The Campground

Save Me

"D-demigod!?" Jungkook choked, his eyes rounded.

"Why are you so surprised? You've been with one this whole time." Yoongi rolled his eyes before lowering his head to Jin in respect. "It's a pleasure to meet you."

Jin observed Yoongi with interest as though he could sense something no one else could. "No, the pleasure is mine." Jin returned the respectful bow. Naerie watched the interaction in astonishment. It was odd behavior for a demigod to show such respect to someone supposedly weaker than them. Naerie immediately became more suspicious of the young spy. It seemed everyone was hiding something, save for Jungkook and Jimin.

Speaking of Jimin, he'd yet to speak, his eyes wide with wonder as he stared at Jin. Naerie had almost forgotten that the young man was just a regular citizen. Meeting one demigod would be a miracle let alone two. She felt guilty, suddenly feeling responsible for dragging him into this complicated world.

"So," Jin began, dragging Naeries' attention back to him. "Where are we headed?"

"W-we!?" Jungkook and Jimin stuttered in unison.

"You plan to come with us?" Naerie asked, bewildered.

"Why? Is that not allowed?" He raised an eyebrow, his tone challenging.

"Of course not!" Naerie quickly interjected, waving her hands in defense. "It's just that you're the guardian of this forest. If you come with us you'll no longer be able to protect it." She explained as politely as she could. "And.." Naerie glanced around, unsure of whether she fully trusted her allies before she quietly mentioned, "if someone finds your tree while you're gone you could die."

"You needn't worry. I only wish to follow you so that I may find the one killing my people. If I follow him," Jin pointed to Namjoon who was now conversing with V, "he'll surely lead me to the criminal." He stepped closer to Naerie, his breath brushing against her ear as he whispered, "and luckily my spirit is not attached to a tree."

Naerie flushed in embarrassment as he walked away. She silently berated herself for her stupidity as Jimin approached timidly.

"It's settled then." Jin announced proudly, causing V and Namjoon to cut their conversation short. "I'm now accompanying you." V looked incredibly displeased but didn't say anything against it.

"Are you alright?" Jimin questioned, sending nervous looks towards Jin who had begun to animatedly brag about himself to an uninterested Yoongi. "Did he threaten you?"

"No, nothing like that at all." Naerie assured, shaking her head. Jimin seemed unconvinced but didn't bother to interrogate further out of fear of overstepping his boundaries.

"Where do we go now?" Jungkook had walked up to Namjoon amid the quiet chaos that Jin had somehow created.

"Ah, yes. We have a hidden campground not far from here. I have an old friend holding up the fort for us so we probably shouldn't keep him waiting. Hey!" Namjoon shouted over the noise. "Let's go."

"Finally." Yoongi stood up from the shaded spot he'd found, completely ignoring Jin who'd been telling an in-depth story. Jin narrowed his eyes at Yoongi's back but started walking anyway.

Never had Naerie ever met such a talkative demigod. Most demigods like Jin were certainly confident but they were quiet about it. Jin had no shortage of stories and jokes that no one else could understand so the walk was no longer silent. Although the change was nice, she wasn't sure if it was much better than the awkward silence. Yoongi especially seemed to dislike the new addition, periodically rolling his eyes at Jin's words and muttering 'shut up' under his breath.

"I once met a young woman named Bedelia." Jin began his new story, everyone groaned in frustration save for V who seemed interested suddenly. "A lovely woman indeed. She found my home easily, which is not an easy feat by the way..." Jin babbled on for a while about how glorious his home was before returning the story. "She seemed incredibly tired. I knew immediately she wasn't from this planet. She asked me to guard her as she slept." He scratched his chin as he stared into the distance. "I never expected for her to sleep fro so long. In fact, she's still there. My familiars guard her in my place. It was the first time I'd ever met a Mokaieren." Jin sighed as he looked to the sky with admiration in his eyes. "Aren't I wonderful?"

At the word Mokaieren V choked on air and nearly tripped over himself. It meant nothing to anyone else but it seemed that V knew it well.

Interested, Naerie decided to continue the conversation. "What does Mokaieren mean?"

Just as Jin opened his mouth to explain V snapped, sending a deadly glare in Jin's direction. "It means nothing. There's no need to talk about it."

"Oh, V here hasn't told you about the Mokaieren?" He seemed to tease V with a mischievous grin on his face. It didn't take much to realize what a dangerous situation she'd found herself in.

Everyone had no choice but to stop walking to gawk at them as they argued, no one brave enough to get involved.

V's rainbow colored eyes seemed to darken to an almost black shade. "If you care at all about your life then you better shut your mouth." He growled. His already deep voice had become impossibly deeper and infused with his own power. Everyone except for Jin and Yoongi had no choice but to step back at the force behind it.

Jin chuckled lightheartedly, filling the charged silence as he waved V away dismissively while avoiding his gaze. "I was only joking, please do lighten up."

"Okay..." Namjoon interjected slowly, cautiously interrupting them, hoping to stop the conflict. "Can we please keep moving? We're almost there and the sun's going down."

"Hey, Namjoon!" Jungkook changed the subject the moment they'd started walking again, helping everyone relax more. His folded wings still dragged painfully over the ground but at this point he seemed unfazed. "You're a Dimensi, right? You never told us what your curse is yet." This made everyone focus on their conversation. Some curses were so deadly that simply being near the cursed would kill you. It was good to know just how cautious they would have to be.

Namjoon seemed unfazed by the question as he continued to stomp down the path in the iconic way that humans did.

"Ah, that's right, I never told you. I have the curse of destruction. Everything I touch will either break or crumble, or even die."

Everyone collectively created more space between themselves and Namjoon except for V who laughed at their fear.

"Do you really think I'd be so cruel as to leave my travel partner cursed?" V pretended to be hurt, but he couldn't stop the laughter from showing in his bright eyes. "I broke his curse a while ago. As an experienced... demigod I'm able to do things like that." He stumbled over the words demigod as though he were unused to referring to himself as such but everyone ignored it. Naerie noticed Jin's small smile at V's mistake but luckily, he didn't say anything.

"So.. you're a regular human now?"

"Oh, no, I'm not. I still have my destructive ability, I can just control when it happens now." Namjoon explained as he pushed a low branch out of his way. The path had all but disappeared at this point but Namjoon seemed to know the way.

"That's... useful." Jin added almost bitterly. Of course he still didn't trust Namjoon, he believed that he may have killed those he protected. He didn't like Dimensi having control over their own curse. They were cursed for a reason.

Comfortable with the answer she'd been given, she allowed her mind to drift to other things as they continued to converse pleasantly. She thought of Nona, about whether or not she'd rescued her sister from the kings grips. She wondered if she'd already killed the king herself. Of course, Naerie would understand, he took away Nona's family as well so it was justified. Where would Nona go after that? Naerie wondered. No matter, she reminded herself, it's none of my business anyway.

"We just have to pass those bushes there and we'll be at the camp." Namjoon announced, pulling Naerie from her thoughts.

Just as he moved to push away the brush covering the clearing, another man burst through the bushes, eyes wide and an unusual red hue.

"Namjoon! Thank the Goddess you're here!" The man pulled Namjoon into a great hug before holding him away so that he could meet Namjoons eyes. "The camp's been compromised by women!" He then whispered fearfully as he glanced towards the entrance of the 'safe haven'.

"What!? You're supposed to guard it! Did you at least try to fight them!?" Namjoon whispered harshly in response, scanning the brush for any sign of an ambush. Everyone stood by, unsure of what to do.

"And be cursed for eternity!? They're women." The man deadpanned. Namjoon observed the man for a moment and sighed upon realizing he wasn't joking.

Naerie wasn't sure if she should be insulted or not. What kind of reason was that? Did he find women to be so much weaker than himself? Such arrogance... she grumbled, wishing they'd met under different circumstances so that she could show him true weakness.

"What the hell." Yoongi groaned in frustration as he stepped forward. "Move." He ordered the red-eyed man and he stepped aside but not without sending an offended look in his direction.

"What's your problem?" The red-eyed man muttered under his breath.

We stood by quietly, listening for any sounds coming from the other side. Only silence answered us until-

"Yoongi!" A vaguely familiar voice roared. "I'll not be taken back to that hell-hole! By the likes of you no less!" We all rushed through the bushes to see who Yoongi was about to fight.

"Nicheon, wait!" The voice of Nona called.

Our group entered the clearing to see Nona holding her sister back who'd unsheathed her sword and attempted to attack Yoongi. He stood, unsurprised, no fear in his cold eyes. As was to be expected. Naerie reminded herself that he possessed more power than any Eagon before moving her attention to her friend.

"Nona!" Naerie shouted, happiness bubbled in her abdomen knowing that Nona was fine. Her wings were hidden, as all Eagons did so and she wore the dingy leather outfit that she'd worn in the Underground, but her skin held a brighter glow. She approached the young woman with arms outstretched but someone beat her to the punch.

"Nona, I thought you'd died!" Jungkook wrapped his arms tightly around Nona's waist and she stood awkwardly before patting his head with her free arm.

"Good to know you have so little faith in me." She joked.

"Oh, I missed your sarcasm." He sighed as he hugged her tighter.

"Um..."

"Oh, right!" Jungkook stepped back and picked at his fringe awkwardly as he chuckled. "Sorry."

"What is that!?" Nicheon interrupted to point a judging finger towards Namjoon.

"What, me?" Namjoon pointed at himself, eyes wide in surprise as he wondered whether he should be insulted.

"Yes you." Nicheon stepped forward threateningly as she drew her sword. "Human."

Wow. Writers block is seriously no joke! Lol but at least I updated it... (even though it took me like a month and three quarters... approximately) but, hey! Here it is! A new chapter! YAY! (A problem with being a night owl and working early in the morning is that I never get the time to write at night which is the only time I have the amount of inspiration necessary for writing *cries*)

And also since Jin is a 'son of Ekai' his spirit is linked to some geological location or... thing for lack of a better word. Usually daughters of Ekai are attached to trees (most commonly) but they can be attached to virtually anything as long as it remains (mostly) unmoving (therefore not an animal). There is a slight hierarchy among daughters of Ekai. There are those with who are attached to 'special' creations. In Jin's case (it probably won't come up in this story so I'll just tell you) his soul is attached to a diamond tree deep inside a cave. Daughters of Ekai like him are sometimes referred to as 'guardians' because they not only protect the ecosystem and balance, (like all daughters of Ekai) but they also are charged with protecting all of the daughters in that area. Since their "tree" is virtually impossible to find, they are the least likely to die while doing their job. (They also have more freedom meaning that if anything is deemed as a true threat they are able to destroy it without gaining permission from Ekai herself first.) Daughters of Ekai are also the only beings able to contact the spirit of the planet (Ekai).

In the next chapter, Jungkook is finally going to learn about being an Eagon (I least, I hope so! He may not have any feathers left on his poor wings if he doesn't! :,( Haha)! And hopefully Jin and Nicheon will be able to get over the fact that Namjoon is a human. Hopefully! (And so so so sorry I took so long!)
