evolution and revolution

Chaeyeon's barely taken off her shoes and has entered her house when she receives this text message from him. It's short, to the point and polite. They're more at ease now, even though they're still laying low and keeping it a secret from others, it's visible that they're more comfortable with the idea of "them" now than they've ever been before. Communication really is the key, it solves all problems and overcomes all barriers. They spoke and they listened, they were a balanced team this afternoon. A very well balanced team. 

And now, Jaehyun wants to do it again. 

Chaeyeon wants too as well.

Okay. Sure. 

The next few weeks are dramatic yet blissful. A handful of people knows, all of them their classmates. Some knew by mere observation, others because Chaeyeon couldn't really keep shut and ended up spilling because she was like a mouse cornered by cats. The next dates coame more frequently, if not every weekend then it's every Friday afternoon plus the weekends. They're more open, more expressive and Chaeyeon's always been touchy but it's just different with him now.

Every discrete hug, every glance, every touch, every skin to skin contact sends a secret message between the two of them. Chaeyeon smiles, and Jaehyun will smile back but it's different now than it was before. Very different. 

"That's easy as fu- sorry." Jaehyun laughs a little at the expression she gives him as he snatched the key and lock from her hands and proceeded to lock the classroom. "Gosh, Chae, you can't even lock a door?"

Chaeyeon bumps him forcefully with her shoulder. "Shut up," she hisses, glaring at him with narrowed eyes and a pouty sort of expression. "I had it, okay? I didn't really -"

"Yeah," he laughs again. "Save it." he hands her the key with a big, smug smile on his face as he begins to walk away. 

Chaeyeon is about to turn the other way, ready to walk home by herself when Jaehyun calls her name again.

"Wait, Chaeyeon."

She turns around. He stops walking. 

"Bye, get home safe." He lifts his hand and waves, accompanied by a smile.
