The Korean remake of The Notebook was highly anticipated by the public. With the news that Park Sooyoung was starring opposite Jeon Jungkook to recreate Allie and Noah’s love story only amplified the movie’s expectation.

Park Sooyoung was dubbed the nation’s sweetheart after her successful transition from a pure and innocent, child actor to an alluring, mature actress. The public was charmed by her soft facial features and her kind heart. Sooyoung was known for her generous donations and her willingness to volunteer for charities. The critics loved her; they were blown away by her portrayal of different characters whom varied from a rebellious teenager to a spoilt chaebol. How Sooyoung was able to convey her character’s innermost feelings pulled the heartstrings of the audience; if she were to shed a tear, the audience would cry with her. Her fans had nicknamed her Joy, as they would always feel a sense of joy when they watched her act. Sooyoung would always try to live up to her nickname and avoid any controversies and scandals, hence why she still has not had a dating rumour before.

Jeon Jungkook received mixed reviews when he first began acting, with the reputation of being an idol-actor following him for many years. After four years into his debut as an idol, Jungkook was offered a main role in a sageuk drama. This received quite a negative reaction from the public, as they believed that he did not deserve the role. The netizens had first described him as South Korea’s heart throb after his role as the second male lead in a teenage romance movie. It was known to the public that Jungkook had an on-and-off relationship with fellow idol, Kim Yerim, spanning over the past few years.

The addition of Kim Taehyung undertaking the role of Lon, Noah’s rival, garnered more attention to the incredible line-up of young adult actors. Kim Taehyung was already a renowned fashion model when he delved into the world of acting. After his first minor role in a web drama as a bad boy, he was always type casted as the “bad boy”, and hence how that became his nickname and identifier. Taehyung knew that the public would deeply scrutinise his portrayal of Lon, nonetheless he still wanted to broaden his acting portfolio and assume different roles. Due to his bad boy image, Taehyung was always speculated to be a playboy but there was never any evidence to support these claims. His private life still remains as a mystery to the netizens; much to his liking.

It had been a gruelling day of filming; with the heat pounding down on everyone, the atmosphere on set was suffocating. Sooyoung and Jungkook had clashed ever since they had first met on set, flinging insults at each other. Their strained relationship only became more heightened due to the director’s criticisms and pressure. They had left the set in silence, glaring at each other. Once out of ear shot, in the confines of Sooyoung’s trailer, their shouting match began.

“Jerk.”

“Goody-two shoes.”

“Douchebag.”

“Spoilt brat.”

Their back and forth continued as they walked closer towards each other, the tension growing and the distance between them decreasing, until they were face to face. Sooyoung suddenly aware of their close proximity, stuttered before she threw her next insult.

“A-.”

Jungkook could feel her breath on his face and was left drowning in her doe-like eyes.

“Princess”, he retaliated with a cocky smirk on his face, watching her face as she reacted to his taunt. Sooyoung was fed up with their quarrel and drained from the long day; feeling uncomfortable with their current situation, she turned her body to leave. Jungkook grabbing her arm pulling Sooyoung back towards him.

“Where do you think you’re going?” Jungkook questioned before raising his hands to caress her face. Sooyoung was left speechless by his sudden affectionate touch and flinched under his intense gaze. Not being able to withstand the growing tension between them, Jungkook brought Sooyoung’s face towards his; Sooyoung let out the breath she didn’t realise she was holding.

Their innocent peck gradually developed into a full-blown make out session. Jungkook grabbed Sooyoung’s legs to wrap them around his waist, as he walked them closer towards her bed. Blinded by lust, there was no time for second thoughts as Sooyoung landed on the bed, Jungkook falling on top of her. They had succumbed to the undeniable between them and participated in a night full of passion.

“This wasn’t supposed to happen”, Sooyoung thought to herself as she woke up with an arm encircled around her waist. Trying to recollect the memories from the previous night, Sooyoung attempted to remove Jungkook's arm from around her. Her actions only caused Jungkook to hug her closer to him, with her body pushed up against his and his face in her hair.

“Just five more minutes”, Jungkook murmured into her hair; inhaling the scent of her cocoa butter shampoo. Sooyoung couldn’t help but feel warm and protected in his arms, when a wave of guilt suddenly washed over her. Sooyoung was quite busy and did not have the time to keep updated with the news, however her friends were always sure to keep her in the loop of any celebrity gossip. The last that she had heard of in regards to Jungkook and Yeri’s relationship was that they were currently “on”. Sooyoung’s body stiffened in Jungkook’s embrace when the realisation that she could be a homewrecker hit her. Sooyoung suddenly sat up and grabbed the sheets closer to her body as she tried to move away from Jungkook.

“You need to leave now.”, Sooyoung stated with bewilderment as she faced Jungkook.

“But why? Are you saying that you didn’t enjoy last night?”, Jungkook responded with his signature smirk on his face as he slowly crawled towards Sooyoung.

“T-t-that’s besides the point!”, Sooyoung stuttered, feeling nervous under Jungkook’s stare. “You’re dating Yeri! This.. this was a mistake, it never should have happened. Oh no, I’ve ruined your relationship, I’m a homewrecker! We need to keep this a secret, no one needs to know.”

Jungkook thought that Sooyoung’s non-stop babbling was quite cute, however it was getting out of hand, so Jungkook silenced Sooyoung with a kiss. The kiss was effective, as Sooyoung was now just confusedly staring at Jungkook.

“Whoa, chill. Yeri and I aren’t together anymore.” Jungkook reassuringly told Sooyoung as he delicately held her face in his hands as though she could break under the slightest amount of pressure. “Besides, I would have never regretted last night.”

Sooyoung blushing at Jungkook’s confession, she shook her head out of his grasp. “Likewise to you too, but I think we should get ready for the day now.” Although agreeing with Sooyoung, Jungkook reluctantly released her from his embrace as he searched for his clothes.

“This is when I must bid you adieu, princess, but I would love to do this again. See you on set.” Jungkook said teasingly to Sooyoung with a wink as he exited her room. After Jungkook left, Sooyoung stayed in bed for a few minutes, contemplating his invitation to continue their activities. Sooyoung was weighing the pros and cons of their secret liaison as she got ready for another long day of filming.

Their bickering continued throughout the day, as though nothing had happened. Jungkook continuously glanced at Sooyoung when he thought she wasn’t looking, whilst Sooyoung tried to ignore the extra attention that Jungkook was giving her. Throughout the breaks, that they shared, Jungkook would subtly flirt with Sooyoung, she would retaliate to his advances with small smiles. This new back and forth between them continued on for days, after constantly whispering sweet nothings into her ears daily, Sooyoung finally caved. It was another gruellingly tough day, that ended with Jungkook in Sooyoung’s bed, this time with neither feeling any remorse or regret.
