Going back afterall

Don't Let Me Go - an Addicted (Heroin) Fanfiction

Weizhou and Jingyu was on their way to the cemetery when Weizhou remembered that he still has Jingyu’s phone on him.

“Jingyu, are you not going to take your phone back?” Weizhou asked.

“I don’t need one anymore.” Jingyu responded. “Perhaps you can take it back to shanghai. I really don’t mind being disconnected for a while. If I ever really want to talk, I’ll contact them through payphone.”

They arrived at the cemetery but stayed outside for a while. Previously, Mother Superior already gave them the location of the grave of Weizhou’s parents. But still, Weizhou refuses to enter the cemetery.

“Are you afraid of the cemetery?” Jingyu asked.

“Of course I am not.” Weizhou replied.

“Then what are you standing there for?” Jingyu irritably asked.

“It’s just that…” Weizhou paused. “I am lost for words.”

“It feels like I have a lot of things I should tell them.” Weizhou continued. “But I can’t find the right words to them. I can’t explain how…”

“Then tell them what you feel. Tell them what you said you would tell them. I thought you told me before that you’re going to thank them? Do it. Thank them.”

“It’s not like it’s a quiz or something. If you are going to tell them what you feel, you can never go wrong. They are your parents. I’m sure they’ll understand.”

With that, Jingyu accompanied Weizhou until they located the grave.

“I’ll be right behind you.” Jingyu said and then Weizhou nodded.

Weizhou stared at his parent’s grave. He did not realize that there are tears already flowing from his eyes.

“Thank you for giving me a chance to be brought into this world. Although I do not remember either of you, I will remember you now. Mom, I know you did not want to part with me, but I’m sure you are in better place now. Dad, I forgive you. I know you love mom more than you love me but I want you to know that I understand.”

“I have been adopted into a loving family, so you do not need to worry about me. I have been nurtured well. They gave me shelter. They have never let me starve a day. They love me as their own. And I do love them back.”

“Mother, Father, I will be taking my leave now. I will come back frequently. Good bye, for now.”

Weizhou turned back and saw Jingyu looking back at him.

“Look at those flabby eyes!” Jingyu teased.

“Is it that bad?” Weizhou asked.

“It is.”

After they got back from the cemetery, Weizhou hurried to their room and then organized his luggage.

He will not be using the ferry to come back to the mainland tomorrow. His editor insisted on taking a morning flight back to Shanghai. So his travel back will be much shorter.

Earlier, Weizhou could actually booked a flight on the way here to Taiwan but he was not a rush so he did not feel like he has to. But actually riding the ferry has been a meaningful journey for him. If not, he would not have the chance to meet Jingyu, who has been with him all the step of the way during his stay here in Taiwan.

He finished organizing his luggage and only took out the clothes he would be wearing tomorrow.

“Are you done organizing?”

Weizhou turned to the direction of the voice and saw Jingyu leaning at the doorframe.

“Yeah. I’ll be leaving at first light. You might still be asleep then so I guess I’ll be saying my goodbye now before you go to sleep.” Weizhou said.

“I’m driving you to the airport tomorrow. Really? Asking Sister Clarence to drive you at the bus stop so early in the morning? Don’t you know that busses only come every 45 minutes in this area? What if you missed the first bus?”

“Then I’ll wait another 45 minutes.”

“That won’t do. I already got the truck keys from Sister Clarence. I’m driving you straight to the airport.” Jingyu said like he’s stating an order.

“Are you that desperate to get rid of me?” Weizhou joked.

“It’s not that.” Jingyu blushed.

“Then what is it?” Weizhou asked.

“I just want my good friend to arrive comfortably at the airport tomorrow. Is that not a good reason?” Jingyu explained.

“Alright my ‘good’ friend, why don’t you go to sleep now so you can be a ‘good’ driver tomorrow. I don’t want my ‘good’ friend being a ‘grumpy’ driver because I know my ‘good’ friend is not a morning person.” Weizhou teased.

“Stop it before I change my mind.” Jingyu irritably said.

“Alright, good night my ‘good’ friend.” Weizhou teased again.

Jingyu hissed.

Weizhou woke to the ringing of a phone. It’s still about an hour before his actual alarm to ring but he can’t help waking up to the phone ringing this early in the morning. But the one ringing is not his phone. It was Jingyu’s phone.

Weizhou contemplated on answering it at first but then he saw Jingyu was still dozing off to dreamland so he swiped the screen to answer the phone and held it in his ears.

“Good morning, this is Brother Johnny’s phone. May I know who this is?”

“Hi, I am Paramedic Xia. There has been an accident involving Zhang Nini and this number is listed as her emergency contact. May I please speak with the person called Huang Jingyu?”

“Alright, I’ll get him.”

“Jingyu, wake up.”

“Wake up. You have an urgent call.”

“Wake up, god dammit!”

With that last shout Jingyu finally managed to get up.

“Who is it?” Jingyu asked.

“It’s a paramedic. I think someone named Zhang Nini has been in an accident.”

Jingyu without a word grabbed the phone and then talked to the person on the other side of the line.

“This is Huang Jingyu speaking.”

“I’m Paramedic Xia, how are you related to Zhang Nini?”

“She’s my ex-girlfriend. What happened to her?”

“She has been involved in a car crash and is still unconscious. While no serious injury has been sustained, we noticed that she is three weeks pregnant. Sir, are you aware of this pregnancy?”

“I am not.” Jingyu answered. “I’m not even sure if that baby is mine.”

“Sir, can you please come to the hospital to be her guardian? I contacted her parents and both are out of the country.”

“Sure.” Jingyu responded.

“What was that about?” Weizhou asked.

“Looks like I’m going back to Shanghai after all.”

“My ex-girlfriend has been in a car crash. She’s fine but they said she’s three weeks pregnant. I must go back to confirm this. And if that child is mine.”

Jingyu quickly prepared his luggage and waked Sister Clarence to let her drive them to the bus stop. A few hours later, both Jingyu and Weizhou arrived at the airport and is waiting to board the plane.

“I thought you were never coming back.” Weizhou said.

“I thought I was never coming back. But if that child is mine, I guess I’ll be forced to stay.” Jingyu said.

“What if it’s not yours?” Weizhou asked.

“Then it will be good riddance between Nini and I. We never had the chance to talk about breaking up you know. When I ran straight here in Taiwan.”

“If that child is truly mine, I will take responsibility for it but I will still never get back together with Nini. The mere thought of her infuriates me.”

“But if that baby is not mine then this will be the last time I’m going to involve myself with that woman.”

Author’s Note:

Hi, Prince here.

As you have noticed, this chapter is 4 weeks behind the scheduled once or twice a week. During this 4 weeks, so many personal things had happened to me. And I will list it all for you.

  • My granny died so I had to mourn.
  • My aunt has been hospitalized and I am regularly at the hospital to look after her
  • I had to study for my final exams.
  • Or I am just plain lazy during my free time.

March has been a really harsh month for me so even though I wanted to, I refused to write a chapter until March was over. Regular chapters will still come out every Wednesdays and Saturdays just as promised. Please stand by me even though I have been a crappy writer this days.
