He tells himself he’ll cross the street after this blue Honda civic will pass. Three seconds later, he’s still rooted on the same spot, still staring at the house on the other side, fingers still twitching and hovering over the screen of his phone, heart still racing a hundred miles per hour.
“I’m here.” Why can’t he just send it?
If he does, he’ll finally see her. She’ll walk out of the door, out of the front gates and he will cross the street (finally, after several minutes or so of standing there like a creepy stalker who had plans of robbing the house at night) and they will meet and they will smile at each other with the highest level of awkwardness shrouding them.
He always gets to see her, in school, in the classroom. But this time is different. Much, much different than before. In all kinds of aspects. Given the situation, it's natural for Jaehyun to feel nervous about today. It's Do or Die day for them after all.
He mans up. He has to. He in a deep breath and hits send.
Thirty seconds pass.
"Okay."
He waits for one more agonizing minute before she appears in a blur of dark blue clothes, red shoes and jet black hair. He can feel his head getting lighter, his heart squeezes in anticipation. He’s not sure if it’s the good kind, the bad kind or all of the kinds in between.
Jaehyun composes himself and turns his head left and right before crossing. He pointedly and purposefully avoids looking at her figure standing outside their front gate. But of course, he couldn’t do that for the rest of the afternoon.
“Hi,” it’s a little airy, a little breathless. An indication Jung Chaeyeon was nervous as well.
He glanced at her and felt his insides churn as he was feeling the same way she was; probably even more.
