TS once and for all. if it means they'll have to steal information from the national black m-

arket, or hijack security systems to capture their targets, or execute uncooperative crimin-

als without trial ... consider it done. or as the king and queen of the group would say: "if

they won't serve justice, who will?"

these crowned figures sit high at the throne of the vigilantes, monitoring their soldiers'

movements and preying on those with the potential to join their ranks: "don't you want to

stop living in fear, my dear friend?" THEY murmur. "join us, we'll reform peace once again."

their troops are arranged like chessmen; from pawn to rook to knight to bishop, one will

ascend the hierarchy once they have proven their loyalty towards their cause.

the group has planted multiple miniature bases across the city - the secondary storage room

hidden behind the corner cafe, the forgotten classroom sitting in the basement of that one

privileged university, or that "unused" apartment room on the seventh floor of a street no

one really remembers - but none are ever permanent. not when both the mayor and solitaire

want you dead.

so how do they maintain their secrecy? instead of regular get-togethers, official orders

and updates are received through the group's very own private phone application - access

being granted by the swipe of a fingerprint - and missions are personally texted in a concrete

format. for example: "GATHER OUTSIDE CHECKPOINT B for a recon mission, signal the man in the

beige trenchcoat by offering a two-handed wave and salute." then they'll come in disguise,

weapons at the ready, to fight for what is right.

... is it right?

WITH their unwavering loyalty towards the Force over their past five-or-more years of service, the Bishops stand tall as the right-hand soldiers of the King and Queen. You could practically consider them as the second-in-commands. No single report nor clue fails to slip by them, and the maintenance of Checkmate's online mission distribution system lies solely in their capable hands.

ONLY the utmost respect should be given to the grand Knights of Solitaire, for only those who have provided the most invaluable of results throughout their years of service are promoted to this Rank. They are comprised of the most adept of soldiers, masterminds and agents; thus, with years of experience on their backs, they often having little to no trouble working the field to their command.

HAVING surpassed the trials of the Pawn, they have proven themselves as soldiers worth keeping. These Rook(ie)s of Checkmate are eager to please and contribute, often populating the field like wildcats, as they jump at every hint or tail discovered at the disfavour of their sworn enemy. Indeed, they may be quite new to the nitty-gritty missions distributed by their superiors, but their fierce and fresh passion for justice is one to be feared.

EVERY new recruit starts off as a Pawn; otherwise known as a soldier-in-training, typically apprenticing under a Bishop or a Knight, and quickly ~~disposable~~ ready for combat if needed. The youngest pawns are never a year younger than 20, and generally remain in this Rank for a minimum of 2 years.
