4 years later…
I watched her as she put on her burgundy red lipstick for the 5th time that afternoon.
“Tsk. You look fine- why are you so worried?” I grumbled, knowing that she wouldn’t be able to hear me.
It was my last day with Heeyeon.
Technically, it was my last few minutes with her.
I saw her biting her lips- anxious over her blind date partner who was slightly late. ‘What if he stood me up? We haven’t even met yet!’ her thoughts screamed.
I sighed and glanced at my watch, “Don’t worry. He’s just busy staring at his phone’s GPS to find this place right now. He wouldn’t ditch you.”
Heeyeon took a nervous sip of her vanilla latte. I quietly watched as she tucked some of her brown hair with a clip.
Separation had never been easy; but I was only needed for so long. She wouldn’t need my assistance soon, even though she wouldn’t be aware of it.
The deal started when her mother had died.
I was assigned as her guardian by Father- and I could only stop when she has someone else to protect her.
That would be today.
“Heeyeon-ah.” I said, not expecting her to be able to hear or see me. “It’s been a great seven years with you. You wouldn’t need me any longer… but if it turns out that you do… just say it and I’ll be there. Just like what is written on that necklace.”
