Reincarnation  [ re·in·car·na·tion ˌrēənkärˈnāSH(ə)n/ ]

- the belief that a soul, upon physical death, comes back to earth in another form (e.g. the opposite gender, animal, plant, etc.)

All souls are on a mission to evolve, grow or develop. Some believe that souls go through the journey similar to that of a farmer's -- sowing, tilling, and reaping the harvest. This means a soul has three times to achieve perfection, to right all the wrongs.

It is also interesting to note that the evolution of the soul occurs when an individual wills it so. Deities have the power to block such desires, unless the life cycle has a greater purpose. 

"Star-crossed" or "star-crossed lovers"

- a phrase used to describe a pair of lovers with a relationship often thwarted by outside forces

- pairs are often doomed from the start, but some can make it through.

Romeo and Juliet are the poster children of all star-crossed lovers. There is no supernatural explanation as to why unfortunate lovers happen, but they do. It is said that victims of star-crossed fates are often included in the list of souls who wish to be reincarnated [see page 345 for reincarnation].
