I just heard you found the one you've been looking—
You've been looking for
I wish I would have known that wasn't me

'Cause even after all this time I still wonder
Why I can't move on
Just the way you did so easily

(We Don't Talk Anymore, cover by Jungkook & Jimin)

The One He Loved

"No, I'm not being suicidal and no, I don't have a knife with me," he says "Why would you think that?"

"I don't know Jimin. Which one of us spent half a year acting like the walking dead?" comes Jung Hoseok's judgmental voice. Jimin couldn't help but roll his eyes as he rests his back against the tree.

"That was a long time ago, hyung."

"It still haunts me to this day," says his roommate/dance team captain, "And I don't want to go back to the Dark Ages."

Jimin shivers at the memory; he undestands why Hoseok would feel that way. "I'm not going back there, hyung. Trust me," he assures his friend, "I'm surrounded by cherry blossoms right now. I'll take a photo to prove it and I'll come back alive."

"Good. You know that's what I want Jimin-ah," says Hoseok, "You deserve better."

The younger one smiles. "You sound like my mother."

"Well, you know that you do."

"I know, hyung."

Hoseok sighs on the other line. "Well, I have practice in a few. Looking forward to see you next week, kid."

Jimin hangs up and shoves his phone inside his pocket, but not before he snaps a photo of the cherry blossoms. Hoseok volunteered to accompany him in this little trip, but busy schedules trapped his hyung. The former decided it would be better for the latter to take this excursion alone.

Right now, he's grateful to have someone like his Hoseok hyung. Ever since he moved to the city to pursue his dreams of dancing, Jimin felt a little homesick every now and then. It was in Hoseok he found solace and a brother figure, someone who guided him through life while he was away from his family.

Standing up, he brushes the dirt off his pants and stares at the sky as another face invades his memories. Similar to Taehyung, the face had the charm of a child, but this one came with a one-of-a-kind enigma.

After a year of forgetting, Jeon Jungkook haunts Jimin once again.

"I don't know what I'm going to do, Hoseok hyung. How could...he do this?"

Jimin had already lost count of the bottles of beer he consumed. The mere fact that everything was hazy was enough proof of the total number of alcohol he drank on a single night. In reality, he wasn't much of a drinker, but tonight called for it. He had a broken heart; he had every right to drown his sorrows in alcohol.

"Jimin-ah, you know it's not. He told you the same thing," reasoned Hobi, who watched him helplessly, "Please Jimin, alcohol kills. You know that. Don't hurt yourself like this." He tried to get the bottle away but Jimin held it closer. The older one sighed. "Jimin-ah, you said you were okay with Jungkook's decision. You said it was fine. Why are you like this?"

The younger one took his shot and slammed the glass.

A tear rolled down his cheek.

"I just...miss him," he admitted.

---

Jeon Jungkook was the accident waiting to happen in Jimin's life.

He was that mysterious new kid in Jimin's dance company. When he first came, everyone thought he'd be that wimp they'd end up bullying. Jimin thought the same thing; his sunbaes weren't exactly that kind to newbies. But when Jungkook started to show them he was good at everything (literally, everything), he gained everyone's respect.

Including Jimin's.

Soon enough, Jungkook became the golden member of the dance troop. Everyone wanted to be his friend, the girls went crazy over him, and he was the star of the show. Despite the popularity, he maintained his humble and enigmatic aura that drew a number to him.

Still including Jimin.

It didn't help that Jungkook was his type. Taller than him and with a strong build, Jungkook complemented his body with a beautiful face: round eyes, full lips, and porcelain tanned skin. Of course, Jimin never said anything about his little crush. He didn't want everyone to pick on him for having a "gay crush" on the new guy; plus, he had a bad feeling the girls would be after his neck. As a result, he didn't talk to Jungkook much.

He wanted to, though.

One day, Jimin decided to do a dance cover in the practice room. He wanted to do something to amaze his coaches and team captain. Playing Park Ji Yoon's Coming of Age Ceremony song, he stretched a bit before dancing his life on the line.

Whenever the music played, he always ends up lost in his little world. Jimin drowned himself in the beauty of the music, swaying his hips and jumping powerfully. People said he was the perfect combination of deadly but graceful, and he was out to prove them right.

On the song's last note, he ended with a flourish.

Sweat dripped from his forehead as he took a deep breath, replenishing his lungs with air.

"Wow."

Jimin was startled with the second voice in the area. Was there a ghost?

He looked around and almost gasped (but was smart enought not to). Jeon Jungkook was leaning by the door, towel on his shoulder, looking at him with awe.

"Did...you just watch me?" asked a confused Jimin.

Jungkook's brows raised in worry. "Oh...I'm sorry, was I not supposed to?" he asked, "I...I just wanted to get my bag." He pointed at the lockers, "But then I saw you dancing and I...I didn't want to bother you." He sheepishly rubbed the back of his head. "It...it was great though. Did you choreograph it by yourself?"

"Yes."

The younger one's jaw dropped. "Wow...that was good," he said, "Is it for a special performance, Jimin hyung?"

"No...it's just for me."

Jungkook hesitated. "Is...it okay if you teach it to me?" he asked, "I know...that sounds weird, but it looked so great. I want to learn it too."

The dongsaeng looked at his hyung with a hopeful expression.

Jimin stared at this boy (he was 2 years younger than him) and was once again captivated by presence of the golden dancer. He couldn't even believe Jungkook asked him to teach him this dance. He heard stories that Jungkook was such a good dancer, he learned dances on his own. But here he was, looking sheepish, and politely asking Jimin for a lesson.

What's the best thing to do?"

"Sure, why not?"

That was the start of everything else.

Everyday, after regular practice. Jimin and Jungkook would stay behind to practice Coming of Age Ceremony; Jimin would teach his dongsaeng the steps, guide Jungkook towards the proper footwork, and help him be better. In return, Jungkook would amuse him with amazing dance steps, stories, and jokes. What started out as a formal conversation transformed into a friendly relationship between the two boys. They would laugh, share their worries, and de-stress.

It came to a point where Jimin would always anticipate their little sessions.

"Oh my god, you're totally whipped," teased Hobi one day as Jimin laid on his bed, "You really like this guy."

"I am not whipped," replied Jimin, looking affronted, "Jungkook is just a nice guy."

"A nice guy you really like."

"Shut up, hyung."

"I can see your face lighting up whenever you guys talk," observed Hoseok, "The same expression applies when you talk over the phone, chat, or do SNS. It's written all over your face Jiminnie. It's the same expression I have when Yoongi texts."

"But he's your significant other."

"And you want Jungkook to be yours."

The conversation ended with Jimin tackling his hyung to the ground as he tried to suppress his feelings for Jungkook. But whether he liked it or not, he knew Hoseok was right. He was just in denial.

An annual competition within the company led Hoseok to encourage Jimin to enter his "collaboration" with Jungkook.

"I don't know..." hesitated Jimin, "I mean, it's not as polished."

"But it's a chance to 'practice' more," teased Hobi.

"Ah hyung, it's not like that," replied Jimin, shoving his senior, "I don't think it's good enough for a company showcase. Besides, Jungkook might not want to enter it --"

"Jungkook might not enter what?"

The dongsaeng came inside the practice studio, sweating from his rehearsal. He got some water and brushed off some sweat, staring at the older boys in curiosity.

"The annual competition, kiddo," answered Hobi, "I was telling Jimin here that maybe you guys should enter you Coming of Age Ceremony performance, but Jimin's being a little wimp. He says he doesn't have the confidence in your piece."

Jungkook took a drink and wiped his lips (Jimin was momentarily distracted by it). He raised an eyebrow at his hyungs. "Why not? I think it's a great idea," he said, "I've been watching our rehearsal vids and I think our piece would slay. I was actually about to suggest it to Jimin hyung the other day." He then rubbed the back of his head, the popular sheepish look. "But I thought he wouldn't be all for it."

"Oh he's for it," said Hoseok, "He's just thinking about you and your opinions."

"Jimin hyung is always thinking about others and their opinions," remarked the dongsaeng, "For once, I wish he'd realize that his ideas are the best."

A little blush crept on Jimin's cheeks, which he hid by getting water himself.

Entering the competition gave Jimin and Jungkook more time together -- not that the former had any complaints. But as he spent more time with the golden dancer, Jimin couldn't help but fall hopelessly enamored with him. Nights saw only the two boys dancing without anyone looking; when they took a break, they would talk about the day's worries. As Jimin got to know Jungkook more, his feelings grew.

But he kept it to himself; he didn't want to freak Jungkook out.

That didn't stop Jimin from unconsciously dropping hints of his little crush. He was notorious for being the caretaker of the group, but anyone could see that he took extra care of Jungkook. He was always on the lookout for the younger one, giving him vitamin drinks often, and providing pep talks whenever Junkook felt discouraged.

"As Jimin hyung is such a good carer," Jungkook once said, "I bet anyone who marries him is the luckiest person on earth."

Jimin had to hide behind his hands to keep others from seeing his blushing cheeks.

On the day of the competition, Jimin was nervous as hell. The seniors who danced previously did a job well done; he didn't know how he and Jungkook could beat them. It was a pretty gutsy move -- joining the annual compet riddled by more experienced dancers. No one expected them to outbest their sunbaes, but Jimin set high expectations from himself, it made him so
