t/w: (slight?) violence, mention of blood

The early morning train ride to Busan was something Taehyung’s mother couldn’t understand; thankfully she had taken a liking to Hoseok and did not throw too much of a tantrum over it. And so the three of them had taken the first train from Seoul to Busan, one that would reach at ten in the morning.

Most of the train ride was spent with naps and sleepy mumbling; Hoseok was obviously tired after working double time the day before, and Taehyung felt bad every time Hoseok nodded off, before he shook his head, in an attempt to stay awake.

“Hyung, why don’t you nap on my shoulder until we get to Busan?” Taehyung offered, and Hoseok, who found it in him not able to refuse, slowly nodded, thanking Taehyung profusely as he rested his head on his shoulder.

Jimin noticed the exchange, a smile on his lips. He had noticed their fast-growing relationship, and because it was Hoseok, he did not complain. Surely, there could be no one more perfect for Taehyung.

The twenty-five year old was full of surprises, having a very youthful personality to match Taehyung’s more often than not, eccentric behaviour that was starting to show once more. Hoseok also could become the more mature one if he had to, supporting Taehyung whenever he needed it and unconditionally.

Ultimately, he knew that they would be together, and honestly Jimin would not be surprised if it happened soon. Though the two boys did not know each other for very long, they got along so well, and Taehyung had obviously fallen for Jung Hoseok so hard. Jimin's memories were fogged, with bits in between missing attributing to that, but one of the things he could clearly remember now was just how bad Taehyung suffered from his depressive moods, his anxiety that no one else understood but him.

He's in good hands, Jimin chuckled as Taehyung's head fell atop Hoseok's as they both were now asleep peacefully.

Just date already, you love each other so much it's almost disgusting. Jimin joked inwardly, before he settled back into the sofa, watching the landscape move past the train in a blur, his heart drumming against his chest excitedly.

He did not remember anything about Busan. He only knew it was his hometown, where his parents were from, where he was from. Though he remembered a lot of living in Seoul, he did not recollect anything to do with his grandparents, or the farm Taehyung said they had.

He was excited...

They soon reached the train station at Busan, and the three of them sleepily hobbled off the train, as Taehyung took out his phone. "I asked your mother for the address. I told her that since I was coming to Busan with a friend, I would visit your grandmother too."

Jimin nodded, smiling slowly. Now that he had set foot on ground, the air around felt different, connected to his origins and roots, all that was around him was something that had shaped and moulded his culture, and also shaped and moulded by his culture.

He was home.

"I think..." Jimin chuckled suddenly. "I remember we used to have hotteok* whenever we left the train station. It used to be a speciality of an ahjumma who used to sell it near the railway station."
"Oh, I love those!" Hoseok gasped. "Taehyung, if you like them too, we can look for this ahjumma and pick some up."
"I haven't had one since Jimin treated me to some when we were younger. When I first came to Busan, that was the first thing I got fed." Taehyung laughed nervously. Jimin's eyes widened, as did Hoseok's, as they both exclaimed, "Huh?!" at the younger boy.

"Guys-" Taehyung turned pink, starting to wish he had lied about the hotteok to spare himself from this embarrassment. Hoseok grabbed his wrist, ignoring Taehyung's protests as him and Jimin faithfully hunted for a hotteok stand, and they found one soon.

"This is the one..." Jimin said quietly as he stopped, watching the old lady, now accompanied by a younger man (was he her grandson?). The both of them diligently flipped over their pancakes, whilst cheerfully chatting to the people that were waiting patiently for their snacks. Hoseok looked at Jimin, and then walked over with Taehyung to the stall, the sweet smell of the pancakes entering their nostrils and making them both smack their lips with delight (Taehyung would have drooled all over his shirt if it hadn’t been for Hoseok telling him to stop gaping).

“Hello, ma’am,” As soon as most of the crowd dispersed, Hoseok bowed his head, smiling slowly. “A good friend of mine back in Seoul told me some good things about your hotteok.”

The older woman flushed with pleasure, as she gestured at her son to make more of the delicacy as fast as he could. “Yes, I make the best pancakes around!” She grinned enthusiastically, as she brought one out in a paper bag and held it out to Hoseok, who took it with a thankful grin. “Careful, it’s hot!”
“Taehyung-ah, come here.” Hoseok edged closer, putting an arm around him as he held the hotteok to Taehyung’s lips.

“Say ‘ah’, Sunshine.”

Taehyung didn’t know what to be more embarrassed about; the nickname or the gesture, but he opened his mouth anyway, taking a small bite of the pancake.

“Ah, you only bit the flour, Tae.” Hoseok laughed, gently ruffling the younger’s hair. “Come on, eat some more. Get the flavour on your tongue.”

Taehyung turned pink as he bit into the hotteok more, allowing the honey and sugar mixture to melt on his tongue as he chewed onto the pancake. His eyes lit up, his hands prising the food from Hoseok’s hands as he munched into it more, a wide grin on his face. Both the vendor and Hoseok laughed, as Hoseok asked for a few more to have on the way to their destination.

Soon, the three reached a secluded path, where Hoseok held the remaining hotteok out for Jimin to eat. The angel pounced on them with an excited shout, and he was soon sat on the ground, refusing to take another single step until he had finished eating. Hoseok huffed, leaning against the wall as he frustratedly ran his fingers through his hair. Taehyung chuckled as he stood next to Hoseok, looking at the sky above, clear and blue that day.

His mind wandered. Taehyung’s life had taken a turn, and seemingly for the better, since Jimin came back into his life. He was able to handle his depression better, and anxiety seemed like to be something that was reaching back into his control once more, with the help of the people around him. One day, Jimin would have to go back. And while the thought worried him, and what he’d do or how he’d cope after his best friend’s departure from his life would begin to haunt him once more.

That’s when he looked at the person next to him, who was glancing at him with a small smile on his face, his lips parted and brows raised as he chuckled sleepily.

Hoseok. Of course, whether or not they would ever get together in that sense was still a mystery at this point, but there was the fact that they were soul-bound, and therefore would always remain connected. But more than this spiritual connection, Hoseok and Taehyung had something that even perhaps Jimin could not explain. Or at least, that was what Taehyung felt, every time he was with Hoseok. The older male was joyous, someone that Taehyung was start to love being around, and someone that was having such a strong influence on him that he could not do without seeing Hoseok everyday, or else he would feel detached from himself.

Hoseok was his sunshine, even though he called Taehyung his.

Their relationship; it could not be just a mere friendship because this always felt so much more deeper than that, even if Taehyung had only known Hoseok for a few days, he could still feel it inside that Hoseok was someone that was already very important to him. Taehyung had never felt such an attachment to a person before; this was something truly special, truly heartwarming, something he couldn’t explain.

Hoseok had started a fire inside him, something that burned for life, that burned to live. Hoseok was his fire. Hoseok was his hope.

Without even realising it, Hoseok had taken his hand in his, their fingers entwining seamlessly, fitting perfectly in each other’s palms. Taehyung glanced at their hands joined, before he looked down at Hoseok with a confused pout.

“You look very deep in thought, Sunshine. What’s crossed your mind?”

Taehyung simply grinned, as he squeezed Hoseok’s hand and nodded up at the sky. “Well, hyung, let’s just say I’m feeling very thankful for a lot of things.”
"Mind telling me what things?" Hoseok asked cueiously. Taehyung turned pink, flustered as he tried to come up with the words that would express his feelings. He finally managed to say one thing that could help express his thoughts best, "I'm so glad we met..."

Hoseok grinned widely, and leaned in to gently brush his lips against Taehyung's cheek, ghosting a kiss on his soft skin. Taehyung gasped, turning even more red as he looked away, his heart almost hammering in his chest and he was so scared Hoseok could hear it.

"Guys, get a room, gosh." Jimin stood up, pretending to be disgusted at their intimacy; Taehyung immediately let go of Hoseok's hand, before he walked off, taking hurried steps as he walked towards the road.

"Let's go! We can't waste time, I'm sure Jimin's mother must have told his grandmother she's expecting us."

Hoseok and Jimin exchanged stifled laughter, as they both jogged after Taehyung.

The closer and closer they got to their destination, though, Jimin broke into a sweat, his hands clammy and his throat feeling dry. Why was he so nervous now?

"Guys-" Jimin stopped, looking down at his worn-out sneakers. Taehyung and Hoseok stopped, looking back at the angel in surprise; he was tugging at the sleeve of his jumper, an unexpectedly startled look on his face.

"Hey, Jimin." Taehyung put an arm on Jimin's shoulder, making the angel look up at him with a frown. Taehyung gave him a kind smile, before ruffling his hair. “I promise you. It will be nothing but nice. Okay?”

Jimin of course trusted his friend, as he gave them both a small smile. Taehyung lead the way, knowing they were getting closer, while Hoseok stayed behind with Jimin to provide reassurance.

And soon, they reached the outskirts of one end of the town, where there was a brown cottage further out into a golden field of wheat. Taehyung blinked; the place was exactly as had seen in the dream, and that only seemed to unsettle his insides more as they churned uneasily.

"This is it." The three boys walked to the cottage, hearts thumping in their chests as they walked closer and closer. Jimin gulped, excitement and nerves consuming him as he kept trying to walk faster, only to have Hoseok hold him back by his shirt with a laugh, asking him to relax and go slowly.

But once they got there, even Hoseok was starting to feel jittery, as did the rest of the boys, who looked at it apprehensively.

"T-Taehyung-?" Hoseok murmured as he approached the cottage slowly, before grabbing his arm. "No, I have a bad feeling..."
"What is this... it's so weird, it's like-" Jimin murmured, as he bravely walked past the two humans and towards the cottage. It was inexplicable, the feeling of worry, dread, the heavily negative aura that was emitting from this house alone. It was especially worrying for Jimin if Taehyung and Hoseok could sense that something was off.

Jimin was especially worried, because he had a bad feeling about who it was. Surely, there was no way that he could have seen into Taehyung's dream?

Or was Taehyung's dream a vision of caution... perhaps death?

They slowly reached the door, Jimin leading to the wooden entrance. He was holding his breath. There was a very bad feeling he felt, and it was strong enough for Taehyung to whisper, "This doesn't seem safe, let's go back."
"We need to make sure Jimin's grandmother is alright..." Hoseok whispered, as the angel's hand held the door handle, and he pushed it down. The door opened without resistance, left unlocked and that worried Jimin.

"What..." Taehyung gasped as they walked inside the house.

"Jimin-ah, come here! The kimbap is ready!"

Jimin shouted excitedly as he ran to the kitchen, his hands clapping with joy as he sat at the small table in the kitchen, where his grandmother was waiting for him with lemonade and the freshly prepared kimbap. He sat down on his favourite seat, thanking his grandmother profusely for making him a meal.

"Wow, this is amazing, grandma!"

There was nothing better than some delicious kimbap, along with cold lemonade to beat the summer heat. Jimin's grandmother laughed at her five-year-old grandson, before looking out the window.

Once they were done eating, she cleared , looking at him with a small smile. "Oh, Jimin, it's sunny and bright! Shall we go to the small stream nearby and try and catch some fish? Maybe you can keep one as a pet!"
"Yeah, grandma!" Jimin immediately streaked out of the room to grab his hook and rod, wellingtons and mackintosh, as he shouted "I want to catch a goldfish!"

Later that night, Jimin was tucked in bed, his eyes on the goldfish in an oval bowl that was set on top of his grandmother's bookshelf. He put his head on her arm as he peered over at the story book in her hand, looking at the illustrations with interest.

"And the soldier soon was back home, reunited with his wife and daughter once more. The end. Now, how was that?"

Jimin, she noticed, was quiet, as he held his teddy bear close to his chest, a frown resting on his little face. She gently patted his head, looking at him with soft eyes. "What's wrong, Jimin-ah?"

The young boy looked up at her with sad eyes, as he whispered, "Grandma, why didn't grandpa come back from the war a few years ago?"

Jimin's grandmother smiled sadly, as she said quietly said, "Well, sometimes, when people go to war, Jimin, they won't come back."

Jimin was quiet for a while, as he processed her words. "Grandma, Mom said Grandpa is up with the stars."

She slowly nodded, with a sad smile on her face. "Yes, he is. God is taking very good care of him now."

"Halmeoni-" Jimin gasped out as more memories flashed before his eyes, before he ran inside, towards the living room where his grandmother used to sit on a large one-seater sofa, always knitting new scarves and hats for her grandson.

"Oh no, why do I have a bad feeling-" Taehyung rushed after him, followed closely by Hoseok, They dashed past the piano, and into the living room, where they stopped.

Jimin’s heart thumped in his chest, as he looked at the old woman sitting in her chair, her eyes closed and her palms crossed on her lap, and she looked so peaceful, like she was sleeping.

Walking towards his grandmother tentatively, he knelt down next to her, his eyes filled with tears as his hands touched hers. Taehyung knew, from the way Jimin’s face fell forward and his body shivered with his cries that today was the day she had taken her last breath.

Hoseok felt someone move to the side, and he looked towards the black haired figure, who was approaching them with a slow gait. The man instantly stood in front of Taehyung defensively, glaring at the black haired man as he held his arms out.

“Who are you?” He snarled, surprising Taehyung for he didn’t think Hoseok could get this defensive. He glanced at the black haired man, his heart dropping in his chest as Yoongi looked at them with cruel, glowing red eyes. Jimin stood up slowly, his eyes turning crimson as he growled defensively.

“Does it matter?” Yoongi rolled his eyes, as his wings spread out, and he glared at the three men in front of him. “I’m just here for you, Park Jimin. I’ll do away with these two jokers if I have to, just like I did away with your grandmother.”

Jimin’s wings unfolded angrily, and he lunged at Yoongi with a shout; both demon and angel were not expecting the sudden action, as Yoongi and Jimin flew through the walls. Taehyung gasped, rushing past Hoseok and outside the house, as he looked at the sky anxiously.

Jimin had already packed a punch to Yoongi’s jaw, making the demon scream in pain before he kicked back at the angel in the gut, sending him flying backwards. Jimin rapidly flapped his wings to stop himself from crashing into a tree, and immediately streaked towards Yoongi, who managed to dodge the attack easily.

“Run!” Jimin shouted at the two men on the ground. “Get to safety, I’ll deal with this!”

Taehyung nodded, as the both of them made a break for the golden wheat farm, which were now so tall and overgrown that the two could get by undetected if need be.

“What does he want?!” Hoseok shouted as they ran through the golden grass; Taehyung shouted back breathlessly, “That’s the demon that wants Jimin.”
“Will Jimin be okay? We should go back-” Taehyung stopped suddenly, as he knelt down, motioning for Hoseok to repeat the gesture.

“I don’t know, if Jimin’s going to be okay, but I’m not just going to escape either. We came here for something, I need to make sure Jimin gets that memory from the tree he planted, I need to make sure you both don’t die either-”

Taehyung said shakily, his eyes were filled with tears. Hoseok sighed, as he slowly nodded. “Okay, Taehyung. Let’s get to the tree, and see if we can get Jimin to remember.”

Hoseok made to stand up, but Taehyung wasn’t done. His hand moved to the nape of Hoseok’s neck, and quickly pulled him down, their lips meeting in a forced kiss that caused Hoseok to freeze with shock.

“If we get through this, make me regret doing that, hyung.” Taehyung smiled slowly, his eyes filled with determination. Hoseok smirked back, nodding as they stood up. “It’s a date, Kim Taehyung.”

The two boys began running towards the tree with newfound hope, trying to ignore the loud shriek from Yoongi that sent shivers down their spines.

“Come on!” Taehyung shouted, as they suddenly appeared in a clearing; exactly the same as Taehyung had seen in his dream. He stopped in his tracks, looking at the large mango tree with glossy eyes. Hoseok looked at the fruitless tree with pained eyes, before glancing at Taehyung. “This is the one… isn’t it?”

Taehyung slowly nodded, but the moment he took a step towards it, things started to happen.

He felt a hand grab the back of his neck, and he was suddenly pushed to the tree roughly, the side of his face colliding with the bark painfully as he let out a scream. Taehyung nervously glanced back, his heart racing in his chest as Yoongi brought himself uncomfortably closer to Taehyung’s face.

“You little brat, you thought I’d just stand here and let you off alive?”
“Let me go!” Taehyung struggled, letting out a pained sound when Yoongi’s grip tightened on his neck unpleasantly.

“Sorry, Taehyung. You’ve seen too much of me now.” In the corner of his eyes he could see Yoongi’s wings unfold threateningly, and tears burned his eyes as he struggled for escape, for his life.

“No!” Hoseok screamed, as Yoongi’s wing shot towards Taehyung. Taehyung screwed his eyes shut, as he waited for the searing pain to shoot through his body and the pain to take over.

But it never came.

“Jimin-!” Hoseok’s shocked voice reached his ear, and Taehyung opened his eyes, his heart stopping in his chest.

Jimin was stood in front of him, the black wing pierced through his left shoulder and torso, only just missing his heart. Blood was soaked up by his white shirt, as Jimin panted, his eyes bright red and furious.

“Don’t you ing dare.” Jimin snarled, as his hand suddenly shot up, and immediately smacked down on Yoongi’s arm and grabbing it tightly. Yoongi screamed as his arm began to sizzle and smoke up, and he let go of Taehyung as he was consumed with pain.

“Son of a-” Yoongi raised his good arm to punch Jimin, but the angel lunged forward, using his body to push Yoongi away from Taehyung and the tree.

Taehyung fell to the foot of the tree, limply. Hoseok rushed over, turning Taehyung over so that his back was against the tree, trying to shake him back into his sense.

“Hyung, we- we gotta go-” Taehyung said suddenly, as he sat up, looking at Hoseok in shock. “We need to get away now, Jimin told me to leave-”
“Yeah, I heard him in my head. Get up, let’s get somewhere safe.” Hoseok pulled the younger male to his feet, his heart aching when he saw Taehyung’s face, the right side all scratched up and he had a bruised lip as well. The two humans rushed through the wheat, towards the growing sound of cars and civilisation where they knew they would be safe in crowded places.

Taehyung and Hoseok soon reached the main road, panting and out of breath, so shaken that Taehyung fell to his knees, gasping for oxygen. They were okay, for now. But they knew that they weren’t completely safe, and Hoseok didn’t know how he would get the tired, beat-up boy to safety without making him walk a lot.

As if God had arranged for the miracle himself, a motorcycle pulled over, the engine purring as it came to a stop.

“Jungkook-?” Hoseok blinked; Taehyung looked up at the black-clothed male with red-brown hair, who had taken his shades off and was looking at Hoseok curiously.

“I thought it was you, hyung… you and your friend look really beat, what the happened?”

Hoseok thought quickly, and decided what he must do in order to protect Taehyung and Jimin. Helping Taehyung to his feet, he looked at the biker pleadingly. “Jungkook. Take him back to your hideout, he can’t stay here a minute longer. Please, this is a matter of life and death!”
“N-No! Hyung, what about you?!” Taehyung gasped, trying to rush back to Hoseok. The older male shook his head, gently pushing him back towards Jungkook.

“Taehyung. Go with Jungkook, he’ll take you somewhere safe. I’ll come back with Jimin, okay? Taehyung- please.” Hoseok said strongly, when Taehyung began to protest again. The younger man blinked at the authority in his voice, realising there was no changing his decision. He nodded slowly, letting go of Hoseok.

“You’d better get back.” Hoseok nodded, a small smile on his face as Taehyung climbed on the bike with Jungkook, who too, added, “Taehyung’s right. You’d better ing get back, or else I’ll haunt your ghost.”

Hoseok nodded in farewell, as the motorcycle sped off, taking Taehyung far away from the reach of the demon. Rushing back to the clearing, Hoseok saw that the angel and demon were engaged in a fight to the death, if that was even possible. Jimin’s clothes and white wings were bloody, and he was obviously starting to weaken, his movements slower and he was only just missing Yoongi’s constant attacks towards him.

“Tsch, just ing lose already!” Yoongi snapped, grabbing Jimin’s neck and shooting him down to the ground, the impact creating a dent in the ground as Jimin let out a pained groan, his muscles shaking from shock and he looked at Yoongi, groaning out in pain.

“Oh, Jimin. Still a weakling.” Yoongi snickered, as he touched the wound his wing had made. Jimin thrashed under him at the gesture, screaming in agony as he tried to loosen the grip on his neck, which was suffocating.

“I wish I could kill you but you’re already dead.” Yoongi sneered, his free hand reaching up to fix his messy hair. “But I guess you’ll never learn about your past now, isn’t that a shame?”
“Hey, demon, think twice before you say .”

Yoongi looked up at the voice, his eyes widening as he looked at Hoseok, who was standing right in front of him. Hoseok roughly pushed Yoongi, but something unexpected happened.

The demon let out a painful shout, as he flew back, roaring at Hoseok. “Curse you! How could you, a mere human, hurt me so?!”

Jimin took this chance to leap to his feet and punch Yoongi in the face, hard enough to floor the demon. With a growl, Yoongi looked up at the angel, who was looking down at him with a fire in his eyes, his wings spread out in front of Hoseok defensively.

“This time… You win this time.” Yoongi spat out blood, as he glared at Jimin. “Good luck protecting Taehyung, ‘guardian angel’. It won’t be long before I get my hands on him too.”

Jimin and Hoseok stared at him in shock when they realised Yoongi knew that bit of crucial information, and watched with horror as the demon flew away, defeated yet dangerous, a formidable foe even more so now.

“A-Ah!” Jimin collapsed, writhing in pain as his grabbed his shoulder, his mouth hanging open in a silent scream. Hoseok fell to his knees, holding Jimin’s head in his lap as he gasped, looking at the deep gash Yoongi’s wing had left in his shoulder.

“Hoseok, how did you-” Hoseok looked at Jimin, before he pulled out his rosary from his neck; the first time Jimin had ever seen it. He slowly smiled, gripping the cross in his fist tightly.

“I'm not very religious, but I was baptised as a child.”

Jimin blinked, before he chuckled weakly. “I wouldn't have known. I’m not a full angel, I sometimes can’t tell if someone’s been blessed, or-”
“Don’t strain yourself. Now you know that Yoongi can’t touch me.” Jimin laughed slowly, but stopped when he saw that his vision was turning white and splotchy, and he gasped.

“H-Hoseok- leave, you can’t be here.”
“No. I’m not leaving you. Let’s get somewhere safe, okay?”

Jimin tried to warn Hoseok of what was happening, but it was too late. There was a small glow around Jimin, and Hoseok gasped, starting to worry about what was happening to the angel. He grabbed Jimin’s hand, asking if he had to do anything to help him.

The angel looked at him, a sad smile on his face as he murmured, “I'm really sorry about this, Hoseok hyung...”

Hoseok looked at Jimin worriedly, before his eyes widened as he noticed the wound on Jimin’s shoulder heal at a rapid pace, the gash closing up on its own, not even a trace of a scratch or a scar left on his skin once it had healed completely.

“W-Wow-” Hoseok mumbled. “H-How did that-”

Hoseok felt weak, his head beginning to spin and his breathing heavy. His vision began to blur slowly and he couldn’t see around him properly, a weight growing on his head and sending him into the now-seated Jimin’s arms.

“J-Jimin- I’m weak.” Hoseok said hoarsely, his chest still struggling to gasp for breath. Jimin sighed, as he put his hand in front of Hoseok’s eyes, shaking his head slowly.

“Jimin, what’s happening, I can’t feel anything-” The older male said uneasily. Jimin gulped, closing his eyes as he shakily murmured, “I’m sorry, Hoseok. I’m so sorry.”

And in his arms, Hoseok turned completely still.
