Minkyung knows the world isn't fair.

It definitely isn't, because how would she, of all people in the entire world - hell, the entire universe, deserve to lay beside someone as beautiful as Jieqiong? Jieqiong, who is so beautiful that Minkyung can't bear to look at her. She doesn't even deserve to do that. What is she doing here, in Jieqiong's apartment, on her bed? She should've been back at the club by now, drinking and wasting away at the bar, or maybe at some cheap hotel, undressing a woman whose name she'll never learn. Minkyung knows she shouldn't be anywhere near Jieqiong.

None of it makes sense.

"I'm a horrible person."

Jieqiong pulls away the arm Minkyung was using to cover her eyes. She keeps them closed. "I forgive you."

"Of course you do." Minkyung mutters, rolling onto her side to directly face the other woman. She still keeps her eyes closed, that is until she feels Jieqiong's thumbs gently brushing against her cheeks. She makes the mistake of allowing her eyes to open, one mistake out of too many. How could Jieqiong be smiling at a time like this? Only she could. Smiling through her tears, how ridiculous. Minkyung thought her own tears would've stopped by now, but the sight of Jieqiong alone seems to start them up all over again. She squeezes her eyes shut, but she could still see her somehow. Like an image burned into the back of her eyelids, an image that could outlast a picture. "Goodness Jieqiong, do you ever stop smiling?"

"I'm pretty sure I wasn't smiling earlier." Minkyung scowls at this, but Jieqiong wipes it away, along with the remnants of her tears. "I don't understand why you're crying more than I am. Your make-up is getting ruined."

"Do you think I care about that right now? I'm not leaving anyway. Just leave me alone and let me feel guilty, even if it doesn't make me less horrible of a person." Jieqiong doesn't respond, so Minkyung cracks an eye open to peer at the woman quietly staring at her. She could practically see the love pouring out from Jieqiong's gaze, an affection so pure and vulnerable that Minkyung could only sigh. Jieqiong is unbreakable, even in the face of a storm. Minkyung can't tell if it's a blessing or a curse, admirable or stupid. "Why are you like this? How could you possibly love someone like me?"

Minkyung could hear the frown in Jieqiong's voice as she replies, "I wish you hadn't said that. I'd never want you to feel that way."

"You don't know everything I've done. You have no idea."

"And you've called me dramatic..."

Minkyung huffs in annoyance, shifting in the bed and turning her back onto Jieqiong. "You ask me all these questions, but when I actually try to give you a proper answer, you don't listen to me."

Jieqiong props her head up on an elbow and stares at Minkyung's back. "Go on, then. I'm listening."

"You and I... We are completely different people. Too different. It's obvious that it's not going to work out between us. And besides that, there's no point to being in love in the first place. It's pointless." It sounded a lot better in her head. That's where these thoughts had always belonged, where Minkyung had carefully tended to them. They were never meant to be said aloud. They existed solely for her
