...

As Mr. W was talking about the rules on the syllabus, I received a message from an unknown number.

Unknown Number: Youngjae-ah.

Youngjae: Who is this?...

Unknown Number: What? You didn’t save my number since last year?

Youngjae: …I’m sorry?...

Chapter 2:

(still) Youngjae's POV

Unknown Number: It’s Daehyun hyung.

Youngjae: OH MY GOSH DAEHYUN HYUNG. You’re going to make me pay more for my phone bill, pabo. Why are you texting me?

*Number saved!* Daehyun: I just landed here today… I’m going to you guys’ school this year.

Youngjae: WHAT REALLY?!? OH MY GOSH HYUNG YAY!!

Daehyun: Aren’t you in class now? Text me at your break okay?

Youngjae: Okay hyung, I will text you in a little bit. Bye!

Daehyun: Bye, Youngjae-ah~

Daehyun hyung is back! Oh my gosh oh my gosh!

Daehyun and I have been best friends for as long as I can remember. He was always there for me with my family problems and girl problems, and I was always there for him whenever he had similar problems as well. We’ve been super close for the longest time, but after we graduated from junior high, he moved back to Korea with his mom for his freshman year. I’d be lying if I said we didn’t cry at the airport, but it was like brothers being separated, you know?

Now that he’s coming back, we can be in band and play basketball just like how we used to in elementary school! He played trumpet and so did I, but since he left freshman year I decided to play drums instead; now I’m one of the best in our high school drumline, and I’m only a sophomore. Isn’t that amazing? I can’t wait to hang out with him and tell him all about what I’ve been doing, as well as him telling me how he’s been too!

But there’s just one problem… Jieun noona…

Uh oh.

Jieun’s POV

The bell rang, which signaled that it was time for brunch. Hyosung and I parted ways and she went to go find her second class, which was on the other side of the street. I feel bad for her, that’s so far.

It was time for brunch, and this was the time that everyone had together. Because the school had one brunch and two lunches, it was usually only during our brief 10 minute brunch that you’d actually get to be with ALL of your friends, so I decided to use that time to see how my sister and Youngjae were doing. I found them talking in front of their lockers, and luckily for them their lockers are right next to each other.

“Youngjae! Hwasa!” I, somewhat, yelled and briskly walked to where they stood. “Hi Jieun! How was AP Chem?” Hwasa smirked at me as she watched me wince. “Don’t get me wrong, I have a strong love for chemistry but it’s the first day back and Mr. Lee made us take a test. DOES THAT EVEN MAKE SENSE??” I raised my voice and Hwasa covered my mouth. “Yah, Jieun. Are you trying to let the school know about your problems?? Quiet down.” “Hi noona! I missed you!” Youngjae gave me a bright smile and hugged me. “I missed you too Youngjae-ah~ How come you only came over twice this summer? You’d always come over! What happened?” I stuck out my bottom lip as I lightly smacked his arm, and he just chuckled. “Sorry noona, I had to do a lot of things for my church this summer, but I saw Hwasa often… No worries noona, we’ll hang out more~ We have fourth period together! Band!” I smiled at him, and then patted his head. “Okay okay~ The bell is about to ring! Get to class! My next class is just around the corner! Go go go!” I smacked their butts and laughed, turning around to the direction of my second
