“Jungie ah…or di soh?”

“OMMA, yo gi so… whei?” YJ lifted her head up from her Instagram account as she heard her mum’s voice across the hall.   

Omma: “Jungie ah… your agency just called to ask you to attend a casting interview this Friday. You have time right? You will go right?”

“Omma… why are you so excited? What kind of casting is this? You didn’t even tell me the details and you are expecting me to go?” YJ’s smile sweetly as always and turned her head back to her mobile phone.  

Omma laughed: “neh..Jungie ah, Is a period drama, something you are so familiar with, I am sure you can do it. It is based on a very popular web novel which omma is a great fan of. I really wished you can be selected to be part of the drama.”

“alarsoh, so I will be interviewing for the child character to which sunbae nim, omma?”

Omma: “Jungie ah, no more child anymore, you are interviewing for the lead role!”

“bwooo??????” YJ stared at her mum in disbelief. “omma… jinjiat, I am selected to cast for a lead role?”

“neh… aren’t you excited?” omma wrapped her arms around her daughter.

YJ nodded: “neh… who am I playing lead with, nugu ya? Jingoo oppa? Minho oppa?”  

Omma: “park bogum shi, that’s his name”

Yj’s pov

“bogum oppa?”

she has never really know bogum oppa personally. She has actually seen him before at her agency when he came over for vocal training, but after a while, she stopped seeing him and found out that he has joined cha tae hyun’s sunbae nim’s agency.

many people talk about him, saying how nice he is, especially from sunbae nim like cha tae hyun. Even jingoo oppa has mentioned that he is a really nice person. Well, she has watched his drama and he being the emcee for music programmes before, but then cos she is also hosting a music programme at a different station, she did not really pay that much of attention to him, just that she sees him having a  great chemistry with his female co-emcee.

“What am I thinking? I should not even think so far now, I may not even be selected.” YJ chuckled to herself. “omma, I will try my best on Friday!”

YJ searched online for news related to this casting and knew that bogum oppa has already been confirmed way before for this drama. There were other female candidates being considered for this role but seems like PD Nim is still taking his time to do the final selection.

YJ flipped open the script that her agency passed her in preparation for the casting interview, and like her omma said. The story mermerised her right from the beginning. Although the scipt is just for one episode, YJ felt she has grown into the character and can understand what she is going through.

“bogum ah, your female lead has not been decided yet? Are they really looking for a crown princess for you?” the staff in the agency were all gathered for a lunch session and were just chit chatting on the recent projects.

Bogum smiled politely as always: “aniya, the crew is very particular to find a very suitable person to play this role, she must be cute, bubbly and petite. That’s the character in the novel.”

Cha tae hyun: “ahh… I know of someone in my previous agency who fits so well in this category..”

Bogum: “nugu ya?” bogum is more than curious to know who his possible co-star will be. it has been a while and though many names were circulating but none has been confirmed yet.

Cha tae hyun: “ she is….. aniya aniya, she can’t be the one anyway. She is too young. Look at the novel, it is so adult based, she cannot deliver all these scenes.”

“it seems so hard just to find the female lead. I am dealing with a very high standard crew this time, hyung. I am actually scared I can’t deliver.”

“don’t worry bogum, need any advice, come to me ya.” Cha patted his shoulder to give this little brother an encouragement.

PBG’s POV

This is very different from his last drama… he wasn’t really the only centre of attention previously and he can still share his stress with other co-stars in the drama as they are all sort of sharing the responsibility of being the main leads. And this is his first ever period drama. He really wonders if he can deliver. And who is his co-star? It is good to have someone he knows…

Phone call from Bogum’s agency

“Bogum ah, have you heard?  Your female lead is confirmed.”

“jinjiat? Nugu ya hyung? Who is playing the lead with me?” bogum cannot hide his excitement yet felt apprehensive with the new partner.

“kim yoo jung, that’s her name.”
