TRUE LOVE 01.
A MATCH MADE FROM HEAVEN // MATCHES SET. BEST OF LUCK ~✕
Ever since her beloved roommate and best friend moved to South Korea, she's always looked forward to the far and few visits she's made back home. And this week was one of those weeks where she was very excited and bouncing alongside her famous best friend, none other than Heaven Boo, the world wide match maker. Who was now a part time wedding planner, it seems like. Luckily for Heaven, she was a wedding planner and was getting big bucks thanks to her.
"Oooooooh look at this one!!!" Steph shouted, prancing around St Mary's Cathedral that was in the beautiful capital of Sydney.
Heaven flushed before pulling Steph's blouse back, "Why did I bring you along?" She hissed, glaring at her best friend. Steph grinned.
"Because you love me!!" Her loud voice resounded through the open cathedral, causing several other patreons to lookover in confusion or disdain towards the three.
"And you're not using your indoor voice again, love." Heaven reminded, causing Steph to blush a bit and shrug.
"My bad."
Heaven was in Australia for a mix of business and pleasure, she was helping plan a wedding between Ashley and Hanbyul, her first official customers through her website, and the key to getting her loan. Steph was brought in for her expertise in weddings in Australia, and because she'd had a lot of access to Heaven when the others didn't. She was pretty much the perfect wedding planner for this event.
However, looking over at the bride-to-be, she shrugged while staring at her phone. "It's nice."
"Nice??? That's all???" Steph burst, but a glare from Heaven made her stop. "I mean, what do you think Hanbyul would think?"
Yes, the two were stuck with only one-half of the to-be couple, Hanbyul was currently MIA and no one could reach him. With wedding venues, Steph preferred both the bride and groom to be were present -- they both needed to be happy on their special day, after all -- but Hanbyul seemed as elusive as ever.
"Well, let me tell you about the history of the St Mary's Cathedral and the importance of location in a wedding ceremony --" She began, going off on a tangent about weddings. Both she and Heaven loved weddings, but stayed away from relationships in general.
Ashley didn't even glance up from her phone, "Cool." She said, typing away on her phone.
Heaven looked about ready to go off, but Steph knew she wouldn't. When it came to business, Heaven rarely lost her cool. "Miss Ashley?"
Ashley finally tore her eyes away from her phone, raising an eyebrow at Heaven. "Yes, Miss Boo?"
"What do you think of this venue?" Heaven asked through her teeth, faking the brightest smile all the while.
"If you like it, then it's fine." Ashley went back to her phone, barely even looking at the cathedral they were in before speaking.
"Are you sure?" Heaven tried once more, and again Ashley tore her eyes away from her phone, actually looking around the venue.
"Is it near water?"
Taken aback from the actual question coming from Ashley, Steph stuttered over her answer, "N-no, it's not. This is in more towards the inner city of Sydney --"
"Then nevermind." Ashley said, her voice never changing from the dreadful monotone she had.
"You like the beach?" Heaven seemed shocked by the new information. Ashley rolled her eyes. "No. But Hanbyul spends all his time out there. He might actually show up if it's by or on the water."
Finally, they were getting somewhere. Heaven turned to Steph. "Got anything?"
"Oh yeah, I know just the places for the ceremony and the reception!"
It took a flight back to Brisbane, but almost three hours later, the three were standing in St Mary's Anglican Church. It was smaller than the St Mary's in Sydney, but had a view of the water. "And for the reception, the Courthouse Resturant is gorgeous and right on the water as well..." Steph walked around the church. Seeing as Ashley was of higher class, she should know the Courthouse. It was highly reverred for its food and beautiful ocean view.
Ashley didn't even look up from her phone again, but nodded once and that's all Heaven needed. "Book it!" Her best friend ordered, and before you knew it, Steph and the coordinator of the church were discussing possible dates.
"Doesn't matter when, I still don't have a dress yet so..." Ashley spoke up when asked about a specific time of year.
Steph made a small face before turning back to the older man, "So what date do you have in early summer next year?"
The date was set for next July, which gave them a little under a year to plan for the rest of wedding. Steph wasted no time calling the Courthouse, reserving the same date for the entire evening, which was a cinch once she mentioned the bride's name.
"So, nowthat we have both venues --" Heaven looked over, "What colors were you thinking for the wedding? it's in July so maybe --"
"Beige and white will do." Ashley said, and they both looked for a hint of a joke, but found that Ashley didn't even flinch when speaking. Steph had to hold herself back from gagging.
"Right...." Steph forced out, "Why don't you try and get ahold of Hanbyul before our next metting and discuss decorations and possible colors schemes so I can have both opinions."
"Okay. Thanks." And with that, she had her phone to her ear and calling a car. Heaven did the same, and a bit later Steph and Heaven were out on a friend date after the long day with Ashley Colling.
Heaven took a sip of her drink, "God, I can't believe I forgot how boring she was. Has Hanbyul really not shown up for any of the meetings either?"
Steph shook her head, "We've had almost three meetings, one every week this past month, and he's been at none of them. I don't even know what he looks like. His sister has been there. She and Ashley seem to get along really well."
"Yu-ji, right?" Heaven asked, getting a nod from Steph. "She's really pretty." Steph commented, making Heaven snicker.
"What??" Steph huffed, downing the rest of her drink before grabbing a fry from their shared plate.
"Nothing, you just sound like Amber when she's talking about Luna." Heaven teased. Steph rolled her eyes. "Please, Amber's such a sap when it comes to Luna, she'd be much more romantic than 'pretty'." She corrected, watching her friend laugh.
When Heaven's phone went off a few minutes later, Steph wasn't offended. Heaven was a CEO of a successful, world wide matchmaking service. It's only normal that she got phone calls at weird and random hours.
"Oh, are you really?" Heaven glanced over at Steph, "Oh yes. She'd definitely be interested. I'll send you the address later. Thank you!" She hung up, making Steph raise her eyebrow.
"Who was that?"
Heaven grinned, "My dearest Steph, what has been your greatest wish from me these past few years?"
"Move back to Australia?" Steph joked. Heaven rolled her eyes, "Not happening, not even on the table until Celeste can manage bills on herself."
Steph pouted. It was worth a shot. "You arranged us to get married for tax benefits?" It was another joke they had, but honestly, they'd probably get married if they were past their 30s and no significant other in sight. THey'd adopt a lot of dogs, cats, and maybe a few kids. Perfect in Steph's opinion, and she's all down for starting early.
"Nope, are either of us 35 yet?" Heaven laughed. "It can't come soon enough in my opinion~" Steph teased.
"Uhmmm..." Shoot, she really was all out of ideas of what her best friend could've managed to surprise her with.
"Oh my god," Heaven rolled her eyes, "I matched you, you idiot. Your match wants to come over tomorrow night."
Steph almost threw their table over in her excitement, "Did you really?!?! Oh my goooood, thank you?!?! I thought --" Of course she didn't consider that option, Heaven has rejected her app at least five times. All for the same reason: What do you want?
Steph didn't really know what she wanted in a relationship, so she kinda filled in random answers in order to get past the questionaire page. But no matter what she put, Heaven would always text her a week or so later, saying ,"Stop applying until you know what you want."
"So who are they???" Steph asked, eyes wide and eager. Heaven clicked her tongue. "Listen, I did this match because you both could use each other. I'm in charge of the entire thing, so you know jack squat until they come to your doorstep tomorrow evening at 7:30. Be ready and dress nice."
Steph may be a goofball, but she takes cooking pretty seriously. Since her match was coming over this evening, she figured why not make them dinner? She even got out that her match was usually on a stricter diet to keep their figure in tact, but they loved a good bottle of wine.
"I hope this is good enough..." She muttered to herself, putting the bottle of Jamsheed Shiraz 2013 on the table. It was an Australian staple wine, so she hoped that either her date liked it or hadn't tried it before.
Besides the diet, Steph literally knew next to nothing about her date. Heaven told her that she plotted with her sister to ensure the match would really work.
While Steph wasn't sure how Amber would know exactly what Steph wanted in a relationship, she none the less trust both her older sister and her best friend to set her up with someone that she'd at the very least get along with.
Dinner was done, and Steph glanced at the clock. 5:45. She had plenty of time to get ready for the date. Of course she wanted to look nice, she spent an hour earlier today picking out her date (and asking through Snapchat for advice from her sister, her fiancee, her brother and Heaven whether or not it was a good look) and therefore, everything else had to look nice.
Right at 7:35, she was finishing curling her hair when the doorbell rang. She really wished she had more time to redo the dye (currently it was a pink/purple ombre, but she was feeling the purple more at the moment) but there was no time to think of what she could've done.
"Coming!" She called to the door, hurrying out and adjusting her skirt in the mirror before getting to the door. Okay. Whoever was behind this door, people that she trusted picked out. They wouldn't set her up with someone out of her league or someone below her.
She took a deep breath before grabbing the door handle, opening it to reveal probably the most gorgeous woman she's ever seen? The woman said something, but she was too focused on her red mouth to say anything.
Hey, why was she suddenly staring at the ceiling? Her hands felt the plush fabric of her couch, and she sat up to see the gorgeous woman and Heaven sitting on the opposite love seat.
"Uh...what happened?" She asked, gaining the attention of both of the girls. Heaven looked thoroughly ruffled, sighing as she tried to fix her unruly, curly hair.
"You fainted, Rory here panicked and called me. What the hell, Steph?" Steph took another glance at the pretty lady named 'Rory' and blushed.
"I was not prepared for her." She admitted shamelessly, making Heaven groan and Rory giggle, covering up her laugh with her hand.
"You're cute." Rory said, and Steph felt her head spin again. She was most definitely not prepared for this.
"Heaven did she really call me cute or am I dreaming?"
Heaven let out a loud groan, "I'm leaving. You're fine, right?"
"Yes thank you for making sure I was not knocked dead by the beauty before me." Steph didn't know why she had no filter at the moment, but it seemed to charm Rory so she thought she shouldn't complain or ask questions.
"Okay byeeeeeee." Heaven was out the door in seconds, and before she could blink, Steph and Rory were left alone in the apartment.
It was quiet for a minute, with both of them taking the other in. Rory adjusted herself, tossing her curled hair over her shoulder, "So... First date with a girl?"
Steph thought about it. She could lie, but she'd rather just go the no filter route she'd been doing. It seemed to please her, anyways. "First date ever."
"Oh." Rory's eyebrows raised, "So you literally have no clue what you're into?"
"Yeah."
"Well....okay."
Oh god, Steph was panicking now. Rory was going to leave and never talk to her again because she was so inexperienced. Rory probably had plenty of experience and wanted someone who knew what they wanted --
"So we'll take it slow. Worst case, you're not really into girls and we'll be friends.... Though I doubt the first part." Rory winked, and Steph felt her heart go into overdrive.
"You sure?" of ocurse she had to make sure. Curse . "What if you want a serious relationship?"
"Oh please." Rory waved off her question, "I don't do serious relationships. I'm too busy and all over the world for that. So this will be perfectly fine until you're ready to move on."
Steph nodded, going over the proposition in her head. "Should I call you teacher or something then?"
Rory laughed. It was a lower octave and a little raspy on the end, but Steph couldn't help but think she'd never heard a more perfect laugh in her life. Steph might not know where this leads. but hell is she going to enjoy it because Rory was beautiful and well, it might kill her... But it'd totally be worth it in her book.
