Tae has spent the last couple of years thinking she'll probably die an old spinster since her family is poor and she is now considered old for a single woman in the countryside. All she had wanted through out her life was to find a good husband, live a quiet and peaceful life, and maybe do some traveling when they had the money to spare. Of course, the world had other plans for her. Due to the careless words of a drunken father to no less than the king of her country, Tae finds herself being carted away to the king's palace to turn straw into gold, an act of pure magic when she has none. Caught in the crossfires of the political upheaval going on in the court, the potential war brewing in the east, and the wills of a king and high wizard, Tae's life unfolds and expands in ways she never even knew were possible. Now what Tae wants is a little control over where her life is going, but she's going to have to fight tooth and nail before she can get even that.
