Glad You Came

OHMYGOD!! OHMYGOD!! OHMYGOD!! I finally touched by laptop again! Yay! I'm sorry I haven't update in a while, the whole natiONAL EXAMS really got into my nerves.

Anyhow, my fellow readers, let's get to it! XOXO

October 2015 - Seoul, South Korea

One day after lunch hour, Deanna received a call from a good friend.

“Ah Kwangsoo! Good day. What is it that you suddenly called me?”

“Ah Nuna, I’m so sorry to bother you this time. I was just wondering if you want to come to Running Man this afternoon.”

“Running Man? As guest? That’s so sudden,” Deanna said, “When afternoon?”

“Hmm, actually you can come by now, if you want. Or come at around five, if you don’t want to wait too long. What do you say, Nuna?”

Deanna instinctively looked for her schedule list. She shook her head, “I might be able to, but I can’t promise you either. I’m not sure if I could make it in time. I have works to do, Kwangsoo.”

Oh that’s okay. Don’t worry about it. It’s all so sudden, I won’t blame you.”

“Sure you won’t,” She rolled her eyes just as Kwangsoo laughed at the other side of the phone. “Alright Kwangsoo-yah, I must hang up. I’ll inform you later, okay.”

“Sure, Nuna. Take care.”

Running Man, huh?

It was already months after the episode of her on Running Man. And sure enough, it was a great waste of her time. She recalled that time when she walked down the red carpet, with all the men gaping at her sudden appearance. She remembered where she always argued with Haha about many random things. She remembered where she had to tell all the cast about her job, her live, her anything. She remembered she had to keep a secret with Haha and won the mission. She remembered those precious moments. And she didn’t realize she missed them, working with seven beautiful people on their own way.

Well said, she really wanted to come there and played straight away.

But of course, works interfered.

The fashion show in London had got her more popular amongst the fashion nation. More local clients reached for her. And she considered herself feeling lucky. One big agency wanted to sign her on contract as one of the models. Of course she said yes with that. She knew that her haunted history still lingered in the minds of her potential clients. It wasn’t a surprise if they were still being so critical about her contract with them. At least some of them had small amount of faith in her. It was good enough for her. She managed to build up the lost reputation slow and steady.

Like today, she had a photo-shoot for a major magazine. And since it was so big the shoot took about four hours long, which was annoying in some cases. Noted, she wasn’t as prima as her young age. Thanked god the editor respected that. But she knew that her client had huge hopes of her, realizing that she was a top model on her age.

During the shoot-break, she received yet another call from another good friend.

“Jaesuk-oppa!”

“Ne, Deanna-yah. How are you doing?”

“I’m doing great. Why are you calling, Oppa?”

“Yah, I need a favour. Would you like to come to film a Running Man?”

Ah of course. Kwangsoo mentioned something about Running Man guest earlier before. “Oh, when is it?”

“Come whenever you want, but the invitation is until five p.m.” Jaesuk explained, not knowing that she already knew. “So are you going?”

“I’m not sure, oppa. I still have some shoot to do. Might be done around that time, so I’m not sure if I could come. But I really want to come!” Deanna frowned slightly, “But I’ll try to make it. I’ll call you about it later.”

“Okay, take your time. We’ll talk a bit later. Have a good day!”

“Bye!”

Running Man, huh?

By now she really missed that variety game show. And to be honest, that wasn’t the only thing she missed. She remembered the time when she and Yoo Jaesuk first ever met each other awkwardly. When he asked her about any relation to Ricky Kim, since they had the same Kim, which was funny in a way. She remembered where she had to dimwit Yoo Jaesuk in the ttakji game. And the hug. And his secret.

Until now, she couldn’t believe he had that secret inside the funny and chatty MC. It just didn’t show whenever she watched him on TV. Kwangsoo was right; he was good in hiding emotions. But somehow he had the gut to tell all of it to a woman whom he had never met, that caused him another heated argument with his… Ex-wife.

But if he hadn’t told her about her secret, his problem, she wouldn’t have felt this close with the man. It amazed her how an accidental talk could grow so much more between the two persons, her and him.

With that she was determined to come. She was. But as been told, works interfered.

At the end of the day, she was the one to decide. Whether she took a good rest back at her apartment after a long day work, or to spend the last of her energy playing games she didn’t even know.

She received a message of the filming address, which was far away from her apartment but close enough from where Burger was at.

“Holy shipwreck! Burger! Oh my God, I almost forgot about him!”

“Did you say something?” her friend, Michelle spoke out.

Deanna glanced at the blond and shook her head. “I’m facing very tough options to choose; to go home or to Running Man.”

“Running Man? You love that show a lot.”

“I know. That’s why I really want to come. But there are a lot of things in my mind,” she paused, occasionally glancing at her. Michelle, sensing that something was off with her, looked over to see Deanna was smiling like a complete idiot. “Hey Michelle?”

Michelle couldn’t help but to roll her eyes, “What?!”

“Can you take care of Burger for me? For one day?”

“I’d love to but my parents are visiting. And Mom is allergic to dog,” Michelle stated, a slight of disappointment came from both girls. “So despite how cute Burger is, it’s still a no. Sorry.”

“Sure, I understand,” Deanna nodded and sighed. “If you were me, what would you do?”

“You wanna know what I think? It’s a crap really. I’m sure you know the fact that you’re so tired. Your face can not lie,” Michelle told her, “I’m not a huge fan of Running Man, not like you. But if you think that Running Man worth every energy you have left, then you have nothing to lose.”

Was Running Man really worthy of her time? Did she really need to waste her energy for something she wanted to do?

Yes.

She decided to call Kwangsoo for a confirmation. It took a few rings before the young man picked it up.

Ah Nuna, are you coming?!” there was a hopeless vibe in his voice which told her that he was desperate.

“I will, don’t worry about it. I’ll be there around four or more. But can I bring Burger with me? Do you mind having a dog on set?”

“Of course! Some guests also brought their pets.”

“Other guests? I thought I was the only one. Who is it?”

“Well, you have to come if you wanna find out. They are big names you won’t even believe.”

“Yah, arasseo. I’ll see you in an hour.”

“Ye, Nuna. Drive safe.”

Smiling like a Cheshire cat, she bid goodbyes to Michelle and other people and went to the pet shop to get Burger back. Funny, he must have felt something strong since he was never been this happy on a way home; or maybe because he wasn’t going home yet.

The school was closed, obviously since it was Sunday. It was perfect timing for Running Man crew to rent a gymnasium and used it as their set. When she got to the parking lot, she was surprised by five buses all lined up nicely, filling up the space. Next to them were Running Man cars, obvious with the R stickers all over the skin. As she went deeper into the parking lot, more variety of cars was spotted. Hmm… This must be a special episode.

She met a familiar FD, Go Dongwan, who looked normal without any costumes and such. He took her to the gym door and asked to wait for a bit, which she heavily obliged. When the door was ready, she was allowed to come in, with the smokey grand entrance.

Oh. My. God!

What did I get myself into?!

He knew that Running Man staff could do anything impossible beyond imagination. From annual Idol Race, superhero squad missions, to a western-time badge stealing. So when he found out that one hundred athletes from different types of material arts came to challenge seven clueless members of Running Man, he just sighed deeply as everybody else.

But at least they got themselves some back-ups. Their pre-mission was to invite as many famous persons as they could from all over the nation, as long as their names could be found on the internet browsing. They had around six hours to gather all the guests until the play time; one hundred versus one hundred name-tags ripping contest.

For hours he tried to contact his fellow MCs and comedians, but only few had actually come to the set. He thought this was probably the weirdest and toughest mission ever done. And he hated to admit but he was desperate. All of them were.

“Yah hyung, I don’t know many numbers,” Gary huffed out and sat down next to him. “I really don’t have any ideas.”

“Gary-ah, I’m stuck as well. A lot of people I called are busy,” Jaesuk sighed and looked around to see around him. “Haha seems to be on the phone all the time. He must have invited a lot.”

“But so far we don’t have enough women. The only girl we have is UEE. We need more—yah hyung, Deanna Kim!” Gary’s face suddenly lit up like a light bulb suddenly blinked bright. “Hyung, do you have her number? Kwangsoo maybe—”

“Ah Gary, I already called her actually.”

“Oh, that’s good,” Gary couldn’t help but chuckled. “I don’t know why but when I look at you I remember of her.”

“Yah. Ha. Ha. That’s weird, Gary-ah.”

“Eh hey, I was just saying.” Gary jokingly shrugged and went back into his phone.

Deanna Kim.

He had so many thoughts going on right he made the call. He was afraid that he would disturb her work. But then again, it was Sunday and she might be free for the day. Who knew? Maybe she would come, or maybe not. When he called her, she mentioned something about whether or not she could make it. He hoped that she could make it. Aside from needing more guests for the show, He… How to say it? He somehow missed her.

Truth to be told, Jaesuk didn’t connect with female better. The only girl he comfortable with was Jihyo, obviously, and perhaps his fellow comedians. But with Deanna, it just felt different. Awkward still, but it was just different. A good kind of different; A comfortable awkward.

Soon, the guests were coming one group by one group; from a high-class actor to an unknown reggae music group. Even professional boxers were there as well. Yoo Jaesuk thought he knew a lot of people but this was way out of his league. It was hilarious to see all the guests awkwardly tried to make a conversation with the person next to them. He knew they were having hard time coping with the amount of people at the same time. And honestly, he was too.

Another cluster of guests came by. One of the most annoying thing ever happened with the guests was when Jaesuk had to introduce them one at a time. After a short and simple introduction, they continued the scene with a joke and dance battle, like what was happening with GOT7 and the twins. Not to be rude, the dance was cool, but the fact that he and the rest of the guests had to go through similar event over and over again bored him.

But all of that soon dispersed when the door burst opened, letting in a particular woman and a dog he never thought would have come, had come. And he failed to retrain a wide smile.

“Nuna! NUNA!!” Kwangsoo immediately screamed and bolted to the door, while others just shocked and confused at the same time.

Something happened, though. Kwangsoo immediately went back to the stools near the staff and grabbed his coat. He then put her body, trying to hide herself from the camera. But after that things went as confused as normal.

“Yah Kwangsoo-yah, what is this?” Deanna who was looking like she had seen a ghost, nervously walked, trailing behind Kwangsoo when he took her to the main set where the curious guests all sat. Deanna shook her head. “Oppa, why there is so many people?”

“Deanna-ssi, please come and join us! I will explain about it later,” Jaesuk offered a hand to her with a Bulldog tailing behind them. “Burger-ah, annyeong!”

Burger just barked happily, wiggling its tail. He too was bewildered—in dog’s perspective—with the sudden crowded situation. He took his free time to wander around the gym, meeting new people and a fellow dog friend. And that was how quick Burger settled down with the set. Whereas Deanna still put on a stiff smile to the people around her.

“Ha! I really cannot believe this, but Deanna-ssi actually came straight from her modelling work,” Jaesuk went on, “Ladies and gentleman, Deanna Kim!”

Deanna was about to stand up to bow to the camera and the other guests when her arch enemy, Haha, snickered from behind. “Yah! Don’t block the camera!”

“Wae? Ah, I’m so sorry. I’m really sorry.” Deanna shamefully sliding back to her seat, which only made them laughed. Deanna couldn’t help but feel slightly loose up. “Ne, thank you for having me! And I was actually about to cancel this invitation from Running Man. It was so sudden.”

“Deanna-yah, it is so sudden that look what he was wearing.” Jongkook implied to the man with a bike suit just few seats behind her.

“Yeah, I realized that. And this…,” Deanna pointed out to the mass behind her, “I don’t know that you’re inviting this big number of people. I thought I was that special guest.”

“Yah! We thought so too. We all did.” A guest replied from the back, and all the people laughed along.

As they went deeper introducing her, which she burst out in anger when she found out about the big mission—she hit Kwangsoo and Jaesuk for not telling about it—things went better for her. During the break, she and the other guests gathered at the photo area to take pictures. Since Kwangsoo and Jaesuk both invited her, the four of them, with Burger, took the selfie together.

Jaesuk watched how she interacted with the other guests. He thought it would be very awkward, but turned out she just flowed along with them. He stated this once; she was easy to be friends with, so it wouldn’t be so hard to connect with her. Yes, he still spotted stiff motion whenever she talked to fellow guests, but overall she managed it well.

Jaesuk was a curious person; he couldn’t deny it, particularly about the coat incident at the beginning. Asking Kwangsoo would be useless. So he just talked with others while carefully glanced at her. Came the time where she had to wear black sweatshirt, she slowly slid off the coat. At first he thought it was because of her outfit. Turned out she was wearing those backless top, showing her back completely to the world. But when she turned around facing the other side, he mentally gaped. Now he really understood.

It was a blurry image but there was a distinctive black drawing of what looked like big butterflies attached to only her the left side of her back. He knew about her forearm tattoo and her other finger tattoo, but that big artistic design mesmerized him. He also didn’t expect that, that’s why he found her very interesting.

“Yah hyung, what are you looking at?” Kwangsoo appeared out of nowhere, making Jaesuk stammered slightly.

“Aniyo, just wondering what will the next game is. It is going to be soon. We have 60 people now.”

“I agree. We should get ready.”

Jaesuk could only nod in relief that Kwangsoo was too busy to be able to spot his mind game.

Dodge ball was an ordinary ball game on Running Man. But when 120 people played this game, it was colossal. And for Deanna, she slapped Kwangsoo one more time.

She was chosen to play in the field along with 59 others from R-team. So far she played well, despite the fact that she always hid herself behind bigger guests. But soon their numbers were getting lower and lower in a moment. So did the Athlete team.

Yoo Jaesuk watched in glee as Deanna just ran along wherever the mass went, which was funny since she failed to hide herself when she was towering above anyone else. He held back an amusing chuckle when Deanna just tailed behind the crowd, covering herself out. It was fun to watch this legendary game of upgraded dodge ball.

“Yah! Do I really need to do this?!” he heard Deanna grunted as she dodged another ball towards the black team’s field.

“Deanna-nuna, fighting!! Mianhae!! Fighting!!” Kwangsoo yelled out in hopeless tone, which caused some to laugh.

Deanna seemed to lose her attention to the game, that she didn’t see a ball flying towards here. The ball hit her by the side of her face hard making her stumbled in shock. When she fell, the guys around her immediately helped her to get up. A lot of ‘gwenchana?’ was asked. How she answered it, though, was hilarious. She stood up and began chasing Kwangsoo throughout the gym.

“Yaish!! Kwangsoo-yah!!”

After Deanna threw him a shoe—she was very satisfied when it hit his back—the game went on again. She sighed and moved to watch from the side next to Yoo Jaesuk.

“Yah, gwenchana?” he asked.

“Gwenchanayo, oppa. It was only a shocker. I’m fine.”

“No, that’s not what I meant. You are really pissed off about this, aren’t you?” he asked, getting a laugh from Deanna, “Tell me.”

“Well, in a way, yes. I was tired and I didn’t expect this to happen. I thought this was going to be bad for me,” she nodded, “But hey, I am lucky so far.”

“Yah, I was worried that you would be uncomfortable. Mianhae.”

“Don’t. It’s a total blast!”

A comfortable silence went on between them as they set their eyes back to the game, now shrinking in numbers. Deanna glanced slightly at him, trying so hard not to smile. Oh, how she missed him when he was worried for her. It was cute.

“Deanna-yah?”

“Ne, oppa?”

“What happened earlier? With you and Kwangsoo’s coat?”

“Ah… Well, let’s just say I wore something that not the most proper for a family show. You know what I mean,” Deanna shrugged, “To be honest I think it wasn’t my fault since this invitation was so sudden.”

“Oh well, at least you came.” Jaesuk reluctantly nodded, and turned to her. “I really wished you to come, you know.”

“Ha! Miss me, don’t you?” Deanna smugly grinned, “Yah oppa, I am here now. Do not worry.”

Jaesuk casually snorted and shook his head. Deanna couldn’t hold back a giggle, knowing that she also missed him big time.

By the time, Running Man team won the game. As a reward, ten athletes would not participate in the name-tag contest, which was huge advantage for the people in black. Soon they went back to set the chairs for over 60 guests, and counting.

Deanna sat down randomly next to a fellow foreigner from Australia, Sam Hammington, which she had met in few occasions. For the first time in hours; she was finally able to have a proper English conversation. Now she missed her family back at home, in America.

Four months she hadn’t met them, since she first came to Korea. It that she couldn’t really go back to the States and lived there. She had to clean up first. She had to leave the liberal world and tried to cope with a harsh society perspective. Her family, especially her father demanded a non-smoking daughter, which he failed to have. Because of that, he expected Deanna to at least tone it down a little by little. Her father thought that Korea would make a greater impact on her smoking life. She reluctantly agreed to stay there to fix things up. And it seemed working. She had consumed less cigars week by week. She actually felt much healthier. Although she still kept one or two rolls inside her purse, she could keep her hands to herself.

When Sam was away, she took the moment to visualize the current situation; over 70 different types of people were gathered all in the same place under the same roof, having informal chit-chats to get to know each other well. Deanna also experienced other knew things. There was this man offered her a chance to work in a music video. About what song, she didn’t know. But this singer was really determined to have her on his music.

And then there was this group of people with reggae vibe outfits and dreadlocks and stuff. They even brought some gendang and drums and other traditional looking instruments. One of them actually brought a black Labrador, Cookie, who was already bonding with Burger at the corner of the gym.

In the middle of her observation, she fell asleep, unknowing that couple of people had been watching her.

“Kwangsoo-yah, look what you have done to your nuna.” Jongkook randomly pointed her water bottle to a woman sitting alone at the last chair of an empty row.

Kwangsoo spotted it and frowned slightly. “I didn’t know she was that tired. I’m so annoying.”

“Why did you call her on the first place? You know she was going to be busy.”

“I don’t know. She came up to my mind as soon as PD told us about the mission. Hmm, I just didn’t think it through.”

“Don’t be that mad, Jihyo-yah. You have a sleeping buddy now.” Jongkook loudly joked, getting a death glare from Jihyo. But she simply snorted, recalling the times whenever she slept at every circumstances possible. Jongkook went on. “Nevertheless it’s great to have her here again since her episodes—oh! Kwangsoo-yah, is that?”

Kwangsoo, Jongkook, and Jihyo—who was already joining them—secretly watched as Yoo Jaesuk came over to Deanna’s seat, his jacket on his hand. Then he slowly covered her whole body with it as a blanket and put on his baseball cap on her head, preventing the light getting straight on her face. Not only that, Jaesuk also shifted a chair in front of her and carefully lifted her legs to the chair for a support, knowing that the shorter chair should’ve made her longer legs bent uncomfortably. After that he simply walked off.

“Hyung, did you see what I see?” Kwangsoo blinked, processing what he just saw.

“Omo! That was kind of cute, actually. He is a true gentleman. Not like you, Kwangsoo-yah.”

“Eh Nuna!!” Kwangsoo playfully pushed Jihyo by the shoulder. He soon noticed the chattiest amongst the three had gone completely quiet. “Jongkook-hyung, are you sleeping or something?”

“Ani, it’s just….”

“Just what?”

“I’ve never seen Jaesuk acted this ‘cute’ to a female, moreover Deanna Kim.” Jongkook shook his head, “I spotted the two of them chatting relentlessly often.”

“I chat with Deanna too!” Kwangsoo stated.

“You know her since years ago. He met her only on Running Man. It’s just weird. Do you read the news that Deanna and Jaesuk were spotted together?”

“It was last month. As I recall, they were going to Jiho’s school or something….” That something was off, Jihyo thought. She realized it by now after Jongkook’s critical explanation about the two of them.

Jaesuk hardly ever went in public ever since he got divorce. And if he did, well, he was being careful as much as he could. This paparazzi photo was one of least Yoo Jaesuk photo ever captured. And he was with Deanna at that time. Which brought her the second question; why her?

Not to be rude, but the fact was Yoo Jaesuk hardly ever knew the name Deanna Kim confused Jihyo. He told her about it as well. But then two months later, they were already walking side by side with his son and her dog, not caring that the two of them were caught on camera by some amateur celebrity stalker. And his interview with a local media; he simply answered that they were going home from his son’s school event.

Jihyo knew that things had changed ever since he—his divorce.

Could he be?

“No way! Jaesuk-oppa will never do that to her!” Jihyo whispered, continuing their heated argument about them. “I mean, it’s Yoo Jaesuk we’re talking about.”

“I know. I sounded like a bad person now,” Jongkook sighed, pinching his aching forehead for thinking too much. “You know what; let’s stop this talk from getting any further. I’m afraid we will get misunderstanding.”

“Arasseo, Oppa. This conversation is only for us three to know. No one else. Yah, do you hear, Lee Kwangsoo?” Jihyo silently barked to the tall Girin who just lost in thought. He finally nodded.

“I have one question, though?” Both Jongkook and Jihyo turned around to face Kwangsoo who was looking around the area, worriedly. “How can we be so sure that we’re the only one watching them?”

***

It seemed so unfair but Deanna had been sleeping for the rest of the guest’s introduction. Kwangsoo was somewhat right; the other guests who were watching the sleeping beauty instead sensed a very exhausted person stuck in the middle of the crowd. And Jaesuk’s explanation about her busy day had captured their heart. So during the whole segment, she was set at the last row with a guest, Hyun Jooyeob sat in front of her, to cover her up from camera.

Her peaceful sleep was disturbed for a moment. As the siren blasted off the speakers, Deanna’s body jolted up and fell off the chair, which created a little havoc at the back. But after gaining her energy, she started to wake up.

Or not.

She fell into the deepest rest yet again throughout the whole two rounds of the 80-93 nametag contest, barely untouchable, regardless how noisy the cheers for the game from the people around her. Funny, Jaesuk thought. For a moment, Deanna showed a resemblance with Song Jihyo when it came down to sleeping business. She literally fell back into her dreamless sleep. Yep, Jaesuk thought. She is so like Jihyo; sleeping anytime and anywhere, undisturbed.

Yoo Jaesuk sat down truthfully disappointed when Kim Jongkook was ousted even before the second round began. But hey, they would definitely get the upper hand. The R-team was filled with strong men and women and undeniable fact that Athlete team was less in number. Which got him thinking; should Deanna played for the last round, reminding that she was too peaceful to wake up for just silly game concept. But if she didn’t, then she just wasted her time in Running Man worse than sleeping.

At the very same time, Deanna’s body began to toss and turn uncomfortably. And when she couldn’t find a good position to sleep through, she decided to end the misery and welcome a new challenge. Slowly she opened her eyes. The first person she saw was Song Jihyo.

“Ah Deanna-yah, you’re awake.”

“Ah Eonni, how long did I sleep?” Deanna slowly sat up, winching in the sudden numb, “Oh God, my hurts—what did I miss?”

“You sleep like the dead.” Jihyo simply chuckled, “The final just started—

“Final?! Already?! Oh my God, I did nothing.”

“Do you want to play? I mean, you can sneak in or something. PD wouldn’t mind—”

“Of course I want to play!”

Deanna immediately started to tie up her shoelaces while nearby guests began to yell about adding another celebrity to their group. But of course no one would hear them since they were too busy paying attention to a wave of reds coming for them.

The strategy was bad. They were too eager to win the second round; they literally forgot the third and final stage. Yoo Jaesuk knew the Running Man team would not be able to take out all athletes. Running Man Team was outnumbered and cornered by the shimmering reds wich made U-shaped human armour around them. The Athlete Team just seemed to be so aggressive on the round. Yoo Jaesuk shamelessly yelled out ‘gwenchana’s to fellow team members as they prepared attacks on them. But what they didn’t prepare for was way out of the box.

All of a sudden an athlete’s nametag was ripped off by none other than the awaken Deanna Kim, giving a slight hope for them. The U-shape was ruined as nearby athletes rushed to get to Deanna’s nametag. Instinctively Yoo Jaesuk ran over as fast as he could to save Deanna. He managed to cover her back and literally shooed the athletes away. With that, the war had just broken loose once again.

But it only lasted for merely seconds. Soon, Yoo Jaesuk was ousted. So were Deanna and other twenty seven people in black. It was an undeniable winning prediction for the Athlete Team. But nonetheless Running Man had put up a good fight of the day.

As some guests began to take pictures and selfka with everyone in the room, Deanna sat down quietly at a stool. Today was probably the toughest day she had ever been in. From a serious photo shoot to a sudden variety show, she had never had an expectation as busy as this. Today, she had it all. And the whole deal started to take a toll on her body.

“Yah Dea-ssi, you look like a mess.” Jaesuk joked soon as he sat down next to her, “Tiring, wasn’t it?”

“Hey, I already fell asleep twice in this crowd and mass. That should mean anything to your question.” She exclaimed, laughing alongside him, “But yes, it was really tiring.”

“This mission was bigger than what I expected. I’m glad I don’t need to do it again.”

“If I were you I don’t trust the PDs.”

Jaesuk raised an eyebrow to her and glanced at the crew who was busy coordinating things. He smiled and shook his head, “Hmm, you have a point.”

Suddenly, Jaesuk’s phone beeped a couple of times before he ringed it off. He seemed to have a full attention to the message, or whatever it was; Deanna let it slipped. More beeps came off and this time Jaesuk was really really focusing on the phone; Deanna’s curiosity started to slip off.

“You seem busy, Oppa?” she mentioned about the messages.

He just stretched back and sighed, “Well, I’m planning to call an Uber.”

Uber? Why?”

“I came to the set with Jongkook. And now since he has something to do with things, I’m going home on my own.”

“What happened to your car?”

“Mechanical issue I barely understand. I took my car to the mechanic yesterday. Will be ready in few days,” Jaesuk confessed, “That’s why I’m planning to call an Uber. First time.”

“Yah Oppa, why don’t you come with me?” Jaesuk raised an eyebrow to her. She rolled her eyes slightly and nodded, “I mean I can give you a ride home. I can be your Uber thing.”

“Don’t. You’re tired already. You shouldn’t waste your time for me—”

“I insist!”

Jaesuk snorted her made-up aegyo expression that looked rather annoying if he could say. But hey, she insisted and he needed a ride home. So, why not? He sighed and nodded in defeated but dancing with joy inside.

After taking more selfka and pictures, the pair, along with Burger, bid goodbyes to the remaining guests and crew and headed out to parking lot. The first thing she noticed was how cold the wind was. She was glad that she still had black sweater on her. It gave warmth, not like her horrendous backless top.

At first it was only a small yawn. But she couldn’t help yawn a lot often than people normally do. It was indeed a tiring day, after all. And unfortunately Yoo Jaesuk caught a glimpse of the ugly exhale. He chuckled slightly and shook his head.

“Deanna, give me the key.”

“Key? What key?”

“Your car key. Let me drive you instead.”

“Ani. Ani. Ani. I got this—”

“Dea-ssi, you barely open your eyes like your mouth. Come here, let me drive,” Jaesuk reached out for her hand when she shot it out further from his grasp. She even tip-toed in a mocking way, making Jaesuk raised an eyebrow to Deanna’s devilish and tired eyes. “Yah Deanna!”

“No! I can drive—Oppa!!”

Deanna practically yelped when he clawed her left shoulder, pulling it down. He then managed to get a good grip on her hand and snatched the key away. He simply walked over to the driver door, leaving her completely dazed. Oh well, it wasn’t a bad idea.

But Jaesuk was right; she barely could open her eyes for five minutes. How could she stay alive for busy-hour drive? In the middle of the thoughts she fell asleep.

Jaesuk looked over to see Deanna already dozing off in a very awkward position, but comfortable in her own way. He was glad to make the decision to drive her car. He was pretty satisfied to accept her forcing offer. Besides, Uber fee was kind of expensive these days. With a free ride, it just made his day better.

Some moments later, he arrived at her apartment complex. One thing for sure, Jaesuk didn’t think it through, the driving thing. Now he was stuck with the option to get her inside her apartment and how to actually get home. That said, he decided to park the car and slowly woke her up. She barely opened her eyes, so he had to walk her… Like, really really walk her. Carefully he search for her card inside her purse and also slipped her car key inside purse. Oh, such a gentleman he was.

He once was inside her apartment, but never reached the master bedroom, which turned out to be smaller than he had expected for a rich model. Don’t judge a book by its cover did work out. Slowly she sat down on the queen-sized bed and plopped herself down, back to whatever dreams she had. Feeling sudden relief, he smiled before exited the room and the house.

At the end of the day, he got a taxi for a long ride home.
