Words of Wisdom
“Kim Hyoyeon looks sad. …Let me guess. Guy problems.” Eunhyuk joins her as she walks along the pavement, sticking his hands in his pockets. She doesn’t speak. “I’m right, right?”
She nods and mumbles a soft, “Mhm.” He places an arm around her shoulder, pulling her close to him. “Guys are jerks. He should be ashamed that he’s making such a lovely lady like you upset.” Eunhyuk smiles as a blush colours in her pale cheeks. “Aren’t you curious? Aren’t you going to ask who he is, oppa?”
“Nope. If you don’t want to tell me, I won’t press on unnecessarily. That’s just going to make you more upset. Besides, you know me. I’m your best friend but I don’t interfere with your love life.” He shrugs, and then moves his arm down to hold her hand. “It’s just… It’s going to be hard to let go of him. He was… special.”
“If he was that special, he wouldn’t have left you in the first place. And knowing my Hyoyeon, he was the one who did something wrong, and not you.” Eunhyuk guesses, swinging their arms as they walk along. She doesn’t say anything, just looks down as she walks, and since the street is pretty empty today, she doesn’t crash into anyone. Eunhyuk looks at her and sighs.
“If you’re brave enough to say goodbye, Hyo, life will reward you with a new hello. That’s all I can tell you.”
The rest of the walk is silent, as she thinks through his advice. Perhaps he’s right. Perhaps she really does have to let go… at least, learn to let go. Maybe then will she stop feeling so depressed? Maybe then… Just maybe, she’ll find someone new.
Just maybe.
