Golden

Description

First Chapter:

Victoria lived in a small town surrounded by thick forests and virtually disconnected from all outside cities. No one left, no one entered. As such, many people believed in old tales of creatures abducting children or cursing entire towns. Faeries. Victoria didn't believe any of that. All those 'abducted' kids probably just stumbled off of cliffs or got eaten by predators. Magic doesn't exist. Her mother who begs to differ still treats her as a child and forces her to keep a piece of red string around her pinkie and a golden necklace in her pocket when she leaves for the woods.

As she makes the trek to her grandmothers though, she finds that perhaps magic does exist. And it's just as sinister as her mother had told.

The Rest of the Story:

Avery's sister has been missing for over a week. The villagers are too fearful of the forests rulers to question the many and growing disappearances, except for her. In Avery's anger, she unknowingly sends herself on a long, winding journey filled with peculiar people and even more peculiar beasts.

Foreword

This is a weird twist on Little Red Riding Hood I guess! I'm thinking of just keeping it as a one shot perhaps but I don't know! It depends on how it goes.

Enjoy!

*I'm really into the whole "evil Taehyung" idea right now lol forgive me! It's a little dark as well but not enough to be rated M I think.

Aaand, I guess I will continue it. (I have so many stories on the go now lol it's how I keep my sanity)

I suppose this story is and will be loosely based on the myth of faeries. Also, kind of on the faeries where I live (yes, we still believe in faeries, I live in a magical place. ha ha ha!)

I figured that I may as well add some information on the characters, so here it goes.

Avery - she is the main character from the second chapter and on. She's very human and unlike Victoria, she strongly believes in the spirits and faeries of the forest.

Taehyung - for the majority of this story, he's referred to as either V or the Tree King. That's because faeries are bound by their names and would never willingly tell someone, so yeah. Tree elves (or at least the ones I like to write about) are fairly human-like with a few different characteristics. Their eyes are so green they seem to almost glow and they often appear too beautiful to be real. They fall in love very very easily (and that most definitely is not a good thing for anyone which you'll discover in the story). They're also very mischievous and like to trick people. It's very easy to insult one of these guys though and if you do, you're getting cursed big time.

Hoseok - for the same reasons as Taehyung, he's referred to as the River King. So what Hoseok is in this story is something called a Kelpie. They're quite interesting to say the least. For this particular one, he's a shape shifting water spirit with two forms: a black stallion, and a beautiful man. I won't go into too much detail about what they do since I feel it will take away from the story (everything is explained). So yeah!

Jungkook - he's going to be a faun. Before anyone says anything, I know they're supposed to be really hairy, but just this once, I'm going to pretend they're not haha! So for anyone who doesn't know anything about fauns, they're half man, half goat (and no, they are not satyrs! Fauns are innocent, fun-loving balls of fluff, not lecherous old men) They really love playing the flute and dancing to music (also, helping lost travelers). For some reason, I really wanted Jungkook to be a faun (also because I needed at least one "good' character lol). Since fauns are generally silly in nature, he's going to call himself Seagull. And as the name suggests, he really likes seagulls lol

Yoongi - okay, so this one is a little different, but when I was little, I was obsessed with the Wild Hunt. So I kind of want him to be the leading horseman for the Wild Hunt because I've always wanted to write a fantasy with that. So, this is the gist of it: traditionally, the Wild Hunt takes place during the coldest nights of the coldest season. They travel in pursuit of something but no one knows what. People (or faeries) caught by the Wild Hunt either end up miles away from where they originally were, or dead. They are dangerous spirits with fearsome black horses and vicious dogs. (There's a list of traditional names for the Wild Hunt's leader as well, but since this is fantasy, I think it's okay to twist it slightly). Instead of the coldest nights of the coldest season, in this story, it will simply be very cold nights regardless of season. And, obviously, the name of the leader is different. Since Yoongi is going to be quite different from other spirits or faeries, he won't be bound by his name. Also, I feel he will be less vicious than he originally would/should be.

Seokjin - for some reason, the idea to make Jin a pixie of sorts hit me and I just can't imagine him as something else. Pixies (where I come from and probably everywhere else too) are most known for being very enchanting and beautiful. That's one of the ways they steal human children away. They also have a strange habit of stealing infants from their cribs at night and replacing the children with faerie children. Like with Hoseok, I won't go into too much detail because it could potentially spoil the story. But like elves, they are very mischievous and like fauns, they are very playful. He will go by Jin since it isn't his actual name technically.

Jimin - he will be very human, just like Avery, but unlike her, he's a lost child. Despite being an adult, he will be very childish and charged with raising other lost children. I won't say too much about him either lol.

Namjoon - I am still unsure of what Namjoon will be. I was thinking that perhaps I could make him a satyr, but one of their main characteristics is their old appearance and I don't feel like making Namjoon a creepy, (but incredibly wise) old man who is a bit too fond of young women... you know what, screw it. Young satyrs may not exist but they do now! Hahaha! As to what he'll call himself... I'll cross that bridge when I get there I guess.

This is the first time I've ever thought to do this, but it might be interesting. I want to write more of the story before I post it so if you want to get more of a feel for what the characters may be like, I'll leave a list of songs that you can check out! Music is very important to me when it comes to writing and reading so it may interest some people.

Taehyung - for him, the songs I think of most when it comes to his character in this story are:

  • Monsters by Ruelle. This is actually a song that I listen to quite a lot when I'm writing this story, not just for specific characters.
  • Hypnotic by Zella Day. I choose this song because of how easily elves fall in love and I feel that the chorus fits it well.
  • I'll Be Good by Jaymes Young. This song also kind of makes me think of this elf character, since he falls deeply in love so easily.
  • Nature Boy by Aurora. This is a cover, but it sounds so mystical that it just fits the whole story.
  • Ophelia by The Lumineers. I'm really pushing the whole 'love' thing lol, but these are the songs which I feel fit his character best.

Hoseok - I've thought a lot about his character a lot so I have a lot of songs for him

  • Monsters by Ruelle. To be honest, 95% of the Ruelle songs I listen to suit this character and story. Monsters especially suits him though.
  • Oh My My by Ruelle. Just like I said before, a lot of her songs fit his character lol
  • In Boxes by Aurora. I feel like this song could potentially give too much away, but it just fits in a strange way.
  • Wisdom Cries by Aurora. I personally feel like I should warn anyone who actually intends to listen to this song, it has a strange, almost terrifying sound to it which is why I feel it fits the whole story and Hoseok's character. The sound fits the story much more than the lyrics do. If you are very easily creeped out or anything like that, then perhaps you shouldn't listen to it.
  • Under The Water by Aurora. This song also may give too much away, but it also seems to fit so well. Especially the sound of the chorus.
  • Black Water Lilies by  Aurora. Many Aurora songs fit Hoseok's character including this one. The list for his character could go forever lol

Jungkook - I listen to so many sad or dark songs when writing that it's hard to find happy ones hahaha!

  • Man on the Moon by Zella Day. Okay, so this song's sound is very upbeat and happy (the lyrics don't relate to his character at all lol) so I feel it fits him well.
  • Conqueror by Aurora. This song is also very happy, so I feel that it fits his character as well. Lyrics... not quite.
  • Nothing's Wrong by Echosmith. This is a happy sounding song, so it fits too!

Yoongi - Oh boy, do I have songs for his character

  • Monsters by Ruelle. Of course this song fits his character, 95% of Ruelle songs do, so check her out for sure!
  • Oh My My by Ruelle. 'Nuff said. The lyrics fit oh so well, it send shivers down my spine.
  • Winter Bird by Aurora. I don't know why. but for some reason I feel it fits him.
  • Wisdom Cries by Aurora. I chose it for its sound, just like I did for Hoseok's character.
  • Running With The Wolves by Aurora. Portions of the lyrics do fit his character quite well I think and the song just seems to fit well for some reason. Just any Aurora song suits him I guess ha ha! I have a lot more, but the list would get way too long.

Seokjin - Seokjin's character is actually kind of... difficult to find songs for...

  • Murder Song (5, 4, 3, 2, 1) by Aurora. He does things believing they will benefit others, but no matter what he does, they seem hurt in the end. Sadly, that's the only song I could think of at the moment.

Jimin - his character is the one with the most unfortunate circumstance, so I have many songs that I listen to with this character in mind

  • Drown by Seafret. He's a lost child, trapped in a paradise and devoid of happiness, so this song fits.
  • Little Boy In The Grass by Aurora. This song is so sad, but fits so well.
  • Runaway by Aurora. He longs for home despite being in "paradise". He's also a runaway, so it works. The lyrics fit him very very well.
  • Warrior by Aurora. There are certain parts that I feel fit particularly well. Perhaps not the chorus, but the rest.
  • Home by Aurora. Certain parts of this song just hit me and I feel that they can match, not just his character, but every lost child in the story

I honestly don't have anything for Namjoon yet so I'll just leave some other songs that I listen to as I write

  • The Woods by Daughter
  • Poison by Vaults
  • Madness by Ruelle
  • Blue Blood by Laurel
  • Take it All by Ruelle
  • Literally anything by Florence + The Machine for example, Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)

Whelp, this is much longer than I first intended. If you've read this far, congratulations! Hahaha
