Some people view 520 as an internet slang for ‘I love you’, some see it as a random number floating around the screen, most see it as the date May 20, but to Luhan and Sehun, it is the date.

Their most memorable day.

Their anniversary.

Of course, other people or their fans wouldn’t know the significance of the said date. They didn’t know what was going on their personal lives. Their privacy is a delicate thing, one actual evidence of their relationship and their jobs are on the line. But then again, most people would just see it as fanservice.

Luhan, at first, did not actually think that their relationship would last for more than a few months, especially with all the conflicts and controversies. All of the days they weren’t together gave his heart aches that are difficult to soothe. But even though his heart was always aching, the days full of longing, he was – still is – happy they are still together.

“Luhan-ge?” Sehun said.

“Yes, Sehunnie?”

“I…” a pause, “nothing. Forget about it.”

“Sehunnie…” Luhan looked pointedly at Sehun, “remember what we always tell each other?”

“...No secrets.”

“No secrets. So tell me. You know you can tell me anything.”

“But–”

“Spill.”

“I… I l-love you, ge.”

“I love you too, hun.” Luhan replied, a little confused. They always say that to each other, so what’s new.

“Not like that, ge.” Sehun said, a little frustrated. “I mean I love you. I’m in love with you.”

Luhan blanked out, many thoughts going through his head at light speed. So he’s not with…? He thought. All this time?

“...ge? Ge? It’s okay if you don’t see me in that way as long as–”

“Wait, wait. Stop.” Luhan interrupted him, his head clear enough to process the words Sehun said last. “I love you too. And yes, in that way.”

“Really? You’re not saying this out of pity, are you?”

“No. I just…” Luhan paused, not noticing that tears started building up in his eyes. “I love you, Sehun. The reason I haven’t told you is because I thought you were in love with Jongin, or Zitao, or with that one trainee I don’t even know the name of.”

“No, ge. It’s you. It has always been you. And it will always be you.”

Tears of joy started streaming down Luhan’s eyes. He hugged Sehun tightly, sobbing because his fear of not being loved romantically by the younger was gone. When he stopped, he looked up to Sehun and said, “Will you be my boyfriend?”

Sehun chuckled. “Yes, you are now my boyfriend.”

Then they kissed.

The first actual lips to lips kiss; they poured out their deepest feelings to each other. A kiss they shared as a beginning of their tomorrow.

Hours later, after a date they didn’t plan at all, Luhan was resting his head on Sehun’s shoulder when he realized something. He chuckled. “Sehun, I just remembered, it’s 20th of May, 2013 right now.”

Sehun turned to him quizzically, “What’s with May 20, ge?”

“You don’t know?”

“Know what?”

“520 is an internet slang for wo ai ni.”

“Oh.” Sehun smiled, “520, huh.”

“Yeah.” Luhan laughed, “gosh could we not get any cheesier?”

Sehun joined him laughing, their voices echoing inside the place. He embraced the elder tightly, then whispered in his ear with so much feeling, “Wo ai ni, xiao Lu.”

Luhan smiled at the memory. After that, they went through so many things together. Good times, bad times, entirely difficult times, even a cool off the time he was leaving EXO. But now they were all past that.

Now, even though it was difficult being in a long distance relationship, they are still together. Stronger than ever. Nothing will stop them.

Shawty imma party til the sun down, Luhan’s smartphone rang.

“Hello?”

“Happy third anniversary, love.”

“Happy anniversary, Sehunnie.”

“Wo ai ni, xiao Lu. I miss you.”

“Saranghae, Sehun-ah. I really, really miss you. I’m sorry I’m not able to be with you right now. I’m just really busy. If it weren't for this shooting…”

“It’s fine, xiao Lu. I know. We will still celebrate. Just not today.”

“Thank you, Hunnie. I love you.”

“I love you.”
