The One(s) who got away...[Earlier that morning]
Kkkkkrrrrriiiiinnnnnggggg!!!!!
The first fire drill of the school year.
I can't believe they held it on the 2nd week of school.
The whole student body had earlier assembled in the school hall and waiting for the respective home room teacher to start the headcount.
The freshmen classes stood on the first two rows, followed by the sophomore classes, junior classes and finally senior classes. Within the different level of classes, there were 3 different types of classes. Freshmen Class 1 and 2 were the Advanced class for the gifted programmes. You either had to show excellence in the triple maths modules - computing science, physics and engineering maths. Basically, they are en route to ivy leagues colleges. The next Freshmen class 3 and 4 were the Express class, which I am in. Those in this particular class would be focusing more on biology, chemistry, accountancy, history, literature and geography. The last Freshmen Class 5 and 6 was the normal programme. They housed students with slightly lower academic excellence, sordid disciplinary records or have had juvenile police record. The supposedly bad apples of each cohort.
Even though it was already the second week of school, I still did not make much friends in class. Let alone in the school. I was waiting for the After school curricular recruitment drive to happen so that I could join the library club as a student librarian and then meet more like-minded students.
Another reason for my lack of social circles was that I did not attend the orientation programme, held the week before school start. Almost everyone in my class had gotten to know each other well during that in-camp orientation programme. Those stupid evil aunties of mine must have purposely not inform my mom of such a programme. Now I am stuck all alone as the rest of my classmates had already formed their own respective cliques and newcomers like myself were not that welcomed.
It's a miracle that I even becam
