Lee Taemin
It was because of her. (Sequel to As time goes by)Minzy was always there for me, always.
When my parents divorced.
When I broke my hand, and couldn't take notes in school.
Even when I broke her heart.
"The pain of heartbreak."
Heartbreak.
Is there anything good I ever did for her?
"Taemin-ssi? May I speak to you for a moment." That voice, the one who so sweetly asked for my attention in the past, but now it showed a distance. Not wanting to get to close to me. A sigh escaped her lips.
"Taemin-ssi?" I turn to her. Not saying anything. It gives me a chance to look at her features. Those once innocent eyes, now show experience. They show her whole story. Those lips that always showed a bright smile, now into a straight line. As if to show me that something is going to be given up today. Forgotten.
She brings her hand up, hand formed in a ball, as if holding somthing.
My eyes widen.
"I don't see the need to keep this anymore." She smiled, her eyes forming crescents on her face.
I couldn't say anything, I was speechless.
She smiled one last time, then turned ad walked away.
"Give it to someone you love next time, Taemin."
I watch as her figure disappears down the hall.
I open my palm, wanting to see what she gave me.
I was a tiny box and a folded note.
I hurriedly unfold the note, and read it immediately.
"Taemin.
I thought about last night over and over again. Said things I never thought I would say.
I'm proud of how we both handled it. We both matured over the course of the years.
If you open the box, it's the ring you gave me when you told me those three words.
I love you. But those words don't belong to me anymore, as does the ring.
I stared at it for a good amount of time, I couldn't let go. I didn't want to.
But I had to.
It was good while it lasted.
...Thanks.
Gong Minzy"
I gazed at the paper for what seemed like the longest time.
She finally got over it, but was I?
I fold the paper with utmost care.
And open the tiny box, my eyes getting blurry.
It was there. The ring that showed my devoution and love towards her. Still in perfect condition. It glistened in the light.
I was stupid.
I broke her, what seemed like beyond repair.
But in the end she helped me.
"Oppa, what are you doing?"
I close the box and hide it in my pocket.
"Suzy? Oh, nothing."
I can't give it to the girl I love.
I already gave it to the girl I loved in the past.
But she returned it to me.
"Let's go now, Suzy."
