Chapter 2

Can't Stop Dancing (HIATUS)

The Next Day

I stood by my locker and out my things that I didn’t need until later in there.

. There she comes. Don’t act like an idiot this time. Keep your cool, Vernon.

She walked past me, and didn’t even give me a glance.

“Evelyn! What time do we have practice?” I yelled, running after her again.

She stopped in her tracks but didn’t turn around.

“I’m sure you already know that yourself.” She blankly said.

She turned around and looked at me, her eyes piercing into my soul.

“I told you to leave me alone. Go away.”

I was flustered. Some students were looking our way, while others were snickering.

Vernon. You made an even bigger fool of yourself.

I scratched my head.

“I just wanted to make sure, y’know?”

“Well, I don’t care. Get away from me.”

I sighed and walked to class.

After School

As the bell rang, students piled out of their classes.

“Hey Vernon!”

I turned around. It was my friend, Joshua. He ran up to me and slung his arm over my shoulder.

“So you have practice again with her?”

I nodded, my cheeks heating up. I avoided his eyes.

“C’mon dude. Just tell her. You’ve had her eyes on her for such a long time. I can’t even remember when.”

“I just can’t tell her idiot. What if she chops my head off? She’s scary too.”

“UGH.” He grabbed his head with his hands and shook his head.

“Sometimes I just want to smash your head against the wall so that you’d actually man up and tell her.”

I rolled my eyes.

“Alright, I have to go now.” I started walking towards the dance practice room.

“You have to do it. One day, Vernon. One day!” Joshua yelled.

I shook my head.

I went inside the practice room, to find the room empty, again. I groaned and shook my head.

Why is she always late? Why not be early for once?

I sighed. I set up my music player and started warming up.

I kept warming up while she entered.

I looked at her through the mirror while she threw her bag at the couch. She took out her shoes out of her bag and crouched down to put them on.

“Quit staring at me. You’ve been doing that for the past 5 minutes.” She said without turning around.

How does she know? What the hell.

I cleared my throat and looked at my feet in embarrassment.

“Let’s just start our dance.” I got up and looked over at her.

She still had her back facing me.

“You start. I have to pick up my brother from daycare.”

Whoa, she actually talked to me.

She stared at me.

I snapped out of my day dreaming.

“Oh. Um, yea, go ahead. I’ll just wait, I guess.”

She was already out of the door before I could finish my sentence.

I sighed.
