~How can I make you stay?~

Wooyoung had always delighted in the dark shadows as a child. He marveled at the sneaky nature of the oily, black writhing masses, and gazed and gasped in admiration as other children shrieked and cried.

It must have been him being so unusual, so exceptionally remarkable that fate decided to pick him.

The rather adorable male had been in middle school when the true origins of the world decided to unmask their true forms to him.

It had been a quite normal day- albeit too bright and cheerful for Wooyoung's tastes. The shadows refused to even budge on days like these. They remained still, the dark tune they danced to silent, the eerie pictures he often saw interlocked in the shadows cowering under the blanket of blank darkness. The vexed boy was stonily crossing in the school yard, forehead scrunched up as the music in his ears refused to fully block out the screeching noises of life all around him. And the peels of the bright life taunted him, forcing him to cross the sidewalks to the old trees and trample the green grass to his usual spot in the tiny forest of trees hiding him from school supervision. Wooyoung tossed himself onto the grass, relying on the shade of the crusty branches to block the dreaded sun from touching his white face. Except the shade he felt shielding him was sporting a different feel from the normal dead blanket that fell upon his face. This one was oily and slick, quesy as it slid across his face. 'When did the shadows from tree branches slither around?'  And Wooyoung's eyes snapped open, sitting upright, rigid, as his shifty eyes squinted at the canopy of the thick masses of green leaves. The air tasted different as well. And the world was too uncannily quiet, the birds dead silent and the chatter from voices from the school buildings muffled to a mute murmur. And the song playing on his headphones had mysteriously shut off by themselves. Slow goosebumps trickled on the back on his neck, cold streaming down his arms in his veins. It was like time had frozen. Or...

Maybe just the bright side of life. For the previously blank shadows began wiggling again, but this sight did not comfort the boy- the shadows were no longer dancing to their music, but a crazed music- it was akin to an evil music that contorted their calm shapes and forced them to dance like puppets. Wooyoung stiffened, careful not to brush his fingers with the shadows like his insticts desired to do. Instead, the poreclain beauty experimently unfolded his stiff back bones. He could move. A frown won its way onto Wooyoung's face. He could see his classmates inside the murky windows frozen, mouthes still, chest not breathing. Panic arose sharply in the boy's chest. Yet he remained calm, for the unknown threat was apparently, in Wooyoung's logic, too great for the rest of the world to catch up to. And Wooyoung remained still for minutes, but since the uneasy calm retained its stillness, the boy risked himself moving into a standing position. And that was exactly when a great bang of a powerful gun rang out, and a thud sounded awfully close to the fair male. Out of his peripheral vision, a black blur screamed its blood curling scream as it went down and broke its neck on the ground. The loud crack of rattling thick bones told the boy that much. Wooyoung's alarm and not knowing how to handle the situation paved way for footsteps to crunch their way towards the doll-like teen and the writhing mass of carmine blood, black shadows, and seeping life source pooling and staining the grass. The footsteps were now crescendoing, voices distinctly clearing to two vo

Chapter 4: I love the quote that you opened the story with. It's beautiful and helps the reader to feel a great deal of emotion before we even begin reading. I think the 'Before Entering the Room' is a bit redundant since you establish that first thing with the next couple paragraphs, but your descriptions in this partial chapter are lovely! They evoke a great many feelings and images in my head so that the scenery and the way the story unfolds is almost surreal and visceral. That last paragraph in particular is pretty much sublime and it's amazing! I was frustrated when that was where you stopped it. haha

Given that I don't know much of your other works and it's been a while since I read the first chapters, I'm not sure how much help I'd be in comparing but I do know that this chapter feels rather underwhelming and incomplete. For me, it was a letdown that Wooyoung appeared to have no chance whatsoever when he approached his target. Given how you've built the Shadow Walkers up, I was expecting some sort of ability or resistance and that just didn't happen. Even if he is going up against an S level target, aren't they supposed to be the elites? So I pretty much snorted when he practically fell through the doorway and was then subsequently marched along with no trouble at all. >.> Hmm... It almost feels like it was a setup in the first place, and it might be, but because I only have a glimpse, I don't know.

I don't mean for that to be discouraging because I did enjoy reading it and as the commenter below stated, I wonder very much why the Siren will choose not to kill Wooyoung to promote the WooKay pairing. I'm also curious how the other Shadow Walkers are faring and how everything is going to unfold. You've certainly got my attention and I will definitely continue to read. *nod* With that being said, great job in getting this far and I wish you the best of luck with finishing this chapter and the rest of the story in a personally satisfactory manner. ^_^

This is an interesting concept and a fascinating look into another world. I'm certainly curious as to how the boys are Shadow Walkers like that and if it's random or there's something that makes them that way, but how you're building the world up is quite intriguing. I like the idea of Wooyoung having an old fashioned weapon like a sword (that never gets old) and seeing the way they're all three different in the same field is also intriguing.

The idea of speaking to shadows is something pretty cool and though I'm a bit confused about the competition and the way in which they're apparently creating these PROJECTS, the dichotomy between the 'good' guys and the 'other' guys is definitely creating some tension. I was a teensy bit confused about the way you explained capturing and killing the different ranks: is there a difference and if so, what is it? haha

And now with this latest twist, I'm certainly curious to see how this will be a WooKay fic given the recent development. There's gotta be something to the S Rank beasties and possibly Wooyoung in particular that make it possible but I'll be damned if I know what it is yet. I guess time will tell but I at least wanted to drop a comment and say I'm interested in seeing where this goes. Good job with getting it started and good luck in finishing it!
