Thirteenth Chapter
Yet another Korean dramaEric cracked his eyes open a little and startled. Someone stood in the shadows. His heart was thudding. He didn’t remember anything, but he felt scared – somehow, he had an idea that what had happened to him had been intentional. He sighed when Junjin revealed himself. He was holding his IV drip. His arm was in a cast. Eric looked at him. “I thought you were recovering from surgery?” the CEO spoke.
“Yeah, well,” Junjin rubbed his neck with the hand that had held the IV before. “You know me.”
“I do, and that’s why I feared this would happen,” Eric mumbled. “Why are you here exactly?”
Junjin approached the bed and looked at the man, whose leg was wrapped just like his arm. “I wanted to see how you’re doing,” Junjin explained.
“The doctor told me I have amnesia,” Eric said.
Junjin furrowed his eyebrows quizzically. How could Eric have amnesia? It was bizarre. Junjin had been hit the hardest. He didn’t understand human body so maybe it was something else. Maybe it was the shock.
“Amnesia?” Junjin spoke out loud.
“Yeah, like, I forgot things,” Eric explained dumbly. “Hey, I have a question.” Junjin was all ears. “Who is Hyesung?”
Eric’s amnesia was strange indeed. It was as if he remembered everyone else but Hyesung. It was selected. Hyesung had just joined their household so Eric didn’t have a deep bond with him yet, or he didn’t share what he shared with the other members. Junjin realised he had been thinking far too long and Eric’s face was odd.
“Oh, Hyesung hyung?”
“Hyung…” Eric whispered. “So, you’re that close, huh?” he wondered.
“Well, not just me and him. Him and you were basically like a married couple.” Eric’s eyes widened. “You bicker all the time and I think you really enjoy it.”
Eric didn’t believe what he heard. “But I’m…I’m not gay.” he stuttered a bit.
“You don’t have to be gay to bicker with each other,” Junjin commented. “You just really like it.”
“Nonsense,” Eric claimed. “I love Jimin.”
Junjin had forgotten his true reason for being there. He couldn’t rest when Jimin was guarding the hallways. “Talking about Jimin…” Junjin cleared his throat. He didn’t know how to tell it to this man. Eric had once realised how much he hated her. She was manipulative and unstable. But now he had that gloss in his eyes. He had never had that gloss in his eyes, except when he argued with Hyesung. “I need to tell you—” the door opened and Jimin stepped inside.
Junjin looked over his shoulder in terror. As if she had heard everything, she glared at the chauffeur. Her high heels clasped on the floor as she advanced the bed. “What is he doing in here?” She snapped rudely. She had never understood why Eric was so close with the help.
“We were just—”
“I wanted to know how hyungnim was feeling,” Junjin cut him. “No one told me anything while I kept asking.” he glanced at Eric, giving him a weird look. It was as if the old Eric was back for a fraction of a second, because it seemed like he understood what it meant. “I decided to take the matter in my own hands and come and ask.” Junjin wasn’t lying. He wanted to see how Eric was doing because none of these freaking people would tell him.
“I see,” Jimin sat down next to Eric, crossing her legs, and placed her hand onto Eric’s. She was wearing a ring that Eric had once given her- it should have been in the desk in Eric’s office. “Well, you should be more careful.” Junjin’s stomach turned. “I don’t want my Ericie to stress over the memories of the accident.”
She didn’t seem to know that Junjin knew about her. Junjin smiled, making it seem very real, and bowed. “Well, I will go and rest then.” he announced, looking at Eric. “Get well soon, hyungnim.” the older man nodded and smiled and then turned his gaze at Jimin.
“What were you two actually talking about?” She muttered seriously.
“We talked about…” Eric was going to say that Junjin had something to say about her, but the look had meant something. “…Hyesung.” he said.
The rage in Jimin’s eyes grew big. “Why were you talking about Hyesung?!” she jumped up.
“Because…I want to remember this Hyesung person.” Eric stated. “I really do.”
Jimin cackled like a witch. “You are a bastard Mun Junghyuk,” she crooned. “A bastard, I tell you.”
Eric blinked his eyes in confusion and watched how his girlfriend walked off. “What the hell…?” he said out loud.
Nothing explained it why Eric was suddenly acting so strangely toward Andy. He had never been affectionate toward the man. Andy wasn’t even sure if Eric had ever cared about him. One thing was sure. Andy had always cared and loved Eric. Always. Nothing changed that. Hyesung was right. Andy hated to admit it, but he was right. Eric had never shown interest toward him. What he was doing now was just hurting more.
And Junjin. Andy pondered. He had been so caring when the butler had been ill. He had no reason to. They hated each other. They had always hated each other. Andy didn’t know why he hated Junjin, he had just always felt that way toward him. But he had meant what he had said. He would do anything to give back to Junjin. He would help him the best he could.
“I don’t want my biggest enemy to die” Andy remembered Junjin had said. “Biggest enemy.” the butler said out loud. “I seem to be the biggest enemy to everyone…” he looked at his hand that he had slapped Hyesung
