Chapter 2
On Guard
What’s going on?
Where is everyone?
Why can’t I see anything?
Bom lifted her eyelids slowly.
“Bom!” Her three friends cried in unison.
Bom touched her face to see if she was dreaming or not.
“Bom!” Jiyong yelled first.
“Are you okay?” Dara asked.
“We were so worried!” Chaerin sighed with relief.
Their voices overlapped each other. Bom started panting out of fear. She could clearly hear voices but none of her friends were at her sight.
She kept blinking , hoping to see traces of the white and blue hospital room.
Nothing.
Black was all she saw.
“No…this can’t be happening…” Bom panicked as the stench of fear took over the room.
She couldn’t see the clean private hospital room.
She couldn’t see her hands in front of her.
She couldn’t see the glee on her friend’s faces.
The colourful world was taken away right before her eyes- leaving nothing but darkness.

“They said it's temporary blindness.” Bom confessed to Dongwook.
“They don’t know when I’ll recover and they don’t know if I’ll ever recover,” Bom added.
Dongwook froze at the sudden news. His face whitened as if he saw a ghost.
What scared her the most was not being able to see his reaction. She couldn’t tell what was on his mind.
“Dongwook?” Bom called, afraid that he’ll run away.
“How could this happen?” Dongwook muttered while rubbing his temples.
“I don’t know…I don’t remember …but the doctors are guessing that someone sprayed something in my eyes…”
Dongwook balled his fist.
“Who could’ve done such thing?” Dongwook said to himself.
Dongwook took a minute to process the information.
“Everything will be okay. I will ensure every single police in Seoul will be on this case. I will find the murderer and put him behind bars.”
Dongwook’s words should be comforting but they did nothing more than bringing out worries.
