"Holy f-" the light brown haired male cursed as he walked into his apartment. His second cousin was literally setting up fairy lights in his living room. He smacked his palm onto his face, sighing at the sheer absurdity of it all. 

"Yah!" he yelled, cringing slightly as she jumped at the loudness of his voice. She immediately stepped down from the chair she was using to set up the lights. Facing him with a mix of scared and apologetic look, he softened his voice before continuing, "What are you doing?" 

"You told me to set up some lights if I'm really that scared of the dark," she obediently answered his question, pouting a little. He sighed, shaking his head. "I shouldn't have done this then?" she worriedly continued on, cocking her head to the side. Her eyes are furrowed in confusion. 

"I was just joking ..." He bluntly confessed, biting his lips as he waited for her reaction. He's heard her parents saying she was sensitive- maybe being honest would be going the wrong way. He's pulled back to watching her as she stepped back up onto the chair. Taking down the fairy lights, he can see she's tearing a little. 

"Hey," he fondly caught her attention, "let's set this up in your room instead, yeah?"

Her teary eyes are now widened. "R-room?" she stuttered because last she checked, there was only one room in the apartment. 

"Yeah, I have a lot of work to do," he begun explaining, "My bed calls out to me too much ... and I end up being unprotective so I think I should finish my work outside."

"But you'll have to sleep on the couch and that's ver-" she tried to politely decline his offer- it was his room after all. She's cut off by the glare her cousin sends her.

"Do it for me?" he simply asked, knowing she couldn't say no to that. She's too obedient for her own good, he thinks. That's all it takes to get his room be filled with fairy lights- his place was rather dimly lit and an innocent teenager tucked warmly in his bed.

Maybe something good will come out of this strange relationship.
