"Soojung, you don't have to do this... I'll be fine without a date... maybe" "Oh hush now. You're the student council president yet you don't have a date? Preposterous! Jongin and I can have a night-out after the prom" she tells Henry as she slides a couple of suits from hanger to hanger They were in a mall because Soojung was just in time to rescue the president who was having second thoughts whether he should still attend prom because the tomboy he like decided to serve donuts than to drink punch with him. She took the wheel in choosing a sharp suit for him since the guy was lagging behind her, constantly slumping on the clothes racks because he was too languid for any of this at the moment. "You know, I have discovered that I really like studying... Especially on weekend nights~" Soojung gives him a judging look. "So greasy. I know why." "Soojunga~ It's been so long since I've been making moves on her since elementary. Why isn't anything happening yet?" He slumps on another rack Soojung straightens him up, smacking his shoulder "So violent..." "Quit whining will ya? I've been helping you all the while I should get paid! Whatever your progress will be, it's up to you and everything is in your hands!" She lifts a white suit to his body and tilts her head to see if it suits him "How am I to know when your friend is so bipolar?" Soojung puffs "well, you fell for her. Not my fault" she takes the suit and drags the manchild with her to the cashier
Henry hands her his card and observes as the suit gets checked out and packed in a box "Here you go. I'll be the one to pick you up. You better be in that suit when I arrive. I better get going, got a schedule at the salon. See ya" she hands him his suit and his card, eventually leaving the hamster standing there, staring at the endless racks of suits, still contemplating whether he'd go or not. He has been wanting to text her but he was afraid she'd be even more mad at him. Why was he in love with such a complicated girl? He'd think she's be less of a handful because she's a tomboy buy hoho no, she's just like any girl. Complicated, hard to figure out. But he just can't give up on her like that. Hell, even he doesn't know how long he's been crushing on her. He's made a promise long ago that if she's never going to become his after high school, then he might as well give up. He's worked too damn hard for this. Even tried to get on her level. He can't just let this pass. Well, not getting slapped after kissing her might be a progress... He shrugs and makes his way to his car "Jackie... I like Henry." Jackie slightly sprays the drink on the counter and gives her sister that "WHAT?" look "Pardon?" "You heard me..." "Wha-- I mean-- eh-- woah... daaaamn" Amber explains she had finally realized it, maybe even long before. Just now she had become honest to herself, missing Henry and all. Finally acknowledging his efforts, their moments, the butterflies in her stomach that had fluttered a dozen times because of that hamster man and those little texts and late night calls. "Damn I feel stupid" "Dude, you aren't stupid now haha. Damn girl, took you that long" "He's still competition though. Why am I feeling this way towards my rival" she leans on the counter, her sister pats her back "There there... It was sort of inevitable from the beginning..." "I need to go." Amber regains her composure and makes her way to the store's door. "Hey, you're not going to prom are you?" "Uhh... That still hasn't changed. I'm going home to study." "That girl... Still has her priorities straight..." Or so you think, Jackie "Henry! Hey! Snap out of it, pres!" Soojung has been screaming to his ears for who-knows how long. The gym was filled with the students in fancy tux and dresses. He was dressed in a fancy tux as well but he wasn't feeling that grand. Henry still doesn't give Soojung the attention she's been trying to catch, the girl still holding a glass og punch in both her hands. Henry was still drowning in the music and the lights and the sight of everyone having fun. Sunyoung was having the time of her life at the dancefloor, what with Onew's arms on her waist. She's finally had that dance she waited for for like, forever with the person she had always liked. Jinri was too shy to go up the center and dance with everyone else, so she just enjoys Minho popping right there in front of her. Qian on the other hand was in her seat along with Zhoumi, the two were close to making out, but for the mean time, they're having an awkward small talk. Finally he snaps out of it.
"Oh, Soojung, thanks." "You feeling proud of all this? This was all your work" Soojung raises her glass and does a toast with the person in white beside her "Y-yeah..." he blinks She crosses her arms as she sees the glint of disappointment in his eyes
"Too bad Amber isn't here huh?" "Yeah..." "Damn, you really got it real bad." Soojung laughs patting the hamster's back "I didn't think she was so serious about that decision of hers" his eyes stare blankly at nothing in particular There in the distance was Jongin constantly beckoning Soojung to go near him, right now. Soojung was ready to jump in but she notices the emo man was still beside her. She sighs "Hey. You really wanna see her tonight?" Henry looks up at her, hopeful Soojung takes off the corsage on her right hand and hands it to him
"Go. Go to her" "But--" "Dude... just go. Jongin's waiting" Soojung laughs at the sight of the president almost moved to tears. "Eh? Henry! Where are you going?" Kyuhun calls him out as he sees Henry elbowing through the throng of students "To go see her!" "See her?" Kyuhyun mutters "wait... You can't just leave!" He abandons his dance partner and holds on to Henry's shoulder as he caught up to him Ailee sees the slight commotion a short distance from her table, she steps in "Hey, what's goin on?" "I'm going to Amber's house--" "Dude are you sure? You and Soojung got here late and you missed a quarter of the party. You sure you're not gonna stay? Man, you worked hard to conceptualize this event. You're not even  gonna stay for the prom king and queen award? This party. It's supposed to be one of your unforgettable moments..." "I know..." "You know what, Kyuhyun... Let him go. You know how he's so into Amber he can't even stay in place without her." Kyuhyun smiles as he finally steps back "Have a great night, President." "You too, guys." The person, who was supposedly studying, was on her bed until night time, laying on her abdomen, phone in hand. She's been reading their past conversations. Heck, even listening to their calls she had recorded. She lies on her back. Arm covering her eyes. "It all fits. I've always adored him subconsciously. I really do like that hamster." She decides to pick up her books and finally do some studying For the love of popcorn, she can't sit still and easy in front of her desk, and not get conscious of what could be happening at the prom. Was he having a good time?
Had Soojung replaced her in his heart-- wait. No. Why did she think of that
Maybe they would be prom king and queen. He always looks dashing and she has always been very beautiful. Plus they're both popular. Argh, Soojung, why did you have to start all of this and actually got me falling for it-- i mean him. Obviously this person has no experience in liking another person this much. Let alone this person she likes is her rival. So her struggle is real. Really real.
Kris was someone she used to like. But it was easy liking him. There wasn't any competition between them.
While Henry. He's a different case. The guy is literally just a few points away from her glory and is also desperate to take her down that spot. For someone who likes me, he sure is persistent on annoying me to the point of making he hate him The scene when he kissed her plays back over and over. And after that a thought comes in "THEN WHY??" Yeah, why did he go with Soojung instead? That lil ain't loyal He better not be kissing Soojung too
Afterall, she went through all the trouble of putting on lipbalm the past few days.
Call her jealous but-- yeah she is jealous A knock to her room's door. What, who could that be this late at night? "Mom?" She calls for the person on the other side of the door as she stands up. She opens the door and had to close it a milisecond later What Wake up wake up

 

She gives both her cheeks a few pats and breathes in and out
