the story from another pupil. He didn’t want to be the only one who suffers. Besides, he wanted to complain to Chaeyoung if he found out Jungkook got special treatment.

Jungkook took a deep sigh and stared at the space before began his story.

“She just does what we usually do in our study group,” Jungkook’s answer made the others booed him.

“Truthfully, I don’t know she is so caring. On our first day, I just had enough of studying and wanted to go home so I gave her a sign by nodding and said yes to her explanation although I can’t understand. I hope she can catch it and stopped the lesson, but instead, she told me to take my time to understand. She will wait until her curfew so, just do the exercise slowly.

“Not only that, she often bought me chocolate pudding or cake. Sometimes, she gave me herbal medicine too. I searched it online and it's good food to increased your mood, concentration, and health. How caring of her, right? She always gave me those foods when I already losing my concentration and started to get pissed. I can tell how much she cared about me and tried to make me study till the end,”

Jungkook ended his story as he was suddenly out of breath. Strangely none of his friends were interrupting and waited for him to continued. He took a deep breath and showed a bitter smile while thinking about the next story he was about to tell them.

“You know what’s so wonderful about her? She is so positive. One day I did the post-test for Chemistry. Out of 10 questions, I only got 1 question right. Unlike other teachers who tend to scold their students when they still couldn’t understand the lesson, she returned my answer sheet with a bright smile and tell me I did great. No need to felt I was left behind because I still had enough time to learn until the exam. I only need to do more practice. You know what’s really touched me? She said to never hesitate to ask her if I am stuck. She will always ready to help, whenever, wherever. Her class is open 24/7.

“Not only that. Once after the cram school was over, she waited for me in my cram school’s lobby. I saw her standing in front of the bulletin board. She said she saw my rank and it’s not bad. It’s the perfect rank to start. Climbing up the rank is the most satisfying thing to do. It’s more thrilling. Maintaining your rank is no fun. Because what you can do is defends. Do you know what my rank is? I am literally in the bottom 10 in a whole school,” Jungkook still talking in a calm voice and a smile on his face and it’s made his friends wondering whether he was really okay. Usually, he would talk aggressively and in a higher tone but now he unexpectedly calm.

Once again, Jungkook took a quite long pause, and his friends still not giving any response. They all just staring blankly at the field and busy thinking about how hard Jungkook’s live in the past week. Secretly they were being grateful because they didn’t have to experience that kind of nightmare.

“Do you know what’s the happiest thing from this project? It’s because the gossip seems to turn to be a reality,” said Jungkook in a flat tone.

The three boys were instinctively looking at him curiously. Even without speaking, Jungkook knew what was on their head. It made him holding his smile.

“I started this project because people gossiping about us being a couple. But now it seems like it’s not just a mere gossip anymore,” said Jungkook while smiling shyly as if he was thinking about his girlfriend.

“What do you mean?” Taehyung asked him with a serious face.

Jungkook turned his head to looked at Taehyung and showed a meaningful smile.

“You… don’t tell me… It’s not true, right?” seeing how suspicious Jungkook’s reaction was made Mingyu got even more curious. Even more, he was the only one who knows about their past and it made him think maybe the story had twisted.

“I know it can happen since you two always together. But… Ah, really… Hey! Hurry tell us the truth!” Dokyeom lost his patience because he couldn’t hold this curiosity anymore.

Seeing how his friends were dying in curiosity made Jungkook got happier. He intentionally didn’t answer their question right away to annoy them. They really hate when they were left out with a cliffhanger. The more they got impatient, the more Jungkook enjoyed it. Finally, those three lost all of their remaining patience so they decided to use violence. They started grabbed Jungkook’s body and shook him as strong as possible.

“I GOT IT! I GOT IT! JUST STOP, I FELL LIKE TO THROW UP!” afraid Jungkook will vomiting the banana milk he drank earlier, they obediently stopped and wait for him to answer.

“The truth is… Just ask Jaehyun. He knows the answer,” Jungkook looked at Jaehyun who still sitting calmly. His calm reaction made Jungkook a bit disappointed so he decided to a little.

Jaehyun who was caught off guard got flustered. His face and ears suddenly turned so red, his heart also beating so fast. The hunger eyes now changed their target from Jungkook to Jaehyun. Jaehyun was gulping and locked his eyes to Jungkook, sent telepathy to help him.

“Wait… Me? Why me?” Jaehyun was a bit stuttered when trying to defend himself.

“HAHAHAHAHA!!!” Jungkook burst into laughter. He laughed so hard that made him lost his strength and lying down on the bench.

Jungkook's questionable acted made his friends looking at each other confusedly.

“Serve you all right! It’s indeed enjoyable seeing someone suffering,” Jungkook wiped his tears because he laughed too hard.

His friends showed an annoyed look on their faces. So, Jungkook was getting his revenge because they were laughing at his suffering earlier. Well, they deserve it too so they just accepted it without arguing.

“So, how the hell she ended being your ‘girlfriend’? asked Taehyung when making a v-sign using his fingers and move it as he mentioned “girlfriend”.

“Hmm… It’s a long story. If I can say, it’s come naturally. Think about it again, it probably started when I sent her my assignment at 3 AM in the morning. That night I was really tired and decided to not doing my assignment. But I couldn’t sleep because I kept hearing a katalk notification sound. I woke up, got to my desk, and worked on it. Surprisingly she replied to my messages right away. It’s amazing how she kept her words by saying her class was open 24/7.

“Since that day, the intensity of her text increased drastically. She always sends me a message every single day. Asking me whether I eat well, sleep well, and did the exam well. Don’t forget how she always reminds me to take care of my health and have enough sleep,” said Jungkook when smiling shyly.

“You did a good job, Captain,” said Taehyung while patting on Jungkook's shoulder.

“Now I know why the heck you turn into a zombie. It must be hard for you, huh. Chaeyoungie really… She indeed one of a kind,” said Mingyu who also joined Taehyung and patted Jungkook's left shoulder.

“I know how you feel. She can make people feel threatened although she is not threatening them. She also can make us feel guilty even when she never mentioned our crime. I know some people who use sarcasm or cynical words to do that, but she is different. She had no intention to do that. She just being herself, being kind,” Dokyeom tried to help Mingyu describing.

"Because of that kindness and sincerity, we couldn’t help but to feel pressured. The feeling to don’t want to make her disappointed is the real drive to make us do our best. We can’t even complain nor get mad to her because she gives her best for our sake,” Taehyung added his opinion based on his experience.

“In summary, she can be evil in the kindest way,” Jaehyun said the closing speech and it made them laugh because of how precise that sentence describes her.

As usual, after a loud laugh, it comes a long silence. Each of those friends didn’t say a word. They were thinking the same thing, it surely a tough week for Jungkook. They were happy Jungkook still doing fine and not losing his mind. Just like his friends, Jungkook also glad he could share his tough moments with his friends. It really made him feel at ease.

“Shall we tag along too? If it’s too hard for you to handle alone, then let us join you!” Taehyung suddenly got an idea. The others nodded as they were agreed.

Jungkook smiled. He really appreciated their offer, but he remembered what Chayoung said. Taehyung wasn’t the type who can study in a crowded place. He didn’t know about the other, but he thought it will give them a burden.

“Thanks, guys. I really appreciate your concern, but, don’t worry I am not the type who can chicken out during the battle. Although I looked like someone who almost crossed the sanity border, I am totally fine. Having you guys here listening to my absurd nonsense is more than enough to give me strength. Most importantly, I don’t want you to become the third wheel,” said Jungkook while standing up then dusting his pants.

His last sentence made all of them laugh. It’s so Jungkook, their beloved captain who never gives up and knows how to lessen their worry.

Jungkook took his bag and said goodbye to them. He didn't want to make Chaeyoung wait for too long. He had enough break and now he was all prepared for the battle.

“Our captain, is he gonna be, okay?” said Dokyeom.

“It's okay. He is gonna be fine. Jungkook is a strong man with a strong mentality. Moreover, the tutor is Chaeyoungie. We don't need to worry about him, she will take good care of him,” Taehyung tried to comforting Dokyeom.

“Well, I guess it's not the time for us to worry about Jungkook. We should try our best if we don't want Jungkook to beat us, right?” Mingyu stood up and extended his hands to his friends who still sitting down.

They were smiling and reached Mingyu hands then Mingyu pulled them up. They were then walking together towards the bus station. Seeing how hard Jungkook work tickled their spirit. They were evaluating themselves whether they ever studying as hard as Jungkook. Now, they wanted to go home as soon as possible so that they can do their best on their final day at school too.

One by one their bus was coming. Dokyeom and Taehyung were leaving first while Mingyu and Jaehyun was still waiting. Mingyu asked whether Jaehyun would take the bus too but he said he will take the taxi. It's a hassle to ride the bus because he should transfer several times and had to walk a long way from the station to his home. Mingyu chuckled to . The rich man was indeed different.

“Jaehyunna,” Mingyu called Jaehyun as he remembered there was something he curious about.

“What?” asked Jaehyun.

“Earlier… when Jungkook pranks us about having a girlfriend, and said you know the answer, why are you…” Mingyu was cutting his words because Jaehyun was taking his phone out of his jacket in hurry.

“Oh, sorry, my sister is calling,” said Jaehyun while picking up the phone call.

Mingyu was waiting for him but as soon as Jaehyun ended the phone call, he suddenly forgot what he was going to ask. The bus was coming and Mingyu said goodbye to Jaehyun who as always, be the last one to stood at the bus stop as he was taking a taxi. Once Mingyu sat down and smiled at Jaehyun through the bus window, he remembered what he gonna ask. As he stared at Jaehyun’s face, he then glad he didn’t ask him. Somehow, he got a feeling it's better if he didn't know
