A short excerpt I: Angst

“You never loved me anyways,” she whispered.

I looked at the woman in front of me as she sat, looking straight into nothingness, hands gathered on her lap. Her long dark hair, she cut it all off. They were bright, dusty blonde. She looked more mature, confident – but yet so fragile when she first entered the confinement and saw me. I saw her too. And I wanted to protect her from all the harm, danger and pain. I was one who wished to wipe away all the tears she spilled over me.

“Don’t look for me anymore.” LIE.

When we first met, when she noticed me that day, I felt my world stopped spinning, and my insides churned, my lungs almost failed me. They still do now each time I get a glimpse of her on social media. She always looks like she is fine – to the point that something is dying to come out of my mouth because it hurts so much to see her being fine. It’s both glad and repulsion. The way her dark-brown eyes always sparkled; I remember how she hated them because she was jealous of mine. She said my eyes were honest. Though she would never see hers the way I do.
