~7.3K

It had been about two weeks now since Baekhyun had seen the visitor next door and it had been one week since they had waved to each other awkwardly through a window. Ever since then, Baekhyun had tried to avoid seeing the other because he just couldn't risk finding out that the other was unavailable and have his heart broken.

Yes, it was a bit quick to say that Baekhyun had fallen in love, but when the visitor was so tall, handsome and had a great face, he couldn't help but fall in love with at least his looks.

Baekhyun was simply lounging around in his living room since he had overworked himself by cleaning the kichen earlier that day, when he heard his doorbell ring. He made sure his knee brace was secure before he got up and went over to the door. Not thinking to look into the eye-hole to see who it was first, he simply opened it, "Yes~?" he answered before he froze as he looked up at the giant. What on earth is he doing here at my place?? he thought to himself.

"Oh, so you are alive," the taller chuckled.

Baekhyun quite nearly melted from the unexpectedly deep voice. "E-excuse me?" he couldn't help but say.

"I haven't seen you in your house in a week! I thought you had disappeared," the taller sheepishly chuckled.

Judging from the way the taller dressed, Baekhyun could tell that the other was quite well-off.

"Your name is Baekhyun right? My aunt told me that you live on your own and well, I thought I would visit," the taller grinned.

Baekhyun blinked a few times and then tilted his head slightly. "O-oh, you're Ms. Park's nephew... Um, what's your name?" he asked softly. He didn't think he'd be standing at the door for that amount of time and wondered if he should have just wheeled himself to the door instead as his leg was starting to get sore once more from his earlier cleaning activities.

"Oh right! Silly me, I'm Chanyeol... Are you okay there?" he asked.

"Huh?? Oh, yeah, I'm fine," he smiled. "Well, um, it was nice to meet you Chanyeol-ssi... you should probably, um, go back to your aunt," he said.

The taller furrowed his brows when the other seemed a bit rushed and then finally noticed the leg brace. "Was there anything you needed help with?" he asked abruptly.

Baekhyun was pretty confused but then looked away and shook his head, "No, I'm fine thanks. You should go. Have a nice day."

Chanyeol was suddenly faced with a door and sighed.

"Oh, you took your time Chanyeol," chuckled Ms. Park.

"Did Baekhyun hurt himself recently or something?" he asked as he took a seat at the dining table.

Ms. Park froze for a second and then shook her head, a sad smile upon her face. "No... the poor boy blew out his knee a couple years ago and ever since then he hasn't been the same. Physically, he can't be on his legs for too long and most of the time he's in a wheelchair, and he used to be such a bright young boy, but ever since then, he's been more of a shut-in," she explained as she placed some coffee in front of her nephew. "You are probably one of the only people he has spoken to for longer than two minutes in a long time," she added.

Chanyeol zoned out and thought about what he had just said to the other and groaned, falling forward and hitting his head on the table. "I'm so stupid," he groaned.

"Did you say something to the boy?" his aunt asked accusingly.

"Maybe? He probably hates me now," he groaned. He sat back up and then took a good drink of his coffee. "I'm gonna go and apologise right now."

Baekhyun sighed when he heard another ring of his doorbell and made sure his knee brace was secure enough before he went over to answer again. "Yes- Oh, hi, Chanyeol-ssi," he said.

"Hi, um, I'm really sorry about what I asked before... I wasn't thinking and didn't know and um... I'm really sorry if I made you feel bad," he said.

The smaller looked up to the other and then smiled. He was about to thank the other when he noticed that the other had coffee foam on top of his lip. He walked back inside, limping slightly as he always did. He grabbed a tissue and then came back, reaching up to wipe the other's mouth. "Thank you for the apology. I appreciate very much. Next time, check yourself before you come and apologise to someone. You might make them laugh instead," he giggled. He moved his hand away and then blushed a little when he noticed what he had just done.

There was a light tint of pink on Chanyeol's cheeks as well and they stood awkwardly at the door for a couple of moments.

"Did you wanna come inside?" asked Baekhyun. He stepped aside and ushered the other in before shutting the door and leading the other to his living room. They both sat down and Baekhyun let out a breath of relief. He smiled to the other and smiled. "Um, I don't think you're old or anything... but um, how old are you?" he asked.

"I'm 33, what about you?" he asked back.

"Oh... you look quite young," he smiled. "I'm 26," he answered and blushed slightly.

They sat there, somewhat awkwardly for a while before Chanyeol chuckled softly. "I'm sorry I came over so suddenly... I just... I'm only visiting my aunt since I'm actually on a month break from work. My colleagues forced me to take a break since apparently I work too much. And, it's nice to see someone who is closer to my age," he explained.

Baekhyun smiled to the older and then shook his head, "Are you bit of a workaholic?" he asked.

"Everyone around me thinks so," he chuckled. "Do you really just live alone here?"

The smaller nodded and then shrugged, "I don't mind it really. It's peaceful here and well, if I try to get around with a limp or in a wheelchair in the city, it would either be a nuisance to others or just dangerous for me."

Chanyeol nodded and understood where the other was coming from and blinked a few times, "Makes sense to me," he agreed. "You don't get lonely?" he asked softly.

"I do sometimes, but I don't really have enough people around me to make me feel lonely. It's just become like a way of living for me," he nodded.

"Do you work at all?" asked Chanyeol. He realised just what he was doing and stood up, suddenly bowing to the other and smacking his own forehead. "I'm sorry. You don't need to answer that. I'm going all interview mode all of a sudden... maybe I really am a workaholic..." he groaned as he sat back down.

Baekhyun looked at the other, rather confused before shaking his head, "It's fine really... I don't talk to many people anyway. This is probably the most I've talked in months to any one person," he smiled sheepishly. He played with his fingers a bit and then blushed slightly. "But as for work, I do some online jobs and some design jobs too. You know, things I don't have to really stand up to do," he nodded.

Chanyeol smiled to the younger and then shook his head a bit. "Um... what about.. your.."

"My parents? They're never around. I actually moved out from home in my second year of university since I wanted to get away from them," he said softly. "They do help me financially most of the time though," he nodded.

"I see... Um, my parents aren't really around either. They tend to travel most of the time," he nodded. He cleared his throat and then sat up a bit straighter. "So, do you have any other visitors other than myself or my aunt?" he asked.

"Not really no... But it's my own doing. I shut everyone else out since it's a bit burdensome having like me around," he said and then sighed softly.

They continued to talk a while longer before Chanyeol decided that it was about time to go back to his aunt's house.

Chanyeol had decided to stay over that night at his aunt's place since he didn't really wanna go back to his own luxury apartment back in the city. He was resting in bed when he noticed a familiar tune being played from a piano. He listened carefully and as he sat up, he heard a very lovely voice.

Tonight looking at
The moon that is melancholy
You're also as lonely as me
Living with an empty heart

The rest of the song was drowned out by Chanyeol's thoughts. "Moon of Seoul," he muttered to himself. He looked to the window and stood up, pulling the curtain away a bit only to see the silhouette of Baekhyun sitting at a piano. Even though it was only a silhouette through a curtain, Chanyeol could see the fluid movements of the other's fingers and hands. Those first lyrics really hit home for Chanyeol. It made him think that maybe Baekhyun was just a great liar and was truly lonely.

He wanted to get to know the other and so that's what he planned on doing whenever he could.

It had been a while since Baekhyun had any regular visitors other than Ms. Park from next door. So when Chanyeol began coming over on a regular over the next week, Baekhyun honestly was a bit taken aback. He didn't mind it though since the older seemed to genuinely like being around him.

It was about the third day in a row that Chanyeol visited when Baekhyun was in his wheelchair and then older had panicked quite a bit. Baekhyun had simply laughed at the other's expression. He shook his head and explained to the older that this was his most common way of getting around places, even in his own home.

"So, you use your wheelchair even at home?" asked Chanyeol.

"Yes, I do. My leg begins to hurt if I use it too much so it's much easier if I just use my wheelchair to get around," he answered. He giggled softly when he saw the somewhat surprised look upon the other's face. "By the way Chanyeol... um, I have talked to Ms. Park a lot and well.... are you her CEO nephew by any chance?" he asked.

"Huh?? She talks about me??" the older asked, somewhat shocked to hear that his aunt talked about him to others. He realised he looked a bit ridiculous and calmed down, clearing his throat before he nodded, a sheepish smile appearing on his face. "But yeah... I am. Why?" he asked.

Baekhyun nodded and hummed to himself before giggling softly. "No, it's nothing important. But ever since I first saw you, you gave off this really powerful vibe and well, your clothes kinda give away the fact that you're more than just well-off," he explained.

Chanyeol took a look down at himself and scratched the back of his head. "Well, now you know for sure," he chuckled. "I go back to work as normal in about a week though..." he said, his sentence trailing off.

"Why do you sound so sad about that? Do you not like your job?" the younger chuckled.

"Well, once I go back to work, I'll rarely leave the main city area and on my days off, I'll be too tired to come out here and visit you," the older grumbled and laid down on the couch, acting like a total baby all of a sudden.

"Visit me? I never thought anyone would like me as their company," mumbled Baekhyun. "Why me of all people?"

Chanyeol looked up, looking almost offended by the younger's words. "You're such an awesome person Baekhyun! Why wouldn't I wanna come back and talk to you??" Chanyeol sighed softly before thinking of something, "Gimme your phone, I'm gonna give you my number," he said.

And with that, they exchanged phone numbers and spent the rest of the week chatting both at Baekhyun's place and over the phone, whether it be via calls or texts. Baekhyun honestly found it rather adorable since the other was so insistent on keeping contact with him. He liked the attention though, since he honestly missed having someone to hang out with.

Baekhyun hadn't seen Chanyeol in about a week, but they had kept in contact through text messages. And even though Chanyeol was quite busy when it came to his work, when he had breaks or got home, he would always text Baekhyun. It wouldn't take long for the younger to respond either since he was never too busy with anything.

Baekhyun was scrolling through his instagram feed when he received a message from Chanyeol. He opened it up, taking a moment to comprehend what the other was asking.

To: Baekhyun
From: Chanyeol

Hey Baek! I'm having a little get together with a couple of my colleagues at my place and I kinda wanted to introduce you to them!
Do you think you'll be able to come if I go and pick you up tomorrow afternoon? Let's say about... 4 or so?

He took a moment to think about it and then thought that it was probably a good opportunity to actually talk to some other people.

To: Chanyeol
From: Baekhyun

Hey Chanyeol ^^ Well, as long as my wheelchair can fit in your car and it won't be a bother to have me wheeling myself around your place,
then that sounds fine! I guess I'll see you tomorrow then? Also, should I just wear casual?

Baekhyun sighed softly. He hadn't been out in a while so he didn't know how great his clothes were. He didn't need to wear a lot of his clothes after the accident so a lot of his clothes had just been sitting there in his closet.

To: Baekhyun
From: Chanyeol

Ah, no need to worry about such a thing Baek! I'll be at your place around 4, and just dress comfortably. It's really nothing fancy :D

And so, Baekhyun wheeled himself to his room and tried to decide what he would wear tomorrow.

Baekhyun had just finished brushing his hair when he heard his doorbell ring. He looked up at the time and saw that it must be Chanyeol. He grabbed his things and put them in his black messenger bag before he wheeled himself out to the front door. He opened it and smiled when he saw the older standing there, "Hey Chanyeol."

Chanyeol smiled back to the younger and moved aside to let him through. "Hey, you look nice today," he chuckled as he shut the front door for the younger. He followed Baekhyun down the ramp and down to his car.

"Nice? These clothes have barely been worn over the last couple of years, Chanyeol," Baekhyun laughed softly as he stood up and folded his wheelchair. He waited for the older to open the trunk of his car before he put it inside, making his way over to the passenger seat and getting in with the older's help.

"You still make it work though," Chanyeol grinned. He shut the door and then went around to get into the driver's seat. They headed off to the main part of the city and away from the suburbs.

They finally pulled into the underground parking lot of the apartment complex that the older lived in and once they were inside and the older had parked his car, they both got out and Chanyeol was kind enough to get the wheelchair out of the trunk and unfold it for the younger. "Why thank you, kind sir," Baekhyun teased as he sat back down in his wheelchair. He was a bit surprised though when the older began to push him along from behind.

"Anything for you, young sir," the older responded as they made their way over to the elevator. They headed into the elevator before Chanyeol scanned his keycard and pressed the button for the top most level. "A couple of my friends are already up at my place and I am expecting a couple more to arrive soon as well," explained Chanyeol.

Baekhyun nodded absentmindedly as he watched the numbers going higher on the small screen in the elevator. They finally stopped though once they reached the 31st floor and the elevator opened up with a small ping. Chanyeol continued to wheel him over to the one door that was present on the floor. He scanned his keycard and then entered a code before he opened the door and wheeled Baekhyun inside.

There were a few voices that could be heard and soon died down when their entrance was made a note of. "Hey guys, I'm back!" Chanyeol called out.

The younger looked around the apartment and saw that it was very spacious. He looked into the very open living area and then bowed when he was met with three new faces. He didn't really know what to say to them, but they didn't seem to be too intimidating.

"So this is the one you've been fawning over," one of the guys chuckled. "Nice to meet you cutie, I'm Jongin," he said as he offered a handshake.

"N-nice to meet you, I'm Baekhyun," he smiled and shook the other's hand before letting go. It was a bit weird being called cute by someone he had just met.

"Don't mind Jongin. He's too flirtatious for his own good," another one of them spoke up, "I'm Jongdae, that idiot's cous
