There was nothing but grave silence inside hospital room. Park Bom has been awake for an hour now but she still remained lifeless. Too many things happened. It was a lot to take in. She was still in the midst of piecing the horrendous situation together. Her friends Lee Chaerin, Sandara Park and Kwon Jiyong sat silently around her bed after their many failed attempts of small talk.

“How are my parents?” Bom finally spoke up.

Her friends gave each other worried looks. They prepared for this and yet their tongues tied.

“They didn’t make it…” Jiyong eventually answered.

Bom knew it but deep inside she prayed for a miracle. She tried to hold her tears back but it was no use.

She'll never see her parents again. 

The tears fell down along with the trail of regret.

Chaerin and Dara got up to comfort the distraught Bom.

“They were murdered…” Bom croaked.

Chaerin continued consoling her by patting her back.

“The fire was not an accident. They were murdered!” Bom repeated firmly.

None of her friends argued with her. They all knew how rich Bom’s parents were. There were many green eyed monsters lurking in society- all waiting for the chance to leech off. It was just heartbreaking to watch their best friend go through this tortuous cycle. The four of them lived in the same city, went to the same luxurious high school and university. They grew up together.
